Silent Hill f’s Hinako Shimizu Enters Dead by Daylight Through Cheryl Mason’s New Legendary Outfit

Dead by Daylight’s Silent Hill Collection has expanded with a new Legendary Outfit for Cheryl Mason, transforming the Survivor into Shimizu Hinako from KONAMI’s psychological horror game SILENT HILL f.
The cosmetic is now available in the in-game store, bringing one of Silent Hill’s newest protagonists into The Fog without adding a separate Survivor to the roster. As with Cheryl’s earlier Legendary Outfits based on characters such as Lisa Garland, Cybil Bennett, James Sunderland and Maria, the Hinako set gives players a complete character transformation while retaining Cheryl’s gameplay Perks and progression.
The release extends Dead by Daylight’s long-running Silent Hill collaboration at a point when Behaviour Interactive is continuing to revisit some of horror gaming’s most recognisable worlds through outfits, Chapters and limited-time content.
Hinako Shimizu brings Silent Hill f’s nightmare into The Fog
Hinako Shimizu is the protagonist of SILENT HILL f, a psychological horror entry set in 1960s Japan. Her story follows a young woman caught in a nightmare as her hometown becomes consumed by unnatural fog, grotesque transformations and a reality that grows increasingly difficult to understand.
That visual identity is reflected in the new Dead by Daylight outfit. The Legendary set reimagines Cheryl Mason as Hinako, with cosmetics inspired by the character’s appearance and survival-horror setting rather than simply offering a themed variation of Cheryl’s existing design.
The crossover is particularly fitting for Dead by Daylight because Silent Hill has always been built around themes that align closely with The Fog: trauma, guilt, distorted memory and environments that turn personal fear into something physical.
Hinako’s arrival does not introduce a new Killer, map or gameplay system. It is a cosmetic release, but it carries more weight than a standard Outfit because Legendary cosmetics replace the character model, animations and voice presentation associated with the base Survivor.
Cheryl Mason remains the gateway for Silent Hill’s Survivor icons
Cheryl Mason has become Dead by Daylight’s central Silent Hill Survivor for more than one reason.
Since joining the game with the original Silent Hill Chapter in 2020, Cheryl has received several Legendary Outfits that let players take on the appearance of other major Silent Hill characters. These have included Lisa Garland, Cybil Bennett, James Sunderland and Maria.
Hinako continues that model by using Cheryl as the playable base while giving Silent Hill f a place within the collection.
This approach allows Behaviour Interactive and KONAMI to expand the crossover without fragmenting the Survivor roster into several mechanically identical characters. Players can access the visual fantasy of a different Silent Hill protagonist, while Cheryl’s Perks remain the gameplay foundation.
For long-term Silent Hill fans, that makes the collection feel closer to a growing crossover archive than a one-off DLC. Each Legendary Outfit adds another recognisable figure to the Entity’s Realm and broadens the range of Silent Hill stories represented inside Dead by Daylight.
A cosmetic crossover with no gameplay advantage
The Hinako Shimizu Outfit does not change Cheryl Mason’s abilities, Perks or in-match power level.
That distinction is important for players deciding whether to pick it up. The release is entirely focused on presentation: the character model, visual identity and the chance to play as Silent Hill f’s protagonist in Dead by Daylight’s asymmetrical Trials.
Cheryl remains a Survivor built around information, team support and recovery tools. Her unique Perks are Soul Guard, Blood Pact and Repressed Alliance, and they function the same regardless of which Outfit players equip.
The Legendary skin is therefore best understood as a collector-focused release. It gives Silent Hill f fans a way to bring Hinako into the game’s Trials, but it does not lock any gameplay content, competitive advantage or new progression behind the purchase.
Silent Hill remains one of Dead by Daylight’s defining horror collaborations
The Silent Hill Chapter was one of Dead by Daylight’s most significant licensed expansions when it launched, adding The Executioner, better known as Pyramid Head, Cheryl Mason and the Midwich Elementary School map.
Since then, Behaviour Interactive has continued to revisit the licence through cosmetics rather than treating the collaboration as closed. The Hinako release shows that the partnership still has room to grow, particularly as KONAMI expands Silent Hill with newer projects and protagonists.
This is also a more targeted crossover than a full Chapter. Dead by Daylight is not attempting to recreate SILENT HILL f inside The Fog. Instead, it is bringing the game’s central character into an existing collection format that has already worked well for Silent Hill fans.
For players who enjoy collecting Legendary Survivor cosmetics, Hinako is a meaningful addition. For Silent Hill f players, it is another chance to see one of the series’ newer faces placed in a very different kind of nightmare.
Hinako’s fight continues beyond Ebisugaoka
The new Legendary Outfit gives Hinako a different kind of survival challenge.
In SILENT HILL f, she faces a world warped by psychological horror and disturbing transformation. In Dead by Daylight, she is pulled into the Entity’s Realm, where every Trial is another fight to repair generators, evade the Killer and escape a place where death is never final.
It is not a new Chapter, and players should not expect new mechanics tied specifically to Hinako. But as a Silent Hill Collection release, the costume does exactly what it needs to do: it brings another major horror figure into The Fog while preserving the identity of both franchises.
