For Honor has opened the next chapter of its tenth year with Blood Hunt, a season built around captivity, fanaticism and a dangerous pursuit through the forests of Ashfeld. The new story trailer introduces the conflict driving Year 10 Season 3, asking a suitably ominous question: will anyone survive the hunt?

Blood Hunt launched on September 10, 2026, alongside the Keeper of Chains Hero Skin for Conqueror and a major expansion of For Honor’s competitive offering. Ranked Dominion has made its debut, while Ranked Duel has finally left beta and become a permanent part of the game’s renewed Ranked ecosystem.

However, the season’s central conflict is not simply an excuse for darker cosmetics. Blood Hunt continues the struggle surrounding Guljin’s attempt to impose her own warped version of peace upon Heathmoor. Her authority has been challenged, her symbols have been defaced and resistance has weakened her control. Her answer is not negotiation, but the deployment of one of her most devoted and terrifying servants.

Guljin Sends Her Hunter Into the Forest

Blood Hunt takes place after the damage inflicted on Guljin’s rule by the recent uprising. With her influence under threat, she dispatches the Keeper of Chains to find and capture a powerful target hiding in a desolate region of Ashfeld.

Accompanied by a company of mercenaries, the Keeper travels deeper into the forest in search of his prey. The person he has been ordered to capture is described as a mysterious combatant who rules through violence and bloodshed. When the two finally meet, their confrontation reportedly continues until daybreak, turning the hunt into a contest between two figures unwilling to submit.

Ubisoft has deliberately left the identity and wider importance of this opponent unresolved. The story material refers to a mysterious new character, but it does not confirm that the figure is a future playable Hero. For the moment, the stranger’s role is primarily narrative: an obstacle powerful enough to challenge Guljin’s most feared jailer and potentially affect the balance of power in Heathmoor.

The season therefore begins with several unanswered questions. It remains to be seen whether the Keeper can complete his mission, whether his target is another tyrant or a potential ally against Guljin, and what victory for either side would mean for the increasingly unstable factions of For Honor.

The Keeper of Chains Embodies Blood Hunt’s Central Theme

The Keeper of Chains is more than a heavily armoured appearance for Conqueror. His history establishes him as an important agent of Guljin’s regime and gives the new skin a direct connection to the season’s story.

Before becoming her hunter, he was a solitary warrior imprisoned in a dark cell. Fireflies were reportedly his only companions during his captivity. Guljin personally released him after taking control of Heathmoor, and the prisoner interpreted her intervention as proof that she could deliver the order he had always desired.

His freedom did not lead him to reject imprisonment. Instead, Guljin taught him to regard freedom itself as a sickness. He eventually became a fanatical supporter of her cause, taking command of the same dungeon that had once held him. Now acting as her hunter, jailer and emissary, he captures Guljin’s enemies and confines them until they can be thrown into her arena.

That contradiction gives the character considerably more substance than a conventional seasonal costume. The Keeper was shaped by captivity, but now preserves the very system that imprisoned him. His belief in control is so complete that he sees Guljin’s oppression as peace and his own brutality as a necessary instrument for maintaining it.

The cosmetic design reflects this background. His armour carries the rust and deterioration associated with years spent inside a damp prison, while fireflies are trapped within elements of his equipment, including his flail and the apparatus mounted on his back. Even the creatures that once brought light into his confinement have become prisoners.

Weapons created for the season continue its monstrous visual language, incorporating scales, thorns, blood and leathery wings. The result is a version of Conqueror designed to feel like the physical embodiment of Guljin’s authority rather than an unrelated fantasy costume.

Ranked Dominion Begins a New Competitive Era

Although the story trailer concentrates on the hunt through Ashfeld, the most important mechanical addition arriving with Blood Hunt may be Ranked Dominion. The introduction of a competitive version of For Honor’s flagship four-versus-four mode is accompanied by the full release of Ranked Duel, which is no longer considered a beta feature.

Ranked matches retain the fundamental rules of their standard equivalents, but several restrictions have been introduced to improve competitive integrity. The parry flash indicator is disabled, gear perks do not apply and teams must follow a single-pick rule, preventing multiple players from selecting the same Hero.

Parties are limited to two players, and grouped competitors must remain within ten divisions of one another. Players also need an account reputation of at least five before entering the system. After completing an initial Ranked match, they receive a starting placement and can begin climbing through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Grandmaster. Each rank contains five divisions.

Ranked Dominion uses a fixed competitive map pool consisting of Beachhead, Canyon, Cathedral, Citadel Gate, High Fort, Overwatch, Temple Garden and Qiang Pass. Restricting the selection should provide a more controlled environment in which teams can learn rotations, capture strategies and matchup-specific approaches.

Exclusive rewards are tied to progression. Reaching Gold grants an armour set for the Hero selected for that competitive season, while Diamond adds a unique weapon set. Different ornaments are awarded across the higher ranks, and Grandmaster is reserved for the leading players on the leaderboard. During the opening competitive season, the designated Hero is Warden.

Players must complete five Ranked matches before gaining access to the associated rewards. Those pursuing the Grandmaster prize will also need to maintain their position until the competitive season concludes, making the highest reward a test of consistency rather than a milestone that can be secured and abandoned.

Ubisoft has additionally stated that it is increasing its focus on competitive integrity through improvements to anti-cheat systems and measures targeting toxic behaviour. The success of Ranked Dominion will depend heavily on those efforts, particularly in a team-based mode where communication, matchmaking quality and player conduct can have a major effect on every match.

A Battle Pass Shaped by the Hunt

Blood Hunt’s seasonal progression follows the same grim forest and imprisonment themes as the Keeper of Chains. Its Battle Pass contains 100 tiers of rewards designed for For Honor’s roster of 39 Heroes, including weapons, outfits, effects, executions, ornaments and emotes.

Highlighted rewards include the Grim Maiden and Grim Wyvern Mood Effects, the Grim Fate and Grim Monstrosity Battle Outfits, the Jack O’Smasher Execution, the Grim Dance Ornament and the Light the Way traversal emote.

A Legacy Pass is also available, bringing back content originally associated with Year 6 Season 3 and its demonic Yokai theme. Returning items include the Demonic Disco and Demonic Prairie Battle Outfits, the Card of Absolution Execution and the Dark Spectres Signature. Older rewards have been adapted for Heroes introduced after their original release.

The season’s Battle Bundle combines the current Battle Pass with the Legacy Pass and the Yokai Slayer Meiko Hero Skin for Kensei. It also unlocks 25 tiers immediately and provides a 20 percent bonus to Battle Points and Event Pass Points earned by completing matches.

Halloween Brings Back Two Dominion Variants

Blood Hunt will move further into supernatural territory during October with the return of two Halloween events. Endless March will be available from October 1 to October 15, followed by Spooky Slasher from October 15 to October 22.

Both are modified versions of Dominion in which regular soldiers are replaced by more dangerous supernatural minions. Endless March focuses on skeleton forces and changes how captured zones contribute to a team’s score. Zones A and C provide a one-time bonus rather than generating points continuously, placing greater importance on eliminating skeletons and opposing Heroes. A team must reach at least 1,000 points and eliminate its opponents during the breaking phase to win.

Spooky Slasher introduces durable, high-damage demonic pikemen that cannot be efficiently defeated with ordinary attacks. Fighting inside a captured zone grants a temporary power boost capable of cutting through them, while defeating an empowered enemy allows another player to claim the effect. Dying while empowered removes the bonus.

Each event will feature its own leaderboard based on the number of supernatural enemies defeated, alongside opportunities to earn weapons from previous Halloween celebrations.

The seasonal schedule also includes week-long Hero Fests for Shaolin beginning October 1, Varangian Guard on October 8 and Lawbringer on October 15. Samurai Heroes are receiving additional armour variations decorated with golden engravings, layered materials and colourful patterns.

Blood Hunt Combines Story, Competition and Horror

Year 10 Season 3 arrives as a broader update than its story trailer initially suggests. The Keeper of Chains gives Blood Hunt a memorable central figure, but his journey into Ashfeld is only one part of a season that also restructures competitive play, expands Ranked rewards and prepares the game for several weeks of Halloween content.

Balance work accompanying the season includes changes to Revenge decay, revisions affecting Arakure, Valkyrie, Tiandi, Khatun, Juren, Centurion and Sohei, and a correction for Pirate’s Pistol Blast. Together with Ranked Dominion, these adjustments indicate that Ubisoft is using Blood Hunt to address both For Honor’s seasonal presentation and its long-term competitive foundations.

The identity of the Keeper’s opponent remains the most intriguing narrative mystery. Ubisoft has established the confrontation but has not yet disclosed exactly who is being hunted or whether either combatant will survive their battle. For now, Blood Hunt leaves players following Guljin’s emissary into the forest, where her promise of peace looks increasingly indistinguishable from terror.

For Honor Year 10 Season 3: Blood Hunt launched on September 10, 2026. The Keeper of Chains Hero Skin for Conqueror, Ranked Dominion, the fully released Ranked Duel system and the new seasonal progression content are available as part of the opening title update.
