A successful extraction might fill the stash, but the runs players remember are usually the ones that go completely off the rails. ARC Raiders has released September Community Highlights: Part 2, once again handing the spotlight over to its players and compiling the unpredictable fights, escapes, accidents and moments of improvisation emerging naturally from life in the Rust Belt.

Embark Studios is also continuing to reward Raiders willing to record those stories. Players can submit their best gameplay clips through the official ARC Raiders Discord, and anyone selected for a future Community Highlights video receives the exclusive Film Reel Backpack Charm alongside 1,150 Raider Tokens — turning one memorable deployment into both recognition from Embark and a substantial amount of premium currency.

The best ARC Raiders moments are rarely part of the plan

Extraction games are unusually good at generating stories nobody designed beforehand.

A deployment may begin with something mundane: find a particular resource, finish a quest, open a few containers and leave before anything goes wrong.

Then an ARC patrol arrives.

Another Raider hears the gunfire.

Somebody gets downed in the worst possible position.

The extraction suddenly becomes contested.

A plan that looked completely sensible five minutes earlier turns into a sequence of improvised decisions where surviving is considerably more important than whatever objective originally brought the squad Topside.

That unpredictability is exactly what the Community Highlights format captures.

Instead of trying to reproduce those moments through a carefully directed trailer, Embark lets players demonstrate what happens when ARC Raiders' interconnected systems collide during real matches.

Mechanical skill is only part of what makes a clip worth watching

A community montage for a competitive multiplayer game could easily become a collection of perfect shots and high-level eliminations.

ARC Raiders has more possibilities than that.

An impressive firefight can obviously make the cut, but the game's structure leaves room for entirely different kinds of memorable footage: unlikely escapes, accidental betrayals, strange interactions with ARC machines, desperate revives, unexpected cooperation and decisions that should never have worked but somehow did.

That distinction fits the identity Embark has built around the game.

ARC Raiders describes itself as an extraction adventure, combining the tension and permanent risk associated with extraction shooters with a world built around exploration and emergent encounters. Players are simultaneously dealing with hostile machines and other Raiders, creating situations where no two deployments unfold in exactly the same way.

Community Highlights effectively turns those unscripted situations into part of the game's official media.

Getting featured comes with an exclusive badge

Recognition is not the only reward.

Any Raider whose submitted footage is selected receives the Film Reel Backpack Charm.

The cosmetic is particularly appropriate because it works almost like an in-game badge for community creators. It does not represent completing a difficult raid objective or finishing a progression track. It marks something entirely external to the normal extraction loop: a player's footage was memorable enough for Embark to include in an official showcase.

That gives the charm a different kind of scarcity from ordinary store cosmetics.

It identifies someone who contributed directly to the community reel.

For players who enjoy collecting items tied to specific events, competitions or achievements, that provenance may ultimately matter more than the appearance of the charm itself.

1,150 Raider Tokens makes the reward considerably more substantial

Featured Raiders also receive 1,150 Raider Tokens.

That number has become particularly notable because Raider Tokens form ARC Raiders' premium currency economy, and 1,150 is also the amount attached to several of the game's premium progression offerings.

The upcoming Frozen Trail Premium Reward Pass, for example, costs 1,150 Raider Tokens. Embark has confirmed that completing the premium track will return those 1,150 Tokens, while the accompanying free track contains an additional 200.

That gives the Community Highlights prize tangible value beyond buying an individual cosmetic.

A player selected by Embark could effectively use those 1,150 Tokens toward the next premium progression track, spend them elsewhere in the store or simply keep them for future content.

The exact purchasing decision remains with the player.

Recording your disasters suddenly makes a lot more sense

The reward structure also creates an amusing incentive around how people play.

Extraction shooters typically encourage caution because everything valuable carried Topside can potentially disappear after one bad decision.

Community Highlights introduces another calculation.

That ridiculous encounter might be a disaster for the stash, but it could still be valuable footage.

A failed extraction involving an extraordinary chain of events can potentially make a better video than a perfectly controlled run in which nothing surprising happens.

That does not mean players should deliberately throw away their equipment for content, but it does mean that failure no longer automatically makes a deployment forgettable.

Sometimes the clip is the reward.

Embark has been turning Community Highlights into a recurring tradition

September's second reel is not a one-off experiment.

Embark has repeatedly used Community Highlights throughout the year to showcase player-submitted footage. Previous monthly compilations have followed the same general philosophy: gather the strange, impressive or chaotic situations happening across live servers and put the community rather than the developers at the center of the video.

The Film Reel charm and 1,150 Raider Token reward have also become a recurring incentive for submissions.

That consistency is important.

A single montage can function as promotion. A recurring series becomes something closer to a community program, with players actively recording deployments because there is an established route from an ordinary match to an official ARC Raiders video.

There is always the possibility that the next absurd encounter becomes part of the next reel.

Community clips show a side of the game trailers cannot manufacture

Official gameplay trailers have a very different job.

They need to introduce maps, gadgets, enemies, weapons and systems in a way viewers can immediately understand.

Community footage demonstrates what those systems actually become once thousands of people begin exploiting, misunderstanding and combining them.

That difference is particularly pronounced in ARC Raiders.

A machine is not just an enemy designed by Embark once another squad uses its presence to ambush you.

An extraction point is not simply an exit when two groups arrive simultaneously.

A gadget designed for one obvious tactical purpose may become something completely different when a creative player discovers an unusual interaction.

The development team provides the pieces.

The community creates the stories between them.

The next update could make future highlight reels even stranger

The timing of September Community Highlights: Part 2 is also interesting because ARC Raiders is only days away from its largest expansion since launch.

Frozen Trail arrives on October 8, introducing the new Pendola Pass map beyond the Rust Belt's mountain range.

The area contains an abandoned Italian settlement and former Exodus transport hub, but its defining landmark is far more unusual: a fallen Emperor, something Embark describes as unprecedented within the world of ARC Raiders.

Naturally, Raiders intend to loot it.

Naturally, ARC has other ideas.

The Frigate should create plenty of future clips

Among the threats responding to the fallen Emperor is the Frigate, one of the largest ARC vessels introduced so far.

Players will be able to board the machine, navigate its interior, unlock routes and fight ARC enemies while hundreds of feet above the ground.

The real complication is that other Raiders can be pursuing exactly the same objective.

Embark explicitly frames the encounter around a choice between cooperation and conflict, particularly because the close-quarters environment and overall scale of the operation may demand different tactics from ordinary surface encounters.

From a Community Highlights perspective, the possibilities are fairly obvious.

Multiple squads trapped inside a gigantic flying ARC machine sounds like an efficient way to generate footage that goes wrong very quickly.

Tethers are practically designed for chaos

Frozen Trail will also introduce the Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade.

The Tether Launcher connects two points with a wire capable of rooting targets in place. Embark says it can even be used to tether Raiders to ARC units, creating the possibility of watching an unfortunate player get dragged away.

The Yank Grenade applies the same basic concept more explosively, pulling nearby targets with substantial force and potentially ripping enemies out of cover or smashing flying ARC units into the ground.

Mechanically, both gadgets add new crowd-control possibilities.

For anyone interested in future Community Highlights, they also look like highly efficient machines for producing humiliating footage.

The October compilations may be interesting.

ARC Raiders is even adding a proper camera

Perhaps the most fitting Frozen Trail addition in the context of Community Highlights is a fully functioning Camera gadget.

Embark says the new tool will include zoom, aperture controls, manual and automatic focus racking and a selfie mode with dedicated emotes.

Photographs can be stored in the Codex, giving players another way to preserve what happens during their excursions rather than relying exclusively on platform-level screenshots or video capture.

It is an unusually natural fit for a game whose community has already demonstrated an appetite for documenting Topside.

Embark specifically credits the photographs players have been taking through Binoculars as part of the inspiration behind the feature.

The studio has been watching the community document its world, and now it is building dedicated tools to encourage them.

Frozen Trail also rewrites the progression system

October 8 will make another relevant change for anyone wondering what 1,150 Raider Tokens can actually buy.

The existing Raider Deck structure is evolving into Reward Passes.

Embark says the previous Cred-based system created a problem because long-term players could accumulate enough currency to instantly complete newly released Raider Decks, undermining the feeling of progression.

Reward Passes instead advance through Feats and XP, with separate free and premium tracks.

The Frozen Trail Free Pass includes five outfits, gameplay items, 20 additional cosmetics and 200 Raider Tokens. The Premium Pass adds exclusive colorways, premium outfit toggles, hairstyles, Weapon Stencils and 1,150 Raider Tokens.

The premium track itself costs 1,150 Raider Tokens.

That makes the Community Highlights prize almost suspiciously well timed.

The Film Reel reward may become even more meaningful over time

Premium currency can always be spent.

An exclusive recognition cosmetic works differently.

As Community Highlights continue, the Film Reel Backpack Charm gradually becomes a small piece of ARC Raiders community history.

A Raider wearing it is effectively carrying evidence that a moment from one of their deployments escaped the match itself and became part of Embark's official record of the game.

That kind of cosmetic cannot really be recreated through rarity percentages.

Its value comes from the story behind it.

And in a game built around stories emerging from risky expeditions, that feels appropriate.

The Rust Belt is becoming a player-created highlight factory

September Community Highlights: Part 2 ultimately does not need a new weapon, balance patch or major feature to justify its existence.

Its subject is everything players are already doing.

ARC Raiders provides machines, loot, weapons, gadgets, maps and extraction points. The unpredictable part begins when Raiders enter those spaces with their own plans and discover that everyone else has one too.

Sometimes the result is an exceptional play.

Sometimes it is a perfect escape.

Sometimes everyone involved makes an indefensible decision and somehow survives anyway.

Embark wants those clips.

Players who think their latest deployment deserves a larger audience can submit footage through the official ARC Raiders Discord for consideration in future Community Highlights. Selected Raiders receive the exclusive Film Reel Backpack Charm and 1,150 Raider Tokens.

With Frozen Trail arriving on October 8 and introducing a massive new map, a Frigate full of competing Raiders, tether gadgets and even a dedicated camera, September's second compilation may soon look relatively restrained.

Topside never sleeps.

Apparently, someone should always be recording it.
