The Redeemer enters the fray, promising to shake up the 2XKO meta with a unique style of light and darkness

Riot Games continues to grow the 2XKO roster, officially introducing one of the most highly anticipated characters for League of Legends fans. Through a brand-new gameplay trailer, the studio confirmed that Sennawill join the fight onJune 9, bringing one of Runeterra's most iconic and complex champions to the fighting game scene.

Under the tagline "Light and dark, both weapons," the video showcases an adaptation that honors the core essence of the original character while introducing entirely new mechanics tailored specifically for 2XKO’s team-combat format.

A radical shift from her League of Legends identity

In League of Legends, Senna is famous for blending long-range attacks, team utility, and the manipulation of spectral mist. Translating that specific archetype into a fighting game, however, poses a unique design challenge.

To make it work, Riot has chosen to heavily re-imagine her toolkit:

According to previous explanations from the developers, Senna's version in 2XKO considerably expands her well-known spectral form, or "Wraith Mode," transforming it into a core mechanic of her toolkit. What functions primarily as a defensive and mobility tool in League of Legends becomes an alternate state here, capable of completely modifying her combat style.

The idea is for Senna to be able to alternate between different gameplay tempos, seamlessly blending offensive pressure, space control, and aggressive distance mix-ups.

Shaking up the competitive future

Senna’s arrival is a major milestone for the game's strategic depth.

Since Riot began revealing the first 2XKO champions, the studio has insisted that every fighter must have highly pronounced strengths and weaknesses. Instead of aiming for all-around balanced characters, the goal is to build distinct identities that encourage vastly different team compositions.

This approach fits perfectly with the philosophy of a game based on 2v2 combat, where character synergy is just as important as each fighter's individual performance.

Senna seems designed precisely to offer new combo possibilities and tactical control within competitive duos.

2XKOsteady match toward its big launch

The addition of Senna comes at an especially active time for the game.

Over the last few months, Riot has continued expanding key features such as duo play, the communication system, competitive options, and support for official events. The studio has also strengthened its presence at major fighting game community tournaments, including events linked to Evo 2026, where 2XKO continues to solidify its competitive scene even before its definitive release.

Furthermore, Senna was one of the characters whose arrival had been anticipated for some time, alongside other major champions from the League of Legends universe.

Light, dark, and heavy offensive pressure

While it remains to be seen how she will position herself within the competitive meta, the first gameplay leaves a fairly clear impression: Senna won't simply be a support character ported over from League.

Riot seems to have capitalized on the most characteristic elements of her lore—the constant struggle between the light and the Black Mist—to build a fighter capable of switching combat styles and creating unpredictable situations for the opponent.

And in a game where team combinations and constant adaptation are fundamental, that versatility could quickly turn her into one of the most interesting champions on the roster.

The wait will be short.

Because on June 9, the Redeemer will step out of the shadows to prove if she can also dominate the stages of 2XKO..
