Super Gogeta is joining the playable roster of Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra as the headline character of Season 7. Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a dedicated promotional video for the legendary fusion warrior ahead of the season’s launch on September 9, 2026.

The new season coincides with the first anniversary of Gekishin Squadra, which originally launched on September 9, 2025. Super Gogeta will consequently arrive as part of a much larger celebration containing new content, limited-time campaigns and the beginning of a transition towards a major overhaul planned for the end of 2026.

Bandai Namco’s written description presents Super Gogeta as an accomplished close-range combatant who uses carefully timed abilities to obstruct opponents and create openings for additional attacks. His introduction is intended to capture the speed and overwhelming power traditionally associated with the character while adapting those qualities to the game’s team-oriented battles.

The Ultimate Fusion Warrior Enters the Arena

Super Gogeta is the result of Goku and Vegeta successfully performing the Fusion Dance, combining their abilities and personalities into a single exceptionally powerful warrior. The version selected for Season 7 is closely associated with the Dragon Ball Z movie Fusion Reborn, in which Gogeta appears during the decisive confrontation against Janemba.

Although his appearance in that movie is relatively brief, Super Gogeta became one of the most recognisable characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. His confident personality, efficient fighting style and visually distinctive finishing techniques have made him a recurring presence across Dragon Ball games.

His addition gives Gekishin Squadra another fusion character capable of generating immediate interest among both active players and fans who may not have tried the free-to-play title. It also provides an appropriate centrepiece for an anniversary season built around celebrating the game’s first year.

According to the official character description, Super Gogeta is designed to overwhelm opponents at close range. Rather than functioning only as a straightforward damage dealer, he can interfere with enemy actions and establish opportunities that either he or his allies can exploit.

His Finishers adopt the radiant visual style associated with Gogeta’s most memorable attacks. That emphasis should make eliminations feel suitably dramatic while remaining consistent with Gekishin Squadra’s focus on customisable introductions, animations and finishing sequences.

A Fighter Built for Coordinated 4v4 Battles

Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is structured around online four-versus-four team battles. Players select heroes with different abilities and tactical functions before working together to control objectives, defeat opposing characters and overcome boss enemies.

Heroes become stronger during each match, gradually unlocking more powerful abilities as the battle progresses. This creates a changing balance of power in which early-game positioning and resource acquisition can affect which team reaches its strongest attacks first.

The existing game divides heroes between Damage, Tank and Technical roles. Damage characters focus on aggressive eliminations, Tanks absorb pressure and protect important areas, while Technical heroes support teammates or disrupt opponents.

Super Gogeta’s official description emphasises obstruction, opening creation and close-range pressure. Those characteristics make coordination particularly important. An enemy interrupted or displaced by Gogeta may become vulnerable to attacks from another hero, while an aggressive approach without nearby support could leave him exposed to concentrated counterattacks.

His arrival could therefore influence more than individual character selection. Teams will have to consider which heroes can capitalise on the openings he produces and which opponents are best equipped to restrict his movement before he reaches effective combat range.

Season 7 Expands the Battlefield Beyond Gogeta

Super Gogeta is the main attraction, but he is not the only addition confirmed for Season 7. Android 19 will join the game as a new Helper for the Technical role, providing another tactical option for players building their loadouts.

San-Shinron will also enter Gekishin Squadra as a new boss. Known as Eis Shenron in the English-language version of Dragon Ball GT, the Shadow Dragon expands the selection of powerful enemies that teams can encounter during matches.

Starting with Season 7, the active boss lineup will rotate every two weeks. This system should periodically change the threats present on the battlefield and prevent teams from relying indefinitely on one fixed strategy for boss engagements.

Bosses occupy an important position in Gekishin Squadra’s competitive structure. Attacking one can provide significant benefits, but committing multiple players to the objective creates an opening elsewhere. Opponents can contest the encounter, attack distracted heroes or attempt to secure the final blow after another team has already done most of the work.

Frequent boss rotations may require players to reassess team compositions as each change introduces different attack patterns and tactical demands.

Seven Campaigns Celebrate the First Anniversary

Bandai Namco is supporting Season 7 with seven major anniversary campaigns. One of the largest is the “Open Up to 140 Capsules! Open 5 a Day! Free G-Capsules” promotion, which will run across two periods during the season.

The campaign resets daily and allows participating players to open as many as 140 free G-Capsules if they complete all the available daily opportunities. An Anniversary Celebration G-Capsule will accompany the promotion, while login rewards include the commemorative 1st Anniversary Party Hat.

Special Passes and additional progression campaigns are also planned. The GEKISHIN Rules Play Campaign begins alongside Season 7 on September 9 and adds a special SP Cell Jr. to matches.

A separate Lucky Box Battle event will encourage teams to collect Lucky Boxes together in exchange for a selection of possible rewards. Halloween-themed Skin Bundles, further Special Passes, additional campaigns and in-game tournaments are scheduled for the later portion of Season 7.

Together, these activities position the anniversary as a season-long event rather than a single-day reward distribution. However, several of the campaigns will be time-limited, so players interested in obtaining the maximum number of free Capsules and commemorative items will need to follow their individual schedules.

Season 7 Arrives Before a Fundamental Overhaul

The anniversary arrives at an unusual point in the game’s development. Bandai Namco and the Gekishin Squadra team have announced a substantial year-end overhaul that will change the title’s camera, rules, role system, customisation features and overall gameplay cycle.

The current top-down perspective is scheduled to be replaced by a closer third-person, over-the-shoulder camera. Maps and victory conditions will also be redesigned to deliver a more immediate, action-focused interpretation of Dragon Ball combat.

Developers explained that differences in strategic knowledge created a considerable gap between experienced competitors and newer players, contributing to unbalanced matches and a difficult entry barrier. The overhaul is intended to simplify several systems without completely removing the teamwork and strategic decision-making at the centre of Gekishin Squadra.

Hero abilities will be adjusted, and customisation will expand through features such as equippable MAX Super Attacks that can replace existing Super Attacks. Character acquisition and other interconnected systems are also under review.

These changes are currently planned for the end of 2026, after the first-anniversary campaign. Once the transition occurs, the present ruleset will no longer be available. The development team has stated that it is considering how previously obtained characters, cosmetics and other items will carry into the redesigned version, with additional details expected before release.

That makes Super Gogeta’s introduction especially significant. Players will first experience him within the established top-down game before his abilities are adapted to the future third-person battle system.

A Major Character for a Turning Point in Gekishin Squadra

Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is available as a free-to-play game on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam, iOS and Android. It supports cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform progression through a linked Bandai Namco ID, although purchased Dragon Gems remain tied to their original platform.

Season 7 begins on September 9 with Super Gogeta, Android 19, San-Shinron and the first wave of anniversary campaigns. While the new fusion warrior provides the season with an immediately recognisable headline, his arrival also marks the beginning of an important transitional period.

Over the coming months, Gekishin Squadra will celebrate its original form before moving towards a fundamentally different battle experience. Super Gogeta will be present on both sides of that transformation, giving players one of Dragon Ball’s most popular warriors just as the game prepares for its biggest evolution since launch.
