Super Saiyan God SS Son Goku is not being designed around waiting for the perfect Kamehameha. He wants to get into a fight and make sure it never properly resets. DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA's new Character Spotlight gives a much clearer look at Season 7's third Hero, presenting Goku Blue as a close-range Damage fighter whose entire kit revolves around maintaining a growing Combo, chasing opponents before that counter disappears and eventually cashing the sequence out through the devastating No Hard Feelings Strike.
The concept is substantially more interesting than simply giving another Goku stronger versions of familiar techniques. Super Saiyan God SS Son Goku joins a roster already containing several interpretations of the character, so Bandai Namco and Ganbarion need each version to solve combat differently. Blue's answer is sustained pressure. Skills help him stay attached to an opponent, repeated hits feed Perfected Fist, and the maximum Combo state gives him both additional survivability and access to the attack his entire gameplay loop has been building toward.
Perfected Fist turns every successful hit into progress toward the real threat
Goku Blue's defining passive is Perfected Fist. Powered-up Rush Attacks and Skills increase his Combo count whenever they connect, but the meter is temporary: spend too long without hitting an enemy and it resets to zero. Reaching the maximum Combo grants Goku additional HP and unlocks No Hard Feelings Strike, transforming sustained aggression into both survivability and a powerful offensive payoff.
That condition immediately separates him from burst-oriented Damage Heroes. A character built around cooldown dumping can engage, spend everything and retreat until the next opportunity. Goku Blue is encouraged to remain involved because disengaging for too long destroys accumulated value. The player is constantly balancing aggression against overextension, trying to preserve the Combo without chasing an enemy so recklessly that the rest of the opposing team can punish him.
No Hard Feelings is the reward for refusing to let the fight reset
The Character Spotlight places particular emphasis on No Hard Feelings Strike, and appropriately so. It is not merely another skill sitting permanently on the ability bar; it is the reward state that Perfected Fist unlocks after Goku has successfully maintained his offensive sequence. Bandai Namco describes it as a massive-damage attack capable of sending enemy Heroes flying, which makes the maximum Combo state something opponents should actively try to deny rather than simply tolerate.
That creates clear counterplay. Escaping Goku for long enough to reset his Combo does more than avoid immediate damage — it removes access to his strongest reward and forces him to rebuild the entire sequence. Conversely, Goku players need to recognise when continuing the chase is realistic. Perfected Fist encourages aggression, but the strongest use of the mechanic will come from players who can distinguish between maintaining pressure and feeding themselves into an unfavourable 1v3 simply because the counter is about to disappear.
Dragon Claw Flurry is built specifically to keep the Combo alive
Dragon Claw Flurry is one of the most obvious tools for feeding Perfected Fist. The multi-hit attack sends Goku forward through a sustained series of blows, rapidly producing the repeated connections his passive wants while keeping him physically close to the target. The official introduction specifically calls out the Skill as an efficient way to increase the Combo count, making it less of an isolated damage button and more of a fundamental part of his resource engine.
Its value should increase whenever an opponent is already struggling to disengage. A single heavy attack may produce more immediate burst, but a multi-hit sequence gives Goku repeated opportunities to preserve momentum and advance toward maximum Combo. That relationship between move design and passive design is what makes the new Hero coherent: the game is not asking players to build a meter using actions unrelated to how Goku naturally wants to fight.
His kit keeps solving the same problem: stop the target from getting away
The rest of Goku Blue's abilities continue supporting that close-range identity. His ranged energy attack gives him a way to maintain pressure when direct punches are temporarily unavailable, while Blue Spirit Surge creates a damaging area around Goku that expands whenever enemies touch it. Once the field expires it explodes, dealing additional damage and reducing enemy movement speed, and Goku remains free to perform other actions while the field is active.
Movement reduction is particularly valuable on a Hero whose passive disappears if an enemy creates enough separation. Blue Spirit Surge therefore does more than add area damage: it makes the battlefield easier for Goku to control while he continues using Rush Attacks and other Skills. The expanding field also makes clustered objective fights attractive, because Goku can pressure one Hero directly while the surrounding zone continues interfering with everyone else nearby.
Rush Attacks become part of the Skill rotation instead of filler between cooldowns
Goku's standard offensive sequence also appears designed to make Rush Attacks matter more once his Skills start connecting. The character spotlight shows a fighter whose movement and normal pressure accelerate as he gets established in combat, reinforcing the idea that Skills should flow into Rush Attacks rather than replace them entirely.
That is a useful distinction in GEKISHIN SQUADRA because Heroes level up during the match and gradually develop stronger versions of their abilities, but the underlying 4v4 combat still depends on movement, basic pressure and understanding when to commit. A Combo character becomes much less interesting if maintaining the counter simply means pressing three cooldowns in sequence. Goku Blue instead appears intended to weave his complete offensive kit together, turning successful Skills into better opportunities to continue punching while waiting for those Skills to return.
God Speed Kamehameha gives his aggression a way to sustain itself
The individual Super Attack, God Speed Kamehameha, gives Goku something his relentless playstyle badly needs: additional survivability. He fires an energy wave in a chosen direction and follows it with an additional explosion, while still being able to adjust his movement and aim during preparation. Hitting enemies grants bonus HP, and the amount increases when multiple targets are caught.
That healing effect fits the rest of the kit better than a simple higher-damage beam would have. Goku is encouraged to stay in dangerous positions for longer periods because Perfected Fist punishes disengagement, so a Super capable of converting a successful multi-target hit into more HP helps extend the same aggressive cycle. Used around an objective where several enemy Heroes are grouped together, God Speed Kamehameha can therefore function as both a major offensive tool and the resource that lets Goku remain in the fight afterward.
Goku Blue and Vegeta Blue introduce Squadra’s first Merged Super Attack
The most important team mechanic arrives when Super Saiyan God SS Son Goku and Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta are selected together. If both Heroes have their Super Attacks available, they can activate Kamehameha & Galick Gun, which Bandai Namco describes as the first Merged Super Attack implemented in GEKISHIN SQUADRA.
The activation itself requires cooperation. One player begins preparing the Super, the second interacts nearby, and once the initiating player fires, the partner warps into position so both attacks can be released together. The merged version combines the properties of Goku's God Speed Kamehameha and Vegeta's Galick Gun while extending the range and increasing the affected area, giving the pair a genuine mechanical reason to be drafted together rather than merely producing a thematic animation.
The first Merged Super is exactly the sort of mechanic a 4v4 Dragon Ball game should have
Team Attacks arguably fit GEKISHIN SQUADRA better than almost any other Dragon Ball game. Its central identity is not simply controlling one famous fighter; it is constructing a four-Hero team around Damage, Tank and Technical roles, developing those characters during the match and coordinating around bosses, objectives and the opposing squad. A move that physically requires two different players to have resources available at the same moment takes advantage of that structure in a way a traditional one-versus-one fighter cannot.
It also introduces an interesting tactical cost. Goku and Vegeta can each spend their Super independently, or they can preserve both resources long enough to create the stronger combined attack. That means the cinematic reward sits on top of an actual coordination problem. Two players need to recognise the same opportunity, remain close enough to initiate it and resist spending their Supers separately before that moment arrives.
Goku and Vegeta Blue share a role without sharing a playstyle
Season 7's two Blue Saiyans are both Damage Heroes, but the new spotlight reinforces how differently they approach that role. Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta was introduced as a ranged fighter whose three Skills are Ki attacks. His Indomitable Stance passive improves his resistance to frontal damage when activating Skills, encouraging him to keep opponents ahead and maintain pressure from distance.
Goku Blue does almost the opposite. His design rewards closing the gap, producing repeated contacts and preventing enemies from resetting the engagement. That difference should make their combined Super less gimmicky than it might initially appear, because the characters can complement one another during ordinary play as well: Vegeta can establish ranged pressure while Goku becomes the fighter who capitalises once an opponent is forced into a closer engagement.
Season 7 has deliberately avoided making its three anniversary Heroes interchangeable
The same distinction applies to Super Gogeta, who opened Season 7 as a Technical Hero. Gogeta specialises in controlling close-range encounters, using dodges and counter-oriented mechanics to disrupt opponents and create opportunities for allies. Vegeta Blue then added long-range Damage pressure, while Goku Blue completes the current trio with a sustained melee-oriented Damage style.
That spread is important for a game whose roster naturally includes multiple Saiyans with overlapping visual language and famous beam attacks. If every new transformation simply produced another aggressive Damage Hero with slightly larger numbers, new releases would quickly become cosmetic substitutions. Season 7 instead uses role, range and resource mechanics to distinguish characters who are canonically related and often share attacks.
This is the Super Saiyan Blue form from the Golden Frieza battle
Bandai Namco identifies this version specifically with the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan transformation first revealed during Goku's battle against Golden Frieza in Dragon Ball Super. The form represents the combination of Super Saiyan power with divine ki and eventually became one of Goku's defining transformations throughout the series.
That context also explains why the new Hero is being presented separately from Super Saiyan God Son Goku, who joined GEKISHIN SQUADRA earlier in 2026. The God version is another Damage Hero but focuses on long-range pressure and building Red Fury. Blue instead brings the combat closer, translating the more aggressive style associated with the later transformation into a Combo mechanic rather than simply increasing the numbers on the existing God Goku.
The Anniversary Vol. 3 G-Capsule gives him his premium presentation
The Character Spotlight arrives alongside the Anniversary Vol. 3 content built around Goku Blue. The limited G-Capsule includes the Legendary All-Out Attack Finisher Effect, which comes paired with the "Enlightenment" Turtle School Gi (Fierce) skin. Obtaining duplicates of the effect also contributes toward an Infinite Skin variant, continuing GEKISHIN SQUADRA's anniversary focus on elaborate character-specific cosmetic rewards.
It gives Season 7 a clear three-stage character rollout. Super Gogeta arrived with the anniversary launch in September, Vegeta Blue followed at the end of the month, and Goku Blue now completes the trio in mid-October. The season has effectively used the entire anniversary period to expand the top end of the Dragon Ball roster while still giving each new Hero enough separation to establish an identity.
The Spotlight makes Goku Blue easier to understand than the original promo did
The earlier promotional video established the fantasy: Goku Blue is fast, aggressive and built around keeping enemies under pressure. The Character Spotlight explains why that fantasy works mechanically. Perfected Fist is the centre of everything. Dragon Claw Flurry helps build Combo quickly, area control and mobility make it harder for targets to escape, maximum Combo unlocks No Hard Feelings Strike and God Speed Kamehameha can restore HP so Goku survives long enough to keep fighting.
That creates a Hero with an unusually clear failure condition as well. If Goku cannot connect, his pressure engine collapses. Opponents who disengage successfully remove accumulated Combo progress, while Goku players who overcommit simply to preserve the meter can be punished by coordinated teams. His theoretical strength therefore comes from controlling the tempo of a skirmish rather than possessing permanent access to his strongest attack.
Goku Blue is strongest when the opponent never gets their turn back
Super Saiyan God SS Son Goku is available now in DRAGON BALL GEKISHIN SQUADRA as Season 7's third new Hero and a Damage-role fighter. His passive Perfected Fist rewards continuous attacks by building Combo, reaching maximum grants additional HP and unlocks No Hard Feelings Strike, and Dragon Claw Flurry provides a direct route toward building that meter through repeated hits. His wider kit supplements the pressure with ranged damage, area control and God Speed Kamehameha's HP gain.
Pairing him with Super Saiyan God SS Vegeta adds the season's most significant team mechanic: the first Merged Super Attack, Kamehameha & Galick Gun. It is a fitting addition for a Hero whose entire design is based around momentum. On his own, Goku Blue wants one successful hit to lead immediately into another. With Vegeta beside him, even the Super Attack becomes something that should never have been fired alone.
