EVE Online launches Catalyst expansion with new ore, ships, and a complete mining overhaul

EVE Online is lighting a spark across New Eden with Catalyst, its newest expansion focused on transforming mining into a faster, more dynamic, and more rewarding experience. At the heart of this update is a powerful new, unpredictable ore that triggers a galaxy-wide resource rush, forcing corporations and pilots to rethink their industrial and strategic priorities.

Catalyst introduces two new ships: the Pioneer, a dedicated mining destroyer, and the Odysseus, an exploration command ship built for deep-space operations. Mining itself has been refined with quicker cycles, critical hit mechanics, and a clearer, more informative UI, making resource harvesting feel more responsive and impactful than ever.

Exploration also gets a major upgrade with a new easy-to-read 2D map, helping players scan, navigate, and locate opportunities with far greater ease. For new players, Catalyst adds a beginner-friendly Epic Arc mission chain, guiding rookies through mining, exploration, and progression using the new ship and tools.

Beyond industry, the expansion delivers carrier updates, PLEX logs, and additional quality-of-life improvements that strengthen both the economic and strategic layers of the sandbox.
