Five Days of Controlled Chaos Await in EVE Online’s GM Week 2026

The people usually answering support tickets and monitoring New Eden are preparing to become part of its chaos. The people usually answering support tickets and monitoring New Eden are preparing to become part of its chaos. GM Week will return to EVE Online from September 28 to October 2, bringing five days of community activities, livestreams, quizzes, spontaneous roams and carefully facilitated explosions.

EVE Online’s Game Masters normally work behind the scenes as part of the Player Experience team. Their responsibilities include answering player tickets, supporting released features, monitoring server problems and dealing with policy violations. During GM Week, however, they will leave the relative safety of their support tools and appear throughout New Eden in a much more visible—and frequently destructible—capacity.

Fenris Creations has published a preliminary streaming schedule covering the full event, but players should not treat it as a complete list. Unannounced activities and additional GM appearances are expected throughout the week, making official community channels especially important for capsuleers hoping to catch the action.

GM Week 2026 Runs from September 28 to October 2

The celebrations will begin on Monday, September 28, and continue until Friday, October 2. Scheduled broadcasts will take place on the Fenris Creations Twitch channel, with every listed time using UTC, which is also EVE server time.

The provisional livestream schedule is:

  • Monday, September 28: Whack-a-Piñata at 17:00 and OnlyCans at 22:00.
  • Tuesday, September 29: OnlyCans at 20:00.
  • Wednesday, September 30: OnlyCans at 08:00.
  • Thursday, October 1: Streamer-led GM roam at 17:00 and OnlyCans at 22:00.
  • Friday, October 2: OnlyCans at 08:00 and Whack-a-Piñata at 17:00.

The variety of broadcast times should give pilots from different regions an opportunity to participate. The early Wednesday and Friday sessions provide options for players outside the usual European evening window, while the later events are better positioned for European and North American audiences.

Fenris Creations has nevertheless described this timetable as tentative. Activities may change, and additional broadcasts could be announced as GM Week develops.

Whack-a-Piñata Offers Two Opportunities for Destruction

Whack-a-Piñata will open and close the scheduled festivities, with sessions planned for Monday and Friday at 17:00 UTC. The complete 2026 rules have not yet been released, although previous GM Week activities carrying similar concepts have placed valuable cargo inside GM-controlled ships and challenged capsuleers to destroy them.

This year’s announcement also refers to botter-confiscated assets being broken open on two occasions during the week. That wording strongly points toward the two Whack-a-Piñata sessions, but the precise relationship between the activities has not been formally explained.

Players should therefore avoid assuming that previous rules will carry over unchanged. Ship classes, locations, participation requirements and the contents of any potential loot drops remain unconfirmed. A complete event breakdown is scheduled to arrive when GM Week begins on September 28.

Whatever the final format, the two sessions are likely to attract significant attention. Any public appearance involving Game Masters, potential rewards and permission to open fire is an effective recipe for a crowded system, opportunistic hunters and the kind of unpredictable escalation EVE Online handles particularly well.

OnlyCans Appears Throughout the Weekly Schedule

OnlyCans is the most frequently listed event, with five sessions scheduled across the week. It will appear twice during European evening hours, twice during the morning UTC window and once on Tuesday at 20:00 UTC.

Fenris Creations has not yet provided a detailed explanation of the 2026 format. Consequently, its objectives, potential prizes and in-game requirements should not be treated as confirmed until the full GM Week briefing is published.

Its repeated presence nevertheless makes OnlyCans one of the central components of this year’s program. Players interested in participating will have several opportunities instead of being forced to attend a single fixed session, reducing the impact of time-zone differences.

The event name also fits GM Week’s established tradition of turning containers, hidden assets and unusual cargo into community activities. Previous editions have included orbital stashes protected by riddles, scavenger hunts built around locating hidden Game Masters and loot-bearing ships willing to defend themselves. These earlier formats provide context for what GM Week can involve, but they do not confirm the mechanics of this year’s OnlyCans sessions.

Pando Will Lead the Annual GM and ISD Roam

One of the main attractions will be the annual GM and ISD fleet, which once again sends staff and community volunteers roaming through New Eden. Pando has agreed to lead the fleet during the 2026 event, taking responsibility for guiding it toward fights, explosions and, almost inevitably, an expensive conclusion.

The currently published schedule also includes a streamer-led GM roam on Thursday, October 1, at 17:00 UTC. Fenris Creations has not yet clarified whether this broadcast represents the main annual fleet or a separate roaming activity.

Beyond scheduled fleets, additional GM roams may begin with very little warning. The announcement specifically warns that some of the more adventurous Game Masters intend to travel through New Eden spontaneously and stream their activities. Pilots relying exclusively on the published timetable could therefore miss a substantial part of the event.

That uncertainty is intentional. EVE Online is at its most distinctive when intelligence spreads through player networks, pilots scramble to respond and a seemingly manageable encounter attracts several competing groups. Surprise GM fleets create ideal conditions for that escalation.

Players Can Question the People Behind EVE Online Support

GM Week will not be limited to combat. Fenris Creations is also preparing a community Q&A focused on the Player Experience team and the Game Masters themselves.

Players can submit questions through the official EVE Online forums or the dedicated GM Week section of the game’s Discord server. The team is accepting everything from simple and humorous submissions to more difficult questions about its work.

The forum discussion already includes questions covering reimbursement policies, ticket response times, enforcement decisions, game mechanics, communication channels and the relationship between support operations and wider development decisions. The Game Masters plan to select a collection of submissions and answer them in a relaxed Q&A segment during the event.

It is important to distinguish the GM team’s responsibilities from those of EVE Online’s designers. Game Masters handle support, released features, technical or account-related problems and policy enforcement, but they are not necessarily responsible for deciding the future direction of every ship, activity or economic system. Questions aimed at their actual area of work are therefore more likely to receive meaningful answers.

More Activities Will Be Revealed When GM Week Begins

The current announcement provides the dates and initial broadcast schedule, but the complete event program is being held until September 28. Players can expect a more detailed breakdown when GM Week officially begins.

Updates, warnings and last-minute activity announcements will be shared through the dedicated section of the EVE Online Discord. This will be particularly relevant for pilots hoping to locate surprise roams or react to events that are not part of the initial timetable.

GM Week works because it temporarily removes some of the distance between the people operating EVE Online and the pilots living inside it. Support staff become fleet members, community questions receive direct attention and administrative tools give way to spaceships that can be hunted like any other target.

From Whack-a-Piñata and OnlyCans to unannounced roams led by laser-hungry Game Masters, the 2026 edition is preparing to turn New Eden into a five-day staff-versus-capsuleer playground. The first scheduled explosions begin on September 28 at 17:00 UTC.
