Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone are preparing for a heavy Season 05 launch on July 23, with a content drop that spreads across Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, Warzone and the new seasonal Battle Pass. The launch trailer sets the tone with a simple call — “All aboard” — but the actual update is broader than that line suggests: new Multiplayer maps, the Eidskallen Lighthouse Survival Map, the Drone Labs point of interest in Verdansk, new limited-time modes, new weapons and a new Battle Pass headline the next major seasonal reset.
Season 05 brings new battlegrounds to Black Ops 7
The Multiplayer side of Season 05 is led by Jubilee, a new map set in a rural Japanese town where a festival has turned into a combat zone. It is clearly being positioned as one of the launch pillars of the season, offering close-quarters fights through dense streets and festival spaces rather than a large, slow-paced battlefield.
Alongside Jubilee, Season 05 also brings back Frequency and Dig as remastered maps. Frequency returns players to a listening station in the mountains of Hunan, while Dig shifts combat to an archaeological site in Avalon. That mix gives the season a fairly broad Multiplayer map identity: one new small-town battleground, one surveillance-site remaster and one ruins-focused remaster.
The mid-season map lineup also looks more experimental. Turbo Tilt shrinks players down inside a pinball machine in a map inspired by Nuketown history, while Freerun: Descent adds a new obstacle-course-style Freerun experience. Those mid-season additions suggest Treyarch is using Season 05 not only to support standard PvP, but also to keep the more arcade-driven side of Black Ops alive.
The limited-time modes follow the same logic. Overdrive Domination rewards players for staying active, capturing objectives and chaining eliminations to earn stars and Operator buffs. Gauntlet Rush pushes teams through a rotating gauntlet of modes including Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint and Roulette. Cranked Moshpit also returns later in the season, bringing back the familiar pressure of eliminating enemies to keep the timer alive.
Zombies heads back to Eidskallen Lighthouse
For Zombies players, the headline launch addition is Eidskallen Lighthouse, a new Survival Map that places the crew on a confined section of the Totenreich Round-Based map. The setup is built around Beacon Island and its Lighthouse, with players pushing as far as possible while using the limited resources available across the frozen location.
This is a smart type of Zombies addition because Survival Maps usually work best when they strip the experience down to pressure, routing and escalation. Eidskallen Lighthouse gives players a tighter combat space, access to essentials such as Pack-a-Punch, Arsenal, Der Wunderfizz, Mystery Box, Armor Upgrades and Wall Buys, plus the Flammenfalle Trap to burn through waves of undead.
The map also includes milestone rewards for reaching specific rounds. Players can earn the Valhallan Animated Emblem for completing Round 10, the Eidskallen’s Light Weapon Charm for completing Round 25 and the Gift Card GobbleGum for completing Round 50. That gives high-round players a clear reason to return beyond simple leaderboard chasing.
Zombies also expands elsewhere at launch with Kowakujō Directed Mode, a Kowakujō Starting Room challenge and new Rogue Run: Astra Malorum playlists. The mid-season update will then push toward the final confrontation in the Black Ops 7 Zombies story with a new Round-Based map, plus the return of Widow’s Wine, a new GobbleGum and two legacy weapons.
Drone Labs changes Verdansk’s flow
On the Warzone side, the biggest launch addition is Drone Labs, a new point of interest in Verdansk located east of TV Station and south of Quarry. The facility is run by Automaton Labs and is tied directly to the season’s drone-heavy theme, with Supply Drones appearing across Verdansk and carrying valuable gear for squads able to shoot them down before rivals arrive.
The POI itself is built around two large L-shaped buildings connected by a Zipline and skybridge. Those buildings are divided between Administrative Offices and Research and Development, creating a mix of interior loot routes, rooftop engagements and multi-level fights. There is also a drone obstacle course outside, giving the area a stronger identity than a simple collection of warehouses.
Drone Labs also feeds into the new Lockdown Casual playlist, a 12v12 limited-time mode on Verdansk designed to help players learn the new POI while fighting over control zones. The mode uses constant respawns and random killstreak rewards, including options such as Juggernaut and War Machine, making it a lower-friction way to understand the layout before dropping there in standard matches.
Season 05 also adds the HKDs killstreak to Resurgence and Battle Royale, letting players call in Hunter Killer Drones against enemies. Later in the season, the Quickdrop Kit will arrive in Resurgence, cutting down squad redeployment time after completing a Most Wanted Contract.
A season built to touch every major Call of Duty audience
The strength of Season 05 is that it does not rely on a single mode to carry the update. Multiplayer gets new and returning maps. Zombies gets a compact Survival Map and broader mode support. Warzone gets a fresh Verdansk POI and drone-related gameplay hooks. Endgame gets the Burn Run Assignment and Ability Boosts, while the Battle Pass introduces new weapons including the FG42 Assault Rifle, Gremlin SMG, Mammoth LMG and Mace melee weapon across different unlock paths.
That breadth is useful, but it also creates the usual seasonal challenge: each audience will judge the update differently. Multiplayer players will care about map flow and Ranked stability. Zombies players will care about whether Eidskallen Lighthouse has enough replay value. Warzone players will judge Drone Labs by whether it creates good rotations or simply becomes another high-chaos hot drop.
For now, the launch package is substantial. Season 05 arrives on July 23, and its strongest advantage is coverage. Whether players are chasing new Multiplayer routes, high-round Zombies milestones or fresh fights in Verdansk, this is one of those seasonal updates designed to pull the entire Call of Duty ecosystem back onto the train at once.
