BLEACH Brave Souls turns Episode 45’s new Ichigo into a playable powerhouse with The Calamity Tie-In Project Round 2

24/08/2026 - 09:00

BLEACH Brave Souls is continuing one of the most aggressive anime-to-game collaborations in its history. The Calamity Tie-In Project Summons: Round 2 is live now, introducing a new Thousand-Year Blood War 2026 version of Ichigo Kurosaki based directly on his appearance in Episode 45 of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity. The banner opened on August 23 at 19:00 JST and remains available until September 14 at 15:59 JST, meaning KLab made the newly animated version of Ichigo playable less than a day after Japanese viewers watched him unleash his latest transformation against Yhwach.

Episode 45, “DEFEND YOU,” is itself one of the most important episodes of the final cour so far. TV Tokyo’s official synopsis confirms that the destruction of the Three Worlds is becoming an immediate reality while Ichigo confronts Yhwach in Wahrwelt, awakens the Hollow power inside himself and enters a half-Hollowfied state before firing a Gran Rey Cero fused with Getsuga. Aniplex went further after the episode aired, formally unveiling the new Ichigo form and confirming that Tite Kubo personally provided its character design and name.

Brave Souls wastes virtually no time translating that spectacle into gameplay. The new Ichigo is a ranged strong-attack character built around Weaken+, Human Killer+, Frenzy +4 and an unusually aggressive 12-second EX Move, while Round 2 also continues the unusually generous anniversary Summons structure established by July’s Yoruichi release: 1% individual rates for each featured five-star, 6% overall featured five-star probability, a featured guarantee at Step 5, a selectable character ticket at Step 10 and Calamity Medals earned through every Summons Step that can eventually be exchanged for the new Ichigo himself.

Episode 45 gives KLab exactly the kind of Ichigo transformation Brave Souls was built to reproduce

The timing is the defining feature of The Calamity Tie-In Project. Instead of waiting months for an anime moment to filter into the game, KLab is treating the final Thousand-Year Blood War cour almost like a live content pipeline. Round 1 did this with Yoruichi’s Episode 41 appearance, launching a new 2026 version of the character through a similarly structured banner. Round 2 now jumps directly to Episode 45 and one of Ichigo’s most significant new animated states.

TV Tokyo describes “DEFEND YOU” as the point where the threat of the Three Worlds collapsing becomes tangible. Ichigo, having understood Uryu Ishida’s true intentions and reaffirmed his determination to protect the worlds, confronts Yhwach after the Quincy King has evolved into a being surpassing even his previous Almighty state. During that confrontation, Ichigo draws out the Hollow power sleeping within him, becomes half-Hollowfied and fires a Gran Rey Cero combined with Getsuga, only for Yhwach to withstand the attack and challenge the weakness inherent in Ichigo’s desire to protect.

The anime also gives the form additional importance beyond what existed previously. Aniplex confirmed on August 22 that Tite Kubo personally created and named this new manifestation, calling it 血鎖の一護, a name that can be rendered literally as something close to “Blood-Chain Ichigo.” The visual incorporates prominent blood-like chains and further develops the Hollow characteristics now intertwined with Ichigo’s Bankai. Because KLab’s Round 2 character is explicitly identified as the Ichigo featured in Episode 45, Brave Souls becomes one of the first games to give players direct control over this newly televised interpretation almost immediately after its debut.

Round 2 is more than a normal Thousand-Year Blood War banner

The Summons structure matters because KLab is not simply placing one desirable character behind a conventional 6% banner and leaving the rest to probability. The Calamity Tie-In Project Summons: Round 2 runs from August 23 at 19:00 JST until September 14 at 15:59 JST, with the 11th Anniversary rules giving every individual featured five-star character a 1% draw rate and the featured five-star pool a combined 6% rate. KLab also states that the guaranteed five-star draw attached to the x10 Summons can produce either a featured or another non-featured five-star character.

The first major safety point arrives at Step 5, which guarantees a featured five-star character. That does not automatically mean Ichigo, because he shares featured status with the rest of the banner pool, but it removes the possibility of reaching that milestone without receiving one of the promoted units. Step 10 is considerably more decisive: it guarantees another five-star and awards a Choose a New or Selected ★5 Summons Ticket (Aug. 2026). That ticket allows the player to choose one character directly from the specified selection, and the new Thousand-Year Blood War 2026 Ichigo is included among the available choices.

For anyone whose primary objective is the new Ichigo rather than duplicates or filler characters, Step 10 therefore acts as a clear endpoint. Even a disastrous sequence of earlier pulls cannot prevent the player from selecting him once that ticket is obtained. The Calamity exchange creates another safety mechanism on top of that, making this banner structurally very different from older Brave Souls releases where repeatedly missing one specific unit could consume enormous quantities of Spirit Orbs without producing a deterministic path to the target.

Every Step also contributes toward directly exchanging for Ichigo

Round 2 introduces The Calamity Tie-In Project Exchange, Round 2, using a structure almost identical to Yoruichi’s first round. Players receive free Calamity Tie-In Project Medals at every Summons Step, and those medals can eventually be exchanged for the new Ichigo. The Exchange also contains progression resources such as ★3 Rarity Keys, meaning continued Summons investment produces a secondary currency rather than leaving unsuccessful pulls completely isolated from the desired character.

This is particularly important because it changes how players can evaluate bad luck. The headline 1% individual featured rate still means pulling Ichigo naturally is never guaranteed on any ordinary Step, but the banner is surrounded by multiple forms of deterministic progression. Step 5 forces a featured character, Step 10 gives a direct selection ticket, and the Calamity Medals accumulate toward another Ichigo route. The system does not eliminate gacha randomness, especially for players chasing several copies for Special Move levels, but it significantly reduces the possibility of spending deeply without eventually having a defined way to secure at least one copy.

Round 1 established the same philosophy with Yoruichi. That July banner awarded Calamity Medals at every Step that could be exchanged for her while also using Step 5 and Step 10 guarantees. Round 2 retaining those rules suggests this is a deliberate identity for The Calamity Tie-In Project rather than a one-off anniversary concession.

The new Ichigo is a ranged strong-attack unit centered completely on Weaken+

Mechanically, the Episode 45 Ichigo is built as a ranged strong-attack character, with every attack capable of inflicting Weaken+. KLab’s own character breakdown explains that once Weaken+ lands, damage Ichigo receives from the affected enemy is reduced to just 1 while his own damage against that enemy increases. That interaction already provides both defensive and offensive utility, but almost everything else in his kit is designed to make the status easier to inflict and much more valuable once active.

His second strong attack is classified as a Superior Strong Attack, giving it greater offensive value than a normal strong attack, while the core Frenzy +4 skill dramatically increases the hit density of his strong-attack kit. Frenzy adds extra hits to strong attacks; a +4 version is consequently a major damage multiplier while also generating repeated opportunities for Weaken+ to trigger. The result is a character whose damage loop is not built around landing one enormous isolated attack but around saturating enemies with enough hits that the status-ailment package can become active consistently.

That distinction is important because Ichigo’s largest modifiers activate only after an ailment has been inflicted. If Weaken+ fails to land, a substantial part of the kit remains dormant. KLab therefore gives him both high hit count and an affiliation-specific status skill to minimize that weakness.

Greater Status Ailment Chance Against Humans +20% makes his Killer choice far more coherent

The most unusual headline choice is Human Killer+. From a narrative perspective, assigning Human Killer to this version of Ichigo is not immediately intuitive, particularly when Episode 45 depicts him fighting Yhwach rather than ordinary human opponents. Mechanically, however, Brave Souls Killer affiliations are primarily tools for defining which Guild Quest and Limit Breaker environments a character is expected to dominate rather than literal statements about who that character wants to kill.

KLab reinforces the Human specialization with Greater Status Ailment Chance Against Humans +20%. The company introduced stronger versions of affiliation-specific status skills during the 11th Anniversary period; in its earlier explanations, KLab noted that the new +20% version doubles the effect value of older +10% affiliation-based status chance skills. In Ichigo’s case, that means Human enemies are not merely taking extra Killer damage — they are also the targets against whom his entire Weaken+ engine becomes most reliable.

The synergy is straightforward. Human Killer+ raises his effectiveness against the relevant affiliation, the +20% ailment skill makes Weaken+ significantly easier to apply to those targets, and once Weaken+ activates, his Spiritual Pressure and damage modifiers begin stacking. KLab specifically identifies him as a strong option for difficult Guild Quests and Limit Breaker Quests with Human Killer and increased ranged-damage rules, confirming that the affiliation choice is a deliberate endgame-content specialization rather than an arbitrary character-label decision.

High-Speed Homing Vortex may be the most important part of the kit

Ichigo’s EX Move is High-Speed Homing Vortex, and KLab clearly intends it to be more than an occasional cinematic attack. The vortex tracks enemies at high speed, lands many hits and operates on an unusually short 12-second cooldown. Its high hit count makes it another extremely efficient way to fish for Weaken+ applications, particularly when normal strong attacks are recovering.

That short cooldown changes the practical rhythm of the character. EX Moves can sometimes feel like supplemental abilities used only during specific damage windows, but a 12-second cycle makes High-Speed Homing Vortex part of Ichigo’s normal rotation. Because the projectile tracks rather than requiring enemies to remain in one stationary area, it also reduces one of the traditional weaknesses of vortex-type abilities: losing value when enemies spread out or move away from the initial cast point.

Its real purpose becomes clear when combined with Greater Status Ailment Chance Against Humans and Frenzy +4. Ichigo is repeatedly generating high-hit-count attacks from several parts of the kit, so Weaken+ becomes less dependent on one lucky proc. The vortex pursues targets, the regular strong attacks continue producing repeated hits, and every successful Weaken application opens the door to the character’s largest Spiritual Pressure and conditional-damage boosts.

Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +100% turns Weaken into the ignition switch

The new Ichigo carries Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +100%, one of the most important numbers in the entire kit. Once he inflicts a status ailment, his Spiritual Pressure receives an enormous temporary increase, dramatically raising the damage potential of subsequent strong attacks and his Special Move. KLab directly pairs that skill with two EX bonuses: EX Damage to Weakened Enemies +35% and EX Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +30%.

The character consequently has a clear two-state damage profile. Before Weaken+ activates, he is already a Frenzy +4 ranged strong-attacker with a superior SA2. After it activates, the kit escalates sharply: the normal Spiritual Pressure boost comes online, the EX Spiritual Pressure modifier contributes further value and the target itself becomes vulnerable to the EX Damage to Weakened Enemies bonus. Instead of treating status ailments as a secondary utility effect, KLab has built Ichigo so that inflicting Weaken is effectively the trigger for his maximum offensive state.

This also explains why the 12-second EX vortex matters so much. High-Speed Homing Vortex is not merely additional DPS; it is a recurring tool designed to switch the rest of the build on. In stages with large numbers of Human enemies, the combination of high hit count and increased affiliation-specific ailment chance should make it difficult for the character to remain outside that boosted state for long.

Frenzy +4 continues the 11th Anniversary’s extreme strong-attack power escalation

KLab has been increasingly comfortable giving 2026 anniversary characters extremely aggressive strong-attack packages. The new Ichigo joins characters such as the latest Genryusai and Yoruichi with Frenzy +4, a level of hit-count amplification that immediately places enormous weight on strong-attack scaling and status interaction. Round 1 Yoruichi combined Frenzy +4 with Paralysis+, superior strong attacks and multiple paralysis-dependent modifiers; the Episode 45 Ichigo follows the same general design philosophy but translates it into Weaken+, ranged combat and Human-focused content.

The difference lies in how their utility operates. Paralysis+ attempts to immobilize enemies, while Weaken+ directly manipulates the damage exchange by reducing incoming damage from affected targets and increasing what Ichigo can inflict. That makes his status especially attractive in content where enemies survive long enough to retaliate. He is not simply racing to clear before being hit; once the ailment activates, the target itself becomes dramatically less threatening.

Frenzy +4 also makes failed ailment rolls less punishing because every strong attack contains so many more individual hits. Combined with the 20% Human-specific ailment skill and the high-hit EX vortex, the entire kit is engineered around reducing the randomness normally associated with status-dependent damage builds.

Strong Attack Recharge -14% gives Ichigo value even after another attacker eventually replaces him

The new Ichigo’s Soul Trait is Strong Attack Recharge Time -14%, already one of the most universally useful links for strong-attack characters. His long-term account value becomes considerably stronger because placing him in the first Character Link slot also allows his two EX Skills — EX Damage to Weakened Enemies +35% and EX Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +30% — to be shared with the linked character.

That means Ichigo has two separate lives on an account. Initially, he can function as the primary controlled attacker in Human-focused ranged content. Later, even if power creep introduces another unit with better raw damage, his combination of -14% recharge and two status-oriented EX link effects can remain useful behind another Weaken-capable strong attacker.

This is increasingly important in Brave Souls because character evaluation is no longer limited to how one unit performs while directly controlled. EX Skills have turned the first link slot into another layer of roster optimization. A character with a valuable shareable effect can remain relevant even after their personal combat performance is surpassed, and this Ichigo’s two EX skills are specifically aligned with the same Weaken-centric archetype likely to benefit from his recharge Soul Trait.

Freeze Resistance 200% and Poise Break make the package much safer in endgame PvE

KLab also gives Ichigo Freeze Resistance 200%, providing protection even against Freeze+ effects, and Poise Break outside Brave Battles. The latter allows him to disrupt PvE enemies that would otherwise ignore hit-stun through Poise, another reason KLab explicitly highlights him for Guild Quest and Limit Breaker environments rather than PvP.

These skills are less visually exciting than the new transformation or the EX vortex, but they determine whether a powerful damage kit remains comfortable in high-difficulty content. A character dependent on constant strong-attack rotations loses enormous value if crowd-control ailments repeatedly interrupt those rotations, and Freeze resistance directly removes one such failure state. Poise Break similarly prevents durable enemies from simply walking through the attack sequence and retaliating while Ichigo is casting.

The overall kit therefore looks deliberately specialized rather than universally overloaded. Human Killer+, ranged damage, Weaken+, Freeze protection and Poise Break define a very specific type of difficult PvE stage where Ichigo should be extremely effective. He is not being marketed as a Brave Battles replacement or a one-character answer to every affiliation.

Round 2 shows exactly what makes the Calamity project different from ordinary anime tie-ins

The most impressive part of the release may ultimately be speed rather than statistics. Episode 45 aired on Japanese television on August 22 at 23:00 JST. The Calamity Round 2 banner opened the following evening on August 23 at 19:00 JST. Players were therefore able to watch Ichigo’s new transformation battle Yhwach, see Aniplex formally unveil Kubo’s design and then control a Brave Souls version of that same Ichigo almost immediately.

Community reaction has understandably focused on that turnaround. Players discussing Round 2 have repeatedly highlighted how unusual it feels to watch a new anime episode and receive the corresponding unit effectively the next day. That response mirrors what made Round 1’s Yoruichi release notable and helps explain why The Calamity Tie-In Project feels different from a normal licensed crossover. Brave Souls is not collaborating with another property here; it is synchronizing itself with the newest material from the anime it was built to celebrate.

This also creates a compelling reason to follow the final cour week by week. Every major animated character moment potentially becomes relevant to the game, although KLab has not publicly confirmed the identity or timing of any hypothetical Round 3 character. Speculation around future Aizen, Yhwach, Orihime, Kisuke or other releases is already widespread, but none should be treated as announced until KLab formally reveals another Calamity round.

The banner arrives in the middle of an extremely crowded 11th Anniversary period

Round 2 does not exist in isolation. Brave Souls players have already been moving through a particularly dense 11th Anniversary schedule containing the main anniversary releases, Thousand-Year Blood War banners and a dedicated 11th Anniversary Aizen Summons running from August 15 through August 31. That Aizen banner itself uses the same broader anniversary philosophy of individual 1% featured rates, a Step 5 featured guarantee and a selectable ticket at Step 10.

Earlier, the Thousand-Year Blood War Zenith Summons: Destiny featured new 2026 versions of Genryusai, Yhwach and Jugram, while Round 1 of Calamity introduced Yoruichi. This means players evaluating Episode 45 Ichigo are doing so after several consecutive high-value banners rather than during a quiet month.

That context makes the deterministic elements especially important. Spirit Orb management is one of Brave Souls’ central long-term decisions, and repeatedly releasing high-profile Thousand-Year Blood War characters during an anniversary could make another 1% target difficult to justify for accounts already depleted by earlier pulls. Step 10 providing a direct selection and the Calamity Exchange providing another route to Ichigo make the decision easier to quantify: players know where the guaranteed milestones are rather than committing to an indefinite chase.

The new form also demonstrates how tightly Brave Souls now follows the anime rather than only the manga

BLEACH Brave Souls has always drawn from an enormous range of source material, including anime, manga concepts, novels and game-original designs, but The Calamity Tie-In Project represents a particularly close relationship with the ongoing television production. Episode 45’s version of Ichigo is notable because the anime is not merely reproducing an old visual unchanged. Aniplex specifically says Tite Kubo drew and named the newly presented form for the episode, giving it an identity tied directly to the current adaptation.

That makes the Brave Souls version more than another remake of an existing Ichigo. Its value for collectors lies partly in documenting a precise moment in the final Thousand-Year Blood War cour while that moment is still new. Round 1 worked similarly by taking Yoruichi from Episode 41 instead of waiting for a conventional end-of-cour batch of characters.

For a game now celebrating its eleventh anniversary, this is a useful strategy. Brave Souls has adapted Ichigo many times; simply producing another generic version risks diminishing returns. Anchoring a unit to an anime transformation that debuted the previous day gives even the franchise’s most frequently represented protagonist a clear reason to exist again.

Round 2 turns Ichigo’s new Hollow power into a deliberately oppressive PvE kit

The Calamity Tie-In Project Summons: Round 2 ultimately succeeds because the gameplay design reflects the aggression of the Episode 45 material rather than merely reproducing its costume. Anime Ichigo awakens deeper Hollow power while confronting the strongest opponent in the series; Brave Souls Ichigo becomes a ranged strong-attack specialist whose entire kit is built to overwhelm targets once Weaken+ connects.

Frenzy +4 supplies extreme hit density. Greater Status Ailment Chance Against Humans +20% makes the central ailment more reliable against his intended targets. High-Speed Homing Vortex gives him a fast-tracking, multi-hit EX attack with only a 12-second cooldown. Weaken+ simultaneously suppresses enemy damage and improves his offensive position, while Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +100%, EX Status Ailment Spiritual Pressure Boost +30% and EX Damage to Weakened Enemies +35% convert that ailment into a substantial damage spike. Human Killer+, Freeze Resistance 200% and Poise Break complete a package KLab explicitly designed for difficult Human-focused ranged Guild Quest and Limit Breaker content.

The Summons surrounding him is equally important. Round 2 remains available until September 14 at 15:59 JST, Step 5 guarantees a featured five-star, Step 10 guarantees a five-star plus a Choose a New or Selected ★5 Summons Ticket that includes the new Ichigo, and every Step produces Calamity Medals that can be spent through the Round 2 Exchange, including toward Ichigo himself.

For BLEACH fans, however, the most remarkable feature may be simpler. On August 22, Ichigo’s new form appeared on television as he confronted Yhwach and awakened the Hollow power within him. By August 23, Brave Souls players could already add that moment to their roster.

After eleven years, KLab has found a particularly effective way to make an old mobile game feel synchronized with BLEACH’s newest chapter rather than merely commemorating its past.
