Vegeta does not need to stand directly in front of an opponent to make his presence felt. Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta has joined DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA during Season 7, bringing a new version of the Saiyan Prince built around sustained long-range pressure and the kind of explosive ki attacks expected from his Super Saiyan Blue form.
Bandai Namco describes the newcomer as “a divine Super Saiyan who can unleash a cascade of attacks from long-range,” and the new Season 7 promo makes that philosophy immediately clear. Rather than simply turning another Vegeta into a close-range bruiser, this version attacks from distance, pours energy into contested areas and gives teams another way to pressure enemies without committing directly into the middle of every engagement.
His arrival also extends what is already an unusually important season for the free-to-play 4v4 Dragon Ball battler. Season 7 began on September 9 alongside the game’s first anniversary, originally headlined by Super Gogeta from Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. Less than three weeks later, Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta adds another major fan-favorite form while Bandai Namco and Ganbarion prepare a much larger overhaul that will fundamentally change Gekishin Squadra after the anniversary period.
Blue Vegeta Is Built Around Keeping the Pressure On
The most important phrase in Bandai Namco’s description is not “Super Saiyan God SS.” It is “from long-range.” Gekishin Squadra is a team game where positioning is inseparable from damage output, so the ability to threaten an opponent without entering their preferred engagement distance can affect far more than an individual duel.
A long-range Hero can force movement before a fight properly begins, help teammates contest an objective, punish opponents attempting to disengage and create pressure on enemies already occupied with another member of the squad. That is particularly valuable in a 4v4 structure because every opponent looking toward Vegeta is one opponent whose attention is no longer completely focused on the rest of the team.
The promotional footage emphasizes repeated ki attacks rather than presenting Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta as a character dependent on one enormous projectile. That “cascade” language suggests his identity is about maintaining offensive pressure over distance, forcing enemies to react repeatedly rather than waiting exclusively for one decisive shot.
Final Flash Is Exactly the Kind of Spectacle Players Expected
Vegeta’s most recognizable ranged techniques naturally fit that concept. Early footage distributed through Bandai Namco’s Squadra Creators Program has shown Final Flash among the new character’s Finisher material, alongside additional character-specific presentation such as unique intros, MVP animations and victory poses.
Final Flash is an obvious match for Gekishin Squadra because the game already treats finishers as part mechanical reward and part Dragon Ball spectacle. Landing one is not supposed to look like another ordinary attack. It is a moment where the game briefly allows the character’s anime identity to dominate the screen.
For Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta, that distinction matters. There are already several versions of Vegeta represented across the roster, so visual fidelity alone is not enough to justify another slot. The new Hero needs to feel different in the way he applies pressure, how opponents are forced to respond and how his biggest attacks punctuate the fight.
Gekishin Squadra Already Has Several Different Vegetas
This is far from the first Saiyan Prince in the game. Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta and Super Saiyan God Vegeta are already part of Gekishin Squadra’s expanding roster, each representing a different period and combat identity.
That creates the same challenge faced by every long-running Dragon Ball game: Goku and Vegeta have so many transformations that simply increasing their hair power level can produce a roster full of characters who look different but play too similarly.
Gekishin Squadra’s role-based structure gives Ganbarion an opportunity to avoid that problem. A transformation can be designed around a completely different tactical function even when the underlying character is familiar. Bandai Namco’s deliberate emphasis on Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta’s ranged attacks therefore matters more than another statistical power increase ever could.
The result is less “another Vegeta” and more another interpretation of how Vegeta can function inside a four-player composition.
Super Saiyan Blue Represents Vegeta at His Most Controlled
That ranged identity also suits this stage of Vegeta’s development particularly well. Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan—more commonly referred to as Super Saiyan Blue—combines the power of Super Saiyan with god ki, appearing after Vegeta’s progression into divine transformations during the Dragon Ball Super era.
Where many earlier Vegeta forms are associated with explosive anger or brute-force escalation, Blue increasingly represents a more disciplined version of his combat philosophy. He still overwhelms opponents with enormous power, but the form belongs to a period where Vegeta’s technique, training and control become just as important as raw aggression.
A gameplay design built around measured distance and sustained ki pressure therefore has a thematic logic behind it. This Vegeta does not have to recklessly chase every opponent. He can make the opponent come through his attacks first.
Season 7 Began With a Completely Different Kind of Fighter
The contrast with Super Gogeta, Season 7’s launch Hero, is especially useful. Gogeta arrived on September 9 as a Technical-role fighter built around close-range disruption, sticking near enemies, restricting their movement and creating openings for allies before using Soul Punisher as his signature Super Attack.
Bandai Namco subsequently adjusted him in the Season 7.1 patch, speeding up portions of Soul Strike, reducing Spirit Flare’s cooldown and increasing Soul Punisher’s effective range while making several other balance changes. Those revisions arrived only one week after the character’s debut, illustrating how actively Ganbarion is prepared to tune a newly released Hero once live match data begins exposing weaknesses.
Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta enters a very different environment. Where Gogeta wants to impose himself directly on nearby opponents, the new Vegeta is being sold on his ability to attack from farther away. The two anniversary-era additions therefore expand the roster in opposite tactical directions rather than competing for exactly the same job.
Season 7 Has Already Rebalanced Much of the Existing Roster
The September 9 season patch did considerably more than add Gogeta. Android 18, Super Saiyan 3 Goku, Super Vegito and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta received buffs, while Super Saiyan Trunks (Teen), Full Power Bojack, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Super Saiyan 2 Caulifla, Bulma (Youth) and Majin Buu (Pure) were among the Heroes nerfed.
Super Saiyan God Son Goku also received a substantial adjustment to Red Fury and God Shoot, while several Helpers and Divine Combo Cards were changed. The patch modified the GEKISHIN Rules boss rotation, updated Hero Unlock content in the Star Collection and redesigned both the Lobby and Shop interfaces.
This matters for the new Vegeta because a Hero never enters an empty meta. His practical value will depend on how his range, cooldowns and survivability interact with characters that have already been adjusted for the anniversary season.
The promo establishes the intended fantasy. The next few weeks of actual matches will establish whether that fantasy becomes a major strategic presence.
Season 7 Is Also Gekishin Squadra’s First Anniversary
The timing gives Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta more visibility than a normal mid-season Hero. Gekishin Squadra launched worldwide on September 9, 2025, making Season 7 the game’s first-anniversary season.
Bandai Namco has built the celebration around several reward campaigns. Anniversary login bonuses are divided into two periods, while the 5 Pulls a Day! Free G-Capsules promotion allows players to claim up to 70 free pulls in each half of the campaign for a possible total of 140.
Anniversary cosmetics include formal outfits and battle-damaged “Reborn” skins, while Super Gogeta received his own anniversary G-Capsule content and special Finisher presentation. Combo Stamps even allow Goku and Vegeta players to synchronize their Fusion poses, producing a Super Gogeta animation when the timing matches correctly.
Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta therefore arrives while the entire game is temporarily leaning harder than usual into spectacle, collection and character-specific presentation.
Season 7 Twitch Drops Are Still Running
Players can also continue collecting rewards through the official SQUADRA Season 7 Twitch Drops campaign, which runs through October 7 in Pacific Time.
Watching qualifying Gekishin Squadra streams for 30 minutes awards five P7G-Capsules, with an exclusive icon at one hour, 7,000 Zeni at two hours, another ten P7G-Capsules at three hours and an exclusive skin after six hours.
Those P7G-Capsules are specifically tied to Season 7’s reward ecosystem, making them particularly relevant while new anniversary content continues entering the game.
Bandai Namco has also launched a social campaign around the new Vegeta: the official English account promised five P7G-Capsules for everyone if the reveal post reaches a combined 5,000 likes and reposts before October 4 at 7:59 AM PT.
This Could Be One of the Last Heroes Designed Entirely Around the Current Rules
The most interesting context surrounding Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta may actually have nothing to do with the character himself. Gekishin Squadra is preparing for a major overhaul after Season 7, with Bandai Namco and Ganbarion already explaining some of the changes planned for the next phase of the game.
The current three-role structure—Damage, Tank and Technical—is being replaced by two broader combat categories centered on close-range and long-range play. Every Hero will eventually use two regular skills and one Super Attack, while Rush Attacks, passives and transformations are also being comprehensively revised.
That makes Bandai Namco’s emphasis on Vegeta as a long-range specialist particularly interesting. The developer has not yet confirmed exactly how this specific Hero will be classified after the overhaul, and some Heroes will not initially be playable during Season 8, so his future implementation should not be assumed. But the design language being used to introduce him already resembles the terminology Ganbarion has chosen for the game’s next combat model.
Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta arrives during the old system while pointing toward the language of the new one.
The Overhaul Will Change More Than Character Roles
Ganbarion’s plans go substantially further than reorganizing a few icons in character select. The studio says the new rules will focus matches on collecting Dragon Balls as the central objective, while maps will become smaller and specifically redesigned around the revised gameplay.
The camera perspective and aiming system are changing, Hero skills are being reworked, Ranked participation will receive new requirements and CPU Battles will contribute to a redesigned Battle Pass progression system. Transforming Heroes will fill dedicated gauges during matches, with different characters using different methods to accelerate their transformations.
Ganbarion has repeatedly described the objective as making Gekishin Squadra easier to approach without eliminating the strategy and mechanical depth expected from experienced players. New Heroes are still planned at a rate of roughly three per season after the overhaul.
Season 7 consequently feels like both a celebration and an ending: the first anniversary of the game players have been playing since 2025, and the final stretch before its basic structure begins changing.
Long-Range Heroes Will Become an Explicit Part of the New Philosophy
One of the developer’s recent Q&A answers provides particularly useful context for Vegeta’s current design. Under the overhaul, long-range Heroes will deal greater damage with their long-range Rush Attacks and suffer less spread when repeatedly using them, while their skills will generally favor mid- and long-distance offense or creating separation from opponents.
They will still possess close-range attacks, but Ganbarion says they will generally be less effective when pressured directly, both in damage output and durability. Close-range Heroes will naturally occupy the opposite side of that relationship.
That is essentially the classic ranged-character tradeoff: control space until an opponent successfully gets through it.
Bandai Namco has not confirmed that Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta will occupy that exact post-overhaul category, but his current promotional description—repeated long-distance offense from a “divine Super Saiyan”—makes the comparison difficult to ignore.
Vegeta Gives Season 7 Another Major Dragon Ball Super Representative
Gekishin Squadra has steadily moved through almost every major Dragon Ball era rather than restricting itself to one television series. Its roster includes original Dragon Ball characters, Z-era fighters, GT transformations, movie characters and multiple representatives from Dragon Ball Super.
Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta reinforces the Super side of that lineup at an appropriate moment. Beerus, Super Saiyan God Goku, Super Saiyan God Vegeta, Goku Black, Zamasu, Jiren and other characters have already established divine ki, gods and Tournament of Power-era combat as major parts of the game’s roster.
Blue Vegeta fills one of the most obvious remaining gaps. For a Dragon Ball multiplayer title built around recognizable team combinations, his absence would only become more noticeable as the roster continued expanding.
Now players can build around another of Vegeta’s defining modern forms rather than approximating it with Super Saiyan God or GT’s Super Saiyan 4.
The Saiyan Prince Has Arrived at an Important Moment
Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta is available now as part of Gekishin Squadra Season 7, adding a ranged offensive presence to a season already headlined by Super Gogeta and the game’s first-anniversary celebration.
The character arrives with exactly the kind of identity another Vegeta needed. He is not being sold merely on stronger blue hair or another set of cosmetic animations. Bandai Namco’s pitch is tactical: stay at range, maintain a barrage and force opponents to deal with Vegeta’s offense before they can comfortably execute their own.
That should make him particularly interesting in coordinated squads, where pressure from distance becomes much more dangerous when another Hero is already demanding attention at close range.
Season 7 is already one of the most consequential periods in Gekishin Squadra’s short history. The anniversary is underway, balance changes are moving quickly and an overhaul is waiting on the other side of the season.
For now, however, Vegeta has a simpler problem to solve.
The enemy is over there.
And Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta finally has enough range to make that their problem.
