Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned kicks off the first major story DLC for Borderlands 4

Chaos returns to Pandora with the announcement of Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, the first major narrative expansion for Borderlands 4, arriving as a paid DLC on March 26.

This new expansion introduces a standalone adventure with a cosmic-horrortheme, where players will team up with Ellie to explore the mysterious territory of Whispering Glacier—a brand-new map teeming with quests, secrets, and never-before-seen enemies.

A key highlight of the DLC is the arrival of C4SH, a new playable Vault Hunter known as C4SH the Rogue. This character will be available not only in the DLC campaign but also across the base game and all other downloadable content.

Whispering Glacier serves as the primary stage for this story, offering new main missions, side missions, activities, and collectibles to expand the game's world. On the combat front, players will face two new major bosses, 16 minibosses, and several entirely new enemy types.

The DLC also bolsters the loot system with three Pearlescent weapons and eleven new Legendary loot, including weapons, gear, and Class Mods. Furthermore, 28 new items will be added for character customization.

With its blend of exploration, new foes, and exclusive loot, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned promises to be the most ambitious expansion for Borderlands 4 to date. The question is clear: when the Vault of the Damned swings open… will you have the guts to enter and claim its bounty?
