Even Jason Voorhees cannot shrug this one off. Dead by Daylight’s Hallowed Blight Collection has returned for Halloween 2026 with three new Very Rare Outfits for The Slasher, The Houndmaster and The Knight, infecting each Killer with the glowing orange serum, swollen mutations and grotesque organic growths that have defined one of Behaviour Interactive’s longest-running seasonal cosmetic lines. The collection became available on October 1, several weeks before this year’s Haunted by Daylight event begins, and immediately gives Jason one of his most extreme visual transformations since joining the game in June.

The new trailer treats the collection less like a costume showcase and more like another round of experimentation. That framing is essential to Hallowed Blight’s identity. These are not simply Halloween versions of existing Killers, but imagined results of exposing them to the same corruptive substance that ultimately consumed Talbot Grimes and transformed him into The Blight. Behaviour has used that premise for years to reinterpret wildly different bodies, diseases and supernatural conditions, and the 2026 lineup gives the artists three especially distinct subjects to mutilate.

Jason’s body finally meets something capable of changing it

The headline transformation is Blighted Slasher, Jason’s new Very Rare Outfit. Behaviour’s accompanying cosmetic descriptions present him as an unusually resistant test subject whose malevolence manifests physically through black roots erupting from his body, translucent skin and organs swollen beneath the surface. His hockey mask remains firmly attached, with the associated lore noting that attempting to remove it during experimentation was dangerous enough to nearly cost the researcher a hand.

That is an effective direction for a character whose visual identity is normally built around durability and simplicity. Jason generally does not need elaborate ornamentation to look threatening; the hockey mask, large frame and improvised weapons already communicate everything required. Hallowed Blight therefore avoids simply covering him in orange pustules and instead makes the corruption appear as though it is forcing its way outward from a body that refuses to stop functioning. The result preserves the recognizable silhouette while letting the serum distort what exists underneath it.

His weapon receives the same treatment. Skin Splitter retains the basic shape and brutal practicality expected from Jason while allowing pustules to grow around its handle and into his hand. It fits the Hallowed Blight philosophy particularly well because the collection has always treated the serum as something that does not respect the boundary between person, clothing and equipment. Jason is not wearing a Blighted costume; the mutation has effectively absorbed the things he carries into the transformation.

The Knight becomes inseparable from his three Guards

The Knight’s new Blighted Knight Outfit takes a different route by turning his relationship with the Guardia Compagnia into body horror. Tarhos Kovács normally fights alongside three loyal Guards — The Carnifex, The Assassin and The Jailer — whom he can send along patrol routes to hunt Survivors, break obstacles and pressure objectives. In the new cosmetic, that bond is represented directly on his corrupted body, where three distorted faces emerge from the mass beneath his armor.

Behaviour’s description is particularly effective because it links the mutation to something fundamental about the character rather than adding generic growths. The Knight rarely acts without his three companions, and the Blight effectively makes that relationship impossible to separate even physically. His armor is swollen with orange fluid and rotting tissue, while the cosmetic text describes the faces as trapped in perpetual anguish beneath the plate. His sword, Blightbane, has similarly become a conduit for the serum, with corruption running directly along the blade.

That approach follows one of the collection’s strongest traditions. The best Hallowed Blight designs do not merely make a Killer uglier; they imagine how the serum would interact with whatever already makes that Killer unusual. Albert Wesker’s version incorporated Uroboros, the Xenomorph’s mutation had to penetrate an alien exoskeleton, Chucky’s outfit experimented with a synthetic doll body and Springtrap fused the serum with decaying tissue inside machinery. The Knight gives Behaviour another opportunity to let the infection respond to character-specific mythology rather than repeat the same transformation every October.

The Houndmaster brings another kind of corruption into the collection

The Houndmaster completes the 2026 trio, giving Portia Maye her first Hallowed Blight appearance since entering Dead by Daylight through Doomed Course in November 2024. Her normal design already combines an imposing pirate captain with Snug, the dog that tracks, chases and physically grabs Survivors on command, so any reinterpretation has to account for a Killer whose identity depends on another living creature being present alongside her. Behaviour’s trailer confirms that her new Very Rare Outfit pushes the same orange-and-black corruption across her familiar maritime silhouette while preserving the recognizable relationship at the center of her character.

Portia is particularly suited to Hallowed Blight because her existing backstory is already full of bodily hardship and survival. She was marooned after a shipwreck, survived alongside Snug and eventually transformed herself into a feared captain driven by revenge against the man who murdered her father. The Blight adds a different kind of ordeal, turning a character defined by surviving physical extremity into another experimental subject whose body is being rewritten by something she cannot simply overpower.

The contrast with Jason and The Knight also helps the collection avoid feeling visually repetitive. Jason provides the iconic licensed slasher, The Knight brings medieval armor and a supernatural entourage, while The Houndmaster contributes a seafaring silhouette and animal companion. All three receive the same basic infection, but the bodies and themes being corrupted are substantially different.

Hallowed Blight has been mutating Dead by Daylight for years

The collection is inseparable from one of Dead by Daylight’s oldest pieces of Halloween lore. The wider Hallowed Blight storyline began in 2018 and eventually became tied directly to Talbot Grimes, the obsessive chemist who would later become The Blight. Behaviour continued that arc through The Archives and concluded its original story phase with The Eternal Blight in 2020, where Pustula Flowers returned across the Entity’s Realm and players could explore more of Talbot’s descent through new lore entries.

Grimes was already willing to use human beings as experimental material long before entering the Fog. His official biography describes increasingly unethical chemical work, including compounds tested on prisoners and research into substances intended to push the human body beyond ordinary limits. Inside the Entity’s Realm, that obsession eventually converged with the mysterious flowers and serum that define Hallowed Blight, until the scientist himself became one of the horrors he had been studying.

Behaviour has since turned the concept into an annual cosmetic tradition. The original storyline may have reached its conclusion, but the idea remains flexible enough to infect almost anyone who enters the Fog. The Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Doctor, Huntress, Nurse, Hag, Spirit, Clown, Plague, Ghost Face, Legion and numerous later additions have all received variations over the years, gradually transforming Hallowed Blight into something resembling Dead by Daylight’s own internal Halloween monster catalogue.

Licensed Killers make the experiment increasingly strange

Jason’s inclusion is notable because Behaviour has become progressively more willing to apply its original Blight mythology to licensed horror icons. Earlier additions already demonstrated how effective the concept can be when external franchises are allowed to collide with Dead by Daylight’s own worldbuilding. Wesker mixed the serum with Uroboros, The Xenomorph developed golden growths across its alien anatomy, Chucky’s artificial body produced additional malformed limbs and the Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration eventually gave Springtrap a version in which the infection spread through both machinery and decaying flesh.

Jason extends that idea to arguably the most recognizable slasher to join the roster in years. His Dead by Daylight Chapter launched on June 16, 2026 and positioned him as The Slasher, emphasizing the supernatural persistence, stealth and improvisational brutality associated with Friday the 13th. His base Power already allows him to move with near-supernatural stealth, teleport across the map and use improvised projectiles before closing for a Jump Scare attack. The Blighted Outfit does not alter those mechanics, but visually it asks what happens when a body famous for surviving almost anything is exposed to one of the Entity’s most aggressive mutagens.

That is precisely the type of crossover interpretation that gives Dead by Daylight’s cosmetics more personality than simply recreating another movie costume. Backwoods Terror, Death Forsaken and Depths of Despair already explore alternative Jason imagery, but Blighted Slasher allows Behaviour to place him inside mythology that belongs specifically to Dead by Daylight.

Three Very Rare Outfits arrive before Haunted by Daylight

The 2026 additions were released on October 1, with Blighted Slasher and Blighted Knight listed at 1,080 Auric Cells as complete Very Rare Outfits. Their individual head, body and weapon pieces are also listed separately at 400 Auric Cells where applicable. The three-character release arrives ahead of Haunted by Daylight itself, meaning Behaviour is using Hallowed Blight to open the Halloween schedule rather than waiting until the main event is underway.

That fits the wider October of Horror programme Behaviour has prepared for 2026. The month also includes the Academia Rift, Haunted by Daylight, the Diablo Collection, November Days cosmetics and another expansion of Stranger Things content, turning Hallowed Blight into the first major release in a much larger seasonal slate rather than the only attraction. The collection nevertheless remains uniquely connected to Dead by Daylight itself because its visual language and underlying story originate inside the Fog rather than from another horror licence.

The serum still gives Dead by Daylight its most recognizable Halloween look

Nearly a decade into Dead by Daylight’s life, Hallowed Blight continues to work because Behaviour does not need to reinvent the premise every year. The orange serum, swollen pustules, exposed anatomy and unnatural growths provide a consistent visual language, while each new Killer gives the artists a different biological or thematic problem to solve. In 2026 that means finding something beneath Jason’s mask worth corrupting, physically binding The Knight more closely to the companions who define his Power and dragging The Houndmaster into a mutation that even a lifetime of brutality cannot prepare her for.

The collection therefore occupies an unusual position inside an increasingly licence-heavy Halloween calendar. Diablo, Stranger Things and the other October collaborations can bring recognizable external worlds into Dead by Daylight, but Hallowed Blight remains the place where Behaviour gets to take those characters — original or licensed — and subject them to something that belongs entirely to its own mythology.

Jason spent decades surviving almost everything horror could throw at him.

The Blight finally found something new to do to the body underneath the mask.
