Apex Legends is preparing for one of its most ambitious crossover events yet. Street Fighter 6 will enter the Outlands on September 22, transforming Wildcard into a fighting-game-inspired battlefield filled with Hadokens, Shoryukens, teleportation techniques and an explosive final Showdown.

The limited-time event runs until October 13 and goes considerably further than introducing a collection of themed cosmetics. Players will be able to collect Fighter Gear based on Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma and Dhalsim, temporarily replacing the normal first-person Apex experience with a third-person combat form equipped with blocking, stronger melee attacks and recognizable Street Fighter abilities.

A remixed version of Olympus will host the crossover, while eight Apex Legends receive outfits based on members of the Street Fighter 6 roster. The event also introduces themed weapon skins, earnable rewards, external Twitch and Discord promotions, and a Hadoken Mythic Universal Melee cosmetic.

Fighter Gear Turns Wildcard Into a Combat Arena

The crossover’s central mechanic is Fighter Gear, which can be collected during Wildcard matches. Four kits will be available, each translating a Street Fighter character into Apex’s ability framework with a Passive, Tactical and Ultimate.

These kits are gameplay pickups rather than benefits tied to the premium character skins. Players should therefore be able to experience the crossover’s central mechanics without needing to purchase the corresponding cosmetic outfit.

The four available styles are based on Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma and Dhalsim:

  • Ryu combines fast forward movement with ranged Hadokens and a powerful Shin Shoryuken finisher.
  • Chun-Li gains wall-running, faster melee attacks, Kikoken projectiles and a charged Kikosho blast capable of controlling an area.
  • Akuma attacks from range with Gou Hadoken fireballs before closing the distance to execute Shun Goku Satsu.
  • Dhalsim uses low gravity to float over engagements, Yoga Teleport to reposition and Yoga Sunburst to rain fire onto enemies from above.

The four kits cover noticeably different battlefield roles. Ryu represents the most direct all-rounder, offering both ranged pressure and a close-range finisher. Chun-Li emphasizes movement and zone control, while Akuma appears designed for players willing to commit aggressively once an enemy has been weakened.

Dhalsim is the most unconventional option. Vertical positioning, teleportation and aerial attacks could allow him to challenge the predictable lines of fire normally created by Olympus’ architecture. His kit may be particularly effective around buildings, elevated platforms and teams relying heavily on conventional cover.

Exact damage values, cooldowns and ability ranges have not been disclosed in the announcement. Those numbers will determine whether the four kits are reasonably balanced or whether one becomes the obvious priority during the event.

Fighter Form Introduces Third-Person Combat

Collecting Fighter Gear is only the beginning. Players must gather Tokens around the map to fill a Fight Gauge, which can then be consumed to activate Fighter Form.

Entering Fighter Form shifts the camera into third person and unlocks the selected Street Fighter kit’s complete ability set. It also grants several universal benefits:

  • Access to the kit’s Tactical and Ultimate abilities
  • Stronger melee attacks
  • A dedicated blocking ability
  • Additional damage resistance
  • Increased movement speed

The Fight Gauge gradually drains while Fighter Form is active. Once it is empty, the player returns to the regular Apex Legends combat system. Successfully landing abilities can partially refill the gauge, rewarding aggressive and accurate use of the transformation.

This creates a temporary power cycle rather than a permanent upgrade. Players must decide whether to activate Fighter Form immediately, save it for a dangerous encounter or build enough momentum through successful attacks to extend the transformation.

The block ability and additional damage resistance will be especially important. Apex is fundamentally designed around firearms, shields and first-person movement, so introducing close-range third-person combat could leave transformed players dangerously exposed if they were unable to mitigate incoming gunfire.

Fighter Form gives them the tools needed to approach enemies, but it does not automatically remove the importance of positioning. A player charging across an open section of Olympus can still attract fire from several squads, and no amount of fighting-game flair guarantees a successful engagement against coordinated opponents.

The Final Showdown Removes the Limits

Teams that survive long enough will reach Showdown, a final round that abandons the temporary nature of Fighter Form.

During Showdown, every remaining player receives an infinite Fight Gauge and can enter Fighter Form whenever they choose. Downed and respawning competitors are also returned directly to the Arena, creating a sustained battle of projectiles, melee combinations and special abilities until one squad lands the decisive knockout.

This structure is a significant departure from a traditional Apex endgame. Standard final circles are often defined by limited cover, carefully managed resources and the threat of permanent elimination. Showdown instead appears designed as a chaotic combat finale where the Street Fighter mechanics become the primary attraction.

Infinite Fighter Form should also change the relative value of each kit. Dhalsim’s mobility and aerial control may become more oppressive when gauge management is removed, while Ryu and Akuma can repeatedly threaten close-range finishers. Chun-Li’s Kikosho could prove particularly useful when the available fighting space begins to contract.

The respawn rules should keep more players involved in the finale, but EA’s announcement does not specify every condition governing those returns. The precise structure will become clearer once the event is playable.

Olympus Receives a Street Fighter 6 Remix

The crossover takes place on a specially modified version of Olympus built around Street Fighter 6 imagery and interactive event features.

Fight Night has been converted into Luke’s Gym. Entering its ring immediately activates Fighter Form, creating a clearly marked destination for players who want to engage with the crossover mechanics without first filling the gauge through Tokens.

Punch Trucks are positioned elsewhere on the map and can be destroyed to obtain additional Tokens. These mobile objectives should create small hotspots away from the most popular landing zones, although their strategic importance will depend on how many Tokens they provide and how quickly Fight Gauges can otherwise be filled.

The rest of the map receives a substantial visual makeover. Giant fighter statues, Street Fighter-inspired street art, Blanka-chan balloons, arcade cabinets, branded signs and other decorations turn Olympus into a celebration of Capcom’s fighting series.

The redesign fits Wildcard’s established role inside Apex Legends. EA has repeatedly used the mode to test exaggerated mechanics, unusual equipment and altered versions of familiar maps without forcing those experiments into Ranked or the standard Battle Royale environment.

The Fighter Gear abilities are specifically announced for Wildcard. There is currently no indication that Ryu’s Hadoken, Chun-Li’s wall-running or the other crossover mechanics will become part of regular Ranked play.

Eight Legends Become Street Fighter 6 Characters

The cosmetic portion of the event pairs eight Apex Legends with recognizable Street Fighter 6 characters:

  • Sparrow as Ryu
  • Alter as Chun-Li
  • Bangalore as Elena
  • Mirage as Luke
  • Gibraltar as Akuma
  • Wattson as Cammy
  • Caustic as Blanka
  • Pathfinder as Dhalsim

Some of the combinations reflect similar combat personalities, while others deliberately lean into visual contrast. Sparrow’s agile fighting style makes him a logical match for Ryu, and Alter’s mobility suits Chun-Li. Gibraltar’s imposing frame gives Akuma an appropriately intimidating presence.

Pathfinder as Dhalsim is a particularly natural visual match because the robot’s extendable limbs already echo Dhalsim’s famously exaggerated reach. Caustic’s transformation into Blanka offers the opposite kind of appeal, placing one of Apex’s most controlled and menacing characters inside the appearance of Street Fighter’s electrified wild man.

The crossover also adds eight Legendary weapon skins for the R-99, EVA-8, Flatline, Volt, G7 Scout, Mozambique, Devotion and Peacekeeper. Additional cosmetic items include two Skydive Emotes, Holosprays, Stickers, Badges, Trackers and Frames.

EA has not included individual prices or complete bundle costs in the initial announcement. Players should wait for the event store to open before relying on any V-Bucks-style pricing comparisons or unofficial estimates involving Apex Coins.

The Hadoken Mythic Melee Is a Cosmetic Item

The headline premium item is the Hadoken Mythic Universal Melee, which allows Legends to channel a ball of blue energy between their hands. It also comes with a matching Deathbox cosmetic.

Despite the “Mythic” terminology, this Hadoken is a universal melee cosmetic rather than a permanent gameplay advantage. It should not be confused with the functional Hadoken available through Ryu’s Fighter Gear inside Wildcard.

The distinction matters because one is a collectible personalization item, while the other is a temporary event ability available during matches. Purchasing the Mythic melee does not appear to unlock Ryu’s gameplay kit or provide an advantage when entering Fighter Form.

As a Universal Melee, the Hadoken can be equipped across the Legend roster rather than remaining exclusive to a single character. That broader compatibility will likely make it one of the event’s most desirable premium rewards.

Zenny Powers the Event Reward Shop

Players can earn Zenny through participation and spend it in the event’s Reward Shop. The primary character reward is an Epic Lifeline skin based on Li-Fen, Chun-Li’s technologically gifted student from Street Fighter 6.

The shop also contains Apex Packs, an event badge, Battle Pass Stars, Crafting Metals, a Lifeline banner and themed character trackers. The rewards are divided across two shop rotations, so players interested in specific items should monitor the event schedule rather than waiting until its final days.

The announcement does not yet specify the complete Zenny earning rates or the precise cost of every item. Those figures will determine how much regular play is required to clear the shop.

Twitch Drops and a Discord Quest Add More Rewards

A separate Twitch promotion will run from September 22 through September 29. Watching any eligible Apex Legends stream for 60 minutes will award the Insert Coin Here Weapon Charm.

Players must connect their Twitch and EA accounts before attempting to claim the reward. EA states that earned items should appear in-game within 24 hours and become visible following the next login.

The Apex Legends Discord Quest runs from September 22 through October 12. Playing Apex for 15 minutes while the Discord application is running awards the Kung Fu Coach Tracker Set. The relevant Discord and EA accounts must also be properly linked.

These external rewards have shorter availability windows than the main event. The Twitch Drop ends after one week, while the Discord Quest closes one day before the Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 event itself concludes.

When Does Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 Begin?

The Apex Legends VS Street Fighter 6 Event runs from September 22 to October 13, 2026. It will be available through Wildcard on the event’s remixed Olympus map.

Apex Legends is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through the EA app, Epic Games Store and Steam.

The collaboration brings together two games with very different approaches to competitive combat, but it does not stop at dressing Apex characters in familiar costumes. Fighter Gear, third-person transformations, a dedicated gauge system and the unlimited Showdown finale make this a genuine gameplay crossover—and potentially one of Wildcard’s most chaotic experiments so far.
