The trailer wastes no time trying to build mystery:
The mask is on.
The machete is dripping.
The massacre has begun.
Set for release on June 16, 2026, Behaviour Interactive is finally bringing in one of the most recognizable icons of modern cinematic horror. For many players, it feels less like the arrival of a new Killer and more like the resolution of a historic absence.
Because talking about multiplayer horror without mentioning Jason always felt strange.
The character born in the Friday the 13th franchise has been associated for decades with relentless pursuit, silent brutality, and kills that have become symbols of slasher cinema. His hockey mask and machete are probably just as recognizable as any classic monster in the genre.
That is why his inclusion in Dead by Daylight carried a certain air of inevitability.
The interesting part now will be discovering how Behaviour adapts Jason into the gameplay.
Each major Killer usually arrives alongside specific mechanics that attempt to translate their personality into combat. In this case, the big question is whether Jason will be built around constant pressure, slow but unstoppable pursuit, or tools centered on direct punishment.
The trailer avoids revealing too much, betting instead on atmosphere: a heavy presence, violence, and the feeling that escaping is futile.
And that fits the character's identity perfectly.
His arrival also reinforces something Dead by Daylight has been doing better than almost any other horror game for years: becoming a sort of interactive museum for the genre, gathering historical figures from different franchises.
The community had spent a long time placing Jason among their most desired collaborations, alongside other classic names that eventually made their way in over time.
Now, it remains to be seen if the gameplay results will live up to the symbolic weight.
Because bringing in Jason isn't simply adding another Killer. It means introducing one of those responsible for defining how we have understood slasher horror for generations.
And starting June 16, the Fog will have a new problem: this time, the monster doesn't run for pleasure, or for vengeance… he simply never stops advancing.
