Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is preparing to transform its Multiplayer offering when Season 06 launches on September 17, 2026. The update introduces the brand-new Quantum map, a horrifying version of Homestead called Bloodstead and T.E.D.D. Trials, an experimental limited-time playlist that converts three locations from Zombies into competitive 6v6 battlegrounds.
These additions form part of The Haunting, Call of Duty’s returning Halloween celebration. Horror will spread across Black Ops 7 and Warzone through new maps, modes, Zombies content, weapons, events and themed rewards. For Multiplayer players, however, the most important change is the combination of a traditional new arena with several less conventional crossovers between PvP and the undead.
There is an important distinction within the announced map lineup. Quantum is a completely new medium-sized 6v6 map, while Bloodstead is a seasonal retheme of the existing Homestead layout. Roadkill, Inferno and Lost are not being added as ordinary Core maps; they will appear inside the special T.E.D.D. Trials playlist, where competitive objectives, Ray Guns and zombie hordes collide.
Quantum Buries a Guild Facility Beneath the Arctic Ice
Quantum is the only entirely new conventional Multiplayer map included in the Season 06 launch lineup. It takes Operators into a Guild quantum computing facility buried beneath the Arctic ice, where structural damage has opened additional paths through the frozen complex.
Activision describes Quantum as a narrow, medium-sized 6v6 map divided between exposed exterior spaces and more confined interiors. Outside, players will move through areas including the Courtyard, Square and Catwalk, contending with snow, cold conditions and longer lines of sight. Inside the facility, the Servers, Maintenance and Hallway sections compress combat into tighter spaces.
The frozen Turbine is another important interior landmark, while the damaged Tower occupies the center of the map. Openings on all four sides make the Tower accessible from multiple directions, and dense cover should prevent it from becoming a straightforward defensive position. A concealed central flanking route gives coordinated teams another way to challenge players attempting to hold the structure.
Damage to the Tower’s roof also allows aerial scorestreaks to reach combatants inside. That design choice should prevent the central building from becoming completely protected from threats above, forcing defenders to monitor both ground-level entrances and attacks arriving through the damaged structure.
Based on the official layout description, Quantum appears designed to alternate rapidly between close-range engagements and more exposed exterior firefights. SMGs and shotguns should be effective through the facility’s narrower rooms, while assault rifles and other versatile weapons may have an advantage when controlling transitions between indoor and outdoor areas.
The Tower is likely to become one of the most contested positions, but the number of entrances should make holding it difficult without communication. Players who concentrate exclusively on its visible approaches may be vulnerable to the concealed route through the center, while defenders who remain stationary risk being targeted through the roof.
Quantum’s structure also appears suitable for objective modes. Its central landmark can draw both teams toward a common conflict zone, while the surrounding indoor and outdoor routes provide alternatives for flanking, rotations and spawn-to-objective movement. Its real competitive value will depend on spawn behaviour and objective placement, details that will only become clear once the map enters the live rotation.
Bloodstead Corrupts the Familiar Homestead
Bloodstead is not a completely new layout. It is a horror-themed reinterpretation of Homestead, maintaining a recognizable foundation while radically changing its atmosphere for The Haunting.
The Mason family home has become the center of an unexplained nightmare. Water throughout the location has turned into blood, zombies patrol the perimeter and trails of gore cover the environment. Several familiar areas have also received gruesome new identities.
The Corpse House and Blood Shed contain bodies hanging from their rafters, while the kitchen inside Cyst Lodge is overflowing with gore. A mysterious eye watches over the violence from upstairs, reinforcing the idea that something within the corrupted Homestead is observing the match.
Because Bloodstead is officially classified as a retheme, returning players should expect the underlying navigation and combat rhythm of Homestead to remain recognizable. The value of the map comes from applying The Haunting’s visual identity to an established arena rather than asking everyone to learn an entirely unfamiliar layout.
That familiarity can be useful during a major seasonal update. Quantum provides the genuinely new map-learning experience, while Bloodstead offers immediate accessibility to players who already understand Homestead’s routes, sightlines and power positions.
A successful retheme must nevertheless do more than change the lighting and cover the environment in Halloween decorations. The most memorable Call of Duty variants use atmosphere, environmental storytelling and altered visibility to make an established layout feel different without sacrificing its mechanical readability. Bloodstead’s blood-filled water, undead presence and transformed interiors give it a strong thematic foundation, although its full effect will depend on how clearly enemies remain visible amid the darker scenery.
T.E.D.D. Trials Brings Zombies Maps Into 6v6 Multiplayer
T.E.D.D. Trials is the most unusual Multiplayer addition arriving at launch. The limited-time mode introduces three iconic Zombies locations to Black Ops 7 Multiplayer for the first time, combining competitive 6v6 action with rotating tasks and attacks from the undead.
Matches select a random sequence of five T.E.D.D. Trials. Both teams must fight each other, complete the assigned tasks and survive the zombie horde while the objectives cycle. Ray Guns are available during the competition, giving Operators access to one of the most recognizable weapons in Call of Duty Zombies.
Victory goes to the first team that reaches the score limit. If neither side reaches that target before time expires, the team with the highest score wins.
This structure makes T.E.D.D. Trials different from a conventional Team Deathmatch played on a Zombies map. Eliminating rival Operators remains important, but the winning team must respond to the current trial, manage the horde and use the available wonder weapons effectively. A squad concentrating entirely on player kills could lose to opponents who adapt more quickly to the rotating tasks.
The three maps included in the playlist each originate from a different Black Ops 7 Zombies environment.
Roadkill
Roadkill is based on the Exit 115 location from Ashes of the Damned. Its trials take place around Reba’s Diner, bringing a recognizable roadside environment into a competitive Multiplayer format.
The location should create an immediate contrast between relatively exposed exterior ground and the more concentrated fighting around the diner. How Treyarch adapts the original Zombies space for balanced 6v6 spawns and objective rotations will be one of the playlist’s more interesting elements.
Inferno
Inferno transports the competition to the ancestral castle from Kowakujō. Operators will complete trials while active volcanoes and rivers of flowing lava surround the arena.
The setting gives Inferno a substantially different identity from Quantum’s frozen facility and Bloodstead’s corrupted rural property. It also creates a suitable bridge between The Haunting’s horror theme and the supernatural environments already established in Zombies.
Lost
Lost takes place around the remote Eidskallen Lighthouse from Totenreich. Players must cross a frigid island and race the opposing team through each successive trial.
Although Quantum also uses a frozen setting, Lost approaches it through an isolated coastal location rather than a technological complex. The lighthouse should give teams a prominent navigation point as they move between objectives and respond to the changing trial sequence.
Five Random Trials Should Keep Teams Moving
The random selection of five challenges is central to T.E.D.D. Trials. Teams cannot rely on a single fixed objective pattern for every match, which should reward adaptable loadouts and squads capable of changing their positioning quickly.
Ray Guns add another variable. These weapons can help clear the horde, but their presence also creates valuable targets for opposing players. Controlling access to powerful equipment may become just as important as completing the active trial.
The mode’s three-way pressure is what separates it from standard Multiplayer. Operators need to contest the enemy team, monitor zombies and pursue the current objective simultaneously. That can create moments where fighting another player is the wrong decision because both sides are being overwhelmed by the horde—or where allowing the undead to weaken an opponent becomes the most efficient strategy.
Its long-term replayability will depend on the variety of the available trials and the balance between PvP and PvE threats. If the zombies are too weak, they will become background distractions. If they are too dominant, competitive gunfights may feel secondary. The rotating objectives need to keep both parts of the mode relevant.
Hordepoint and Freeze Tag Expand the Seasonal Rotation
T.E.D.D. Trials will not be the only limited-time mode appearing during Season 06. Hordepoint returns later in the season, once again combining Hardpoint rules with roaming zombies.
When the Hardpoint is neutral, the undead attack both teams. Once a squad captures the objective, the zombies change allegiance and target only the opposing side. Red eyes indicate hostile zombies, while blue eyes show that the creature is temporarily fighting for the team controlling the Hardpoint.
That mechanic makes objective control even more valuable than in standard Hardpoint. Capturing the zone generates score while simultaneously turning an environmental threat into an attacking force.
Freeze Tag will also return during the season. In this 6v6 respawn mode, eliminated players become trapped inside blocks of ice. Teammates can free them by damaging the ice, while freezing the entire opposing squad awards a bonus. Proximity chat will be enabled, potentially adding another chaotic layer to the mode.
An additional Black Ops 7 Appreciation Moshpit is planned, combining Face Off and Core modes across highly rated maps from the previous year.
Ranked Play Begins a Shorter Final Sprint
Season 06 also introduces another season of Multiplayer Ranked Play using the maps, modes, settings and weapon restrictions associated with the Call of Duty League.
Activision has warned that this Ranked season will have a shortened runtime, making early participation more important for players pursuing its exclusive rewards. The seasonal track includes an M15 Mod 0 Assault Rifle Blueprint for earning five wins, alongside Calling Cards, weapon camos and other rewards connected to the Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent and Top 250 ranks.
Players finishing at the top of the leaderboard can earn animated rewards, including an exclusive Calling Card for the number-one competitor. Exact timing information for the shortened Ranked period will be available in-game.
The Haunting Spreads Beyond Multiplayer
The wider Season 06 update extends its horror theme throughout Black Ops 7. Zombies receives the Tenshu Survival map, set in the central keep of the Masaki family’s ancestral castle. Directed Mode arrives for the Rex Infernus Main Quest, while Starting Room confines players to the house for a more restrictive survival challenge.
Rogue Run expands with Paradox Junction and Kowakujō playlists, as well as new pedestal rewards including Pack-a-Punch IV, an Ultra-rarity weapon upgrade and Golden Armor. Players who have completed every Main Quest across the Round-Based Zombies maps will also gain access to a new surprise and additional rewards.
The Season 06 Battle Pass introduces the VMP SMG and TR51 Para Assault Rifle. Further seasonal activities and Weekly Challenges will provide access to the Arcblade melee weapon, Roc 20mm special weapon and three new attachments.
A Doom crossover anchors the seasonal rewards, while The Haunting also brings nighttime changes, supernatural threats and special events to other parts of Black Ops 7 and Warzone.
Three Different Approaches to New Multiplayer Content
Season 06 is not delivering three conventional new Core maps, but its Multiplayer offering is broader than a simple count suggests. Quantum provides a fresh competitive environment, Bloodstead transforms a familiar location for Halloween and T.E.D.D. Trials repurposes three Zombies spaces through an entirely different objective-based playlist.
That variety is the real strength of the update. Players looking for a traditional arena can learn Quantum’s damaged facility and central Tower. Homestead veterans can revisit a familiar layout under Bloodstead’s grotesque new identity. Anyone seeking something less predictable can enter T.E.D.D. Trials and balance 6v6 combat against rotating objectives, Ray Guns and zombie hordes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 06 launches across all supported platforms on September 17, 2026, at 9:00 AM PT.
