Introducing House Corrino

Introducing House Corrino

His Imperial Majesty, the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe Shaddam IV, will be arriving on Arrakis very soon to settle the question of his oversight once and for all, and he is not happy to have to make the trip. House Corrino has ruled the Imperium for 10 millennia, balancing the conflicting interests of CHOAM, the Spacing Guild, and the Great Houses, and they are unwilling to lose control of the most valuable planet in the universe. The emperor brings with him his fearsome Sardaukar legions, mysterious elite warriors from Salusa Secundus. He will have to use them, as well as all of his political acumen and control over CHOAM, to subdue the rogue houses and wild rebels of Arrakis. Shaddam IV, the 81st Padishah Emperor, has ruled the Corrino Empire for 36 years, following the tragic murder of his father. After years managing the tumultuous politics of the Landsraad, Shaddam has become adept at using the ambitions of his opponents against him. His growing paranoia, fueled by the lack of a male heir and the growing popularity of Duke Leto Atreides, led him to establish the Spice Wars as a way to remove any threat to his rule and assert his dominance. in the spice trade. Introducing the Fremen

Introducing the Fremen

The Fremen are the native inhabitants of Arrakis. Enraged by the imperial invadors, they put up a fierce and unsparing resistance. They are often underestimated, but their martial skills are well known by the few who have been lucky enough to survive an encounter with them. Throughout the 60 years of Harkonnen occupation, the Fremen have been a thorn in the baron’s side. Their long term objective is to change the planet into a warm, lush planet, putting spice trade in danger. The Spice Wars are an opportunity to free the planet from the imperial oppression, an opportunity that the Fremen are excited to seize. Liet Kynes, renowned planetologist of the Empire, based in Arrakis to study the spice cycle, is secretly leading an ecological Fremen project started by his father. His double loyalty has made him capable of traversing through both the confusing Fremen traditions and the impenetrable imperial administration. The Fremen have an almost religious admiration for Liet, as they believe he will lead them to a utopic Arrakis, free from both the imperium and water scarcity. Introducing the Smugglers

Introducing the Smugglers

As in any high profit market, the spice trade attracts all types of entrepeneurs. Those who wish to avoid the reach of CHOAM resort to smugglers to acquire the precious substance, making it an important clandestine economic power within the Imperium. And where there is profit, there will always be smugglers waiting to play their cards… Smugglers have control of their own territory, with an armed force and a certain political influence. Their agents have their hands in agreements from every planet, influencing public politics and trade everywhere. At the end of the day, the final objective of the smugglers is to get to a state where their family becomes a Landsraad house of their own right. As an expert trader, Esmar Tuek is the most respected smuggler in Arrakis. With the start of the spice war between the main houses, the smugglers united under his leadership to defend their interests on the planet. Introducing House Harkonnen

Introducing House Harkonnen

House Harkonnen, hailing from Giedi Prime (a greatly industrialised planet that lives under the iron fist of its cruel Baron) is a House with a reputation of ambition, brutality, and malevolence. It’s not surprising that it is one of the most feared houses of the Imperium. They are known for their torturous and sinister political tactics and for the historic dispute they maintained with House Atreides for centuries. They are also a force to keep in mind and are feared by their fellow Houses, with good reason. Their leader is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, one of the richest members of Landsraad and the most dangerous rivals of Duke Leto Atreides. It is an unrivaled conspirator, as ruthless and cruel as it is intelligent and wise. The Baron is hungry for power and has a special ability to manipulate others and to exploit their weaknesses, as well as having a tendency for torture and blackmail, making it one of the most dangerous predators of Arrakis. Introducing House Atreides

Introducing House Atreides

It’s one of the most powerful Houses in the known universe. Honourable, efficient, and very respected. These are some of the motives, amongst others, however Barón Harkonnen considers them a threat to his aspirations of power and control. House Atreides is one of the Great Houses of the Imperium, and an important member of Landsraad, the parliament that joins the major and lower Houses of the Imperium. The Atreides have led the lush, oceanic planet Caladan for generations and are leading their land with justice and honour. Their leader is Duke Leto, a distinguished aristocrat, proud of his House’s story and his ducal privileges. Although he sometimes seems tough, unflexible, proud, and authoritarian, he is considered a fair and loyal leader, and someone worthy of respect.
