Grimoires have officially opened on the Battle Bus. Black Clover has arrived in Fortnite with Asta, Noelle Silva and Yuno as playable Outfits, accompanied by character-specific weapons, grimoires, alternate forms and an unexpected Nissan GT-R NISMO collaboration covered in Black Clover liveries. The crossover went live in the Item Shop on October 3 as part of Fortnitemares 2026, joining an October lineup that already includes Five Nights at Freddy’s and A Nightmare on Elm Street and will continue expanding with several other horror, gaming and entertainment properties throughout the month.

The timing is particularly deliberate. October 3 was also the Japanese premiere date of Black Clover’s new TV anime season, with Asta, Yuno and Noelle’s voice actors participating in special broadcasts surrounding the return. Fortnite consequently becomes part of a much larger Black Clover relaunch rather than merely borrowing three characters for an unrelated Item Shop rotation.

Asta gets the most elaborate transformation in the set

Unsurprisingly, Asta is the centerpiece of Fortnite’s Black Clover collection. His individual offer is currently priced at 2,000 V-Bucks, and Epic has built the character around the contradiction that defines him in the anime: he lives in a world dominated by magic while possessing none himself, instead wielding the Anti-Magic stored within his five-leaf grimoire. The official Black Clover character profile describes him as a magicless fighter determined to become the Wizard King, relying on Anti-Magic, enormous swords and relentless physical training to compete with opponents born with extraordinary magical abilities.

Fortnite represents both sides of that identity. Asta’s Grimoire appears as a Back Bling, while the enormous Demon-Slayer Sword becomes an 800 V-Bucks Pickaxe. Epic also offers Asta’s Devil Wings as another Back Bling, giving players the option of pushing the Outfit further toward his Anti-Magic transformation rather than sticking exclusively with the standard Magic Knight presentation.

The most significant addition is built directly into the Outfit. Asta’s Devil Transformation is a built-in Emote, allowing the character to transform during a match rather than forcing players to choose one appearance permanently in the Locker before deployment. Epic describes the transformation as part of the Asta Outfit itself and does not sell the Emote separately.

That makes Asta unusually well suited to Fortnite’s transformation-based anime cosmetics. The game has increasingly used built-in Emotes to represent power-ups that would otherwise require separate Outfits, and Black Clover’s protagonist has one of the clearest visual transitions in the collaboration. Players can begin a match looking much closer to the familiar Magic Knight and shift toward his darker Anti-Magic form once the shooting starts.

Noelle can swap into her Valkyrie Dress

Noelle costs 1,800 V-Bucks and receives a similarly meaningful alternate appearance. Epic’s official Outfit listing confirms two selectable styles: her regular Noelle appearance and Noelle’s Valkyrie Dress, bringing one of her most recognizable magically armored forms into Fortnite.

The choice makes much more sense than simply offering a recolor. Noelle’s character progression in Black Clover is closely tied to learning to control the enormous magical power she struggled to handle early in the story, and Valkyrie Dress visually represents how far that development eventually takes her. Fortnite can therefore cover very different points of her evolution without needing two separate premium Outfits.

Her accessories maintain the magical theme. Noelle’s Grimoire is available for 300 V-Bucks and Noelle’s Wand costs 800, with Epic explicitly describing the latter around her water magic. The wand is cosmetic rather than an actual spellcasting weapon, but it gives the Outfit a harvesting tool that feels considerably more appropriate than simply handing Noelle a generic sword or axe.

The result also gives Noelle more representation than might have been expected from a first Fortnite wave. Anime collaborations often prioritize the protagonist and principal rival first, leaving supporting characters for later expansions. Including her immediately alongside Asta and Yuno acknowledges her status as one of Black Clover’s central characters rather than treating this crossover purely as the story of its two childhood rivals.

Yuno arrives as the calm counterpart to Asta

Yuno completes the first trio at 1,600 V-Bucks, and his more restrained cosmetic treatment fits the character surprisingly well. The official Black Clover profile describes him as Asta’s lifelong rival, a naturally gifted Wind Magic user carrying a rare four-leaf clover grimoire. Where Asta compensates for his complete absence of magic through physical power and Anti-Magic, Yuno begins as exactly the type of magical prodigy Asta is supposed to have no chance of matching.

Epic translates that identity with Yuno’s Grimoire as a 300 V-Bucks Back Bling and the Spirit of Boreas as his 500 V-Bucks Pickaxe. The latter draws directly on his wind-based combat identity, making Yuno’s harvesting tool feel more like an extension of his magical arsenal than a conventional melee weapon.

The contrast between Asta and Yuno has always been one of Black Clover’s foundations. Both were abandoned at the same church, both decided to pursue the title of Wizard King and both approach that ambition from almost opposite starting points. Asta receives no normal magic at all; Yuno possesses exceptional mana, Wind Magic and a four-leaf grimoire associated with extremely rare talent.

Fortnite naturally cannot reproduce that rivalry mechanically without making cosmetics affect combat balance, but placing both characters in the same launch wave preserves it visually. Players can now settle the Wizard King argument through shotguns, sniper rifles and Victory Royales instead.

The complete character collection costs 3,800 V-Bucks

For players who want all three, Epic currently lists the Black Clover Bundle at 3,800 V-Bucks, reduced from a combined listed value of 5,900. The collection packages the Asta, Noelle and Yuno character cosmetics together with their associated equipment and the shared Anti-Magic Wrap, which is otherwise available for 500 V-Bucks.

The current Shop contains Asta’s Grimoire, Demon-Slayer Sword and Devil Wings; Noelle’s Grimoire and Wand; Yuno’s Grimoire and Spirit of Boreas; and the Anti-Magic Wrap, while Asta’s built-in Devil Transformation remains attached to his Outfit.

That makes this a relatively substantial first wave for an anime crossover. Epic has not simply released three character models and stopped there; each protagonist has recognizable equipment associated with their abilities, and two of the characters receive meaningful visual transformation options.

The grimoires are perfect Back Bling material

Perhaps the easiest Black Clover concept to translate into Fortnite is the grimoire. In the source material, grimoires are magical books connected to their owners and their spells, meaning they already function almost like personalized equipment. Epic has turned each of the three characters’ books into separate Back Blings, allowing players to retain one of the franchise’s most recognizable visual motifs even when using another Outfit.

Their differences also communicate character identity without requiring players to know the entire anime. Asta’s five-leaf grimoire is associated with his Anti-Magic and the devil residing within it, while Yuno carries the extraordinarily rare four-leaf clover book connected to his immense magical potential.

The trailer’s instruction to “grab your grimoires and jump into the bus” is therefore more literal than the usual crossover tagline. For once, one of the most important objects from the source series fits almost perfectly into an existing Fortnite cosmetic slot.

The Nissan GT-R NISMO gets its own Black Clover crossover

The strangest part of the collaboration does not involve magic at all. Epic has also launched a Nissan GT-R NISMO + Black Clover package for 2,800 V-Bucks, combining the licensed Nissan body with several Black Clover-themed decals and wheel options. Even by Fortnite standards, Asta sharing a collaboration with a modern Japanese performance car is an impressive collision of licenses.

The pack contains the Nissan GT-R NISMO Car Body, standard and Gold NISMO wheels and six decals. Three directly represent the anime characters and their Magic Knight affiliations: Black Bulls Asta, Golden Dawn Yuno and Black Bulls Noelle. Steel Line, High Line and Flames complete the decal selection, with Epic specifically advertising speed-reactive behavior on supported designs.

The vehicle has another important advantage: purchasing it also makes the supported content available in Rocket League. Epic’s official Car Body and bundle listings explicitly confirm the cross-game entitlement, extending the Black Clover collaboration outside Fortnite’s Battle Royale ecosystem.

Additional Anti-Magic vehicle cosmetics are being sold separately, including a 400 V-Bucks Boost, 300 V-Bucks Trail and 700 V-Bucks Wheels. Players therefore have two largely separate branches to the crossover: the anime character collection for traditional Fortnite play and a vehicle collection connecting Fortnite with Rocket League.

This is currently a cosmetic crossover rather than a new Battle Royale power set

One important distinction separates Black Clover from some of Fortnite’s largest anime collaborations. Epic has not announced Black Clover Mythics, spell abilities, NPC bosses or a dedicated gameplay mechanic as part of the current crossover. The official Fortnitemares announcement specifically promises Black Clover Outfits and accessories during October, while the live Item Shop contains the character and vehicle cosmetics.

That means Asta’s Demon-Slayer Sword is currently a Pickaxe rather than an Anti-Magic weapon capable of nullifying another player’s abilities, while Noelle and Yuno cannot use their water and wind spells as Battle Royale powers. Their grimoires are Back Blings rather than usable items.

This is worth clarifying because Fortnite has previously turned anime techniques into temporary weapons and abilities for franchises such as Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen. Black Clover obviously offers similar possibilities, but no such gameplay content has been officially confirmed as of October 5. Any future Anti-Magic sword, Wind Magic or other supernatural item would therefore be an additional announcement rather than part of the currently available collaboration.

Black Clover lands in the middle of Fortnite’s most crowded Halloween yet

The crossover is technically part of Fortnitemares 2026, even though Black Clover itself is not a horror franchise. Epic’s October event is functioning increasingly as a general collaboration festival around its Halloween content, with Black Clover sharing the month with Five Nights at Freddy’s, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, 99 Nights in the Forest, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator Badlands and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

The actual Battle Royale event is much darker. Fortnitemares has introduced the new Nightmare Neighborhood, a Freddy Krueger boss with his Freddy’s Nightmare Mythic, Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronic bosses, cursed cartridge Overrides, the Bonerattler SMG and returning Halloween weapons including the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher. Horde Rush has also returned, while an updated Nitemare Island is scheduled for Reload on October 8.

Black Clover therefore occupies the lighter anime side of a Shop currently overloaded with horror properties. That contrast is actually useful for Epic. Players who do not care about slashers or supernatural horror still receive a major licensed crossover during the event, while the Fortnitemares gameplay itself retains the Halloween identity.

The timing with Black Clover’s anime return is almost too precise to ignore

The October 3 release becomes considerably more interesting when viewed outside Fortnite. Black Clover’s new TV anime season began broadcasting in Japan on exactly the same date at 11 PM JST, with a worldwide promotional campaign linking Tokyo, New York, London and São Paulo around the premiere. Asta, Yuno and Noelle were also central to the pre-broadcast event, with their Japanese voice actors appearing together during the launch programming.

Fortnite then places those exact three characters at the center of its crossover.

Epic has not publicly described the Item Shop release as an official promotional tie-in to the television premiere, so it would be excessive to claim a formal marketing arrangement without confirmation. The synchronization is nevertheless notable: the anime returns after a major absence, its three central heroes receive enormous international attention and Fortnite introduces all three on the same day.

For Black Clover, that creates a useful entry point for audiences who may recognize Asta from the wider anime landscape without having followed the series recently. For Fortnite, the timing gives the crossover relevance beyond simply adding another manga property to an already enormous anime catalogue.

Fortnite has found another series built perfectly for cosmetic translation

Black Clover adapts surprisingly cleanly to Fortnite because its heroes already possess the kind of recognizable equipment that can be redistributed across the Locker. Grimoires become Back Blings, swords and magical weapons become Pickaxes, Devil Wings become character equipment, magical forms become selectable styles and faction iconography becomes vehicle decals. Little needs to be invented purely to fill Fortnite’s cosmetic categories.

The first wave also makes the obvious character choices without exhausting the franchise. Asta, Yuno and Noelle establish the fundamental trio, but the Black Bulls alone provide numerous potential future additions. Yami Sukehiro, Nacht Faust, Luck Voltia, Vanessa Enoteca, Magna Swing and others are all prominent enough to support later releases, while antagonists from the current anime storyline provide another direction entirely. The official Black Clover character catalogue already identifies a much broader cast surrounding the three Fortnite newcomers.

For now, however, the collaboration is focused tightly on the people most capable of introducing Black Clover to players who have never watched an episode.

Asta brings Anti-Magic and the Devil Transformation. Noelle brings her Valkyrie Dress and water-themed equipment. Yuno brings the Golden Dawn, Wind Magic imagery and the Spirit of Boreas. Even their grimoires can follow another Fortnite character into battle once unlocked.

The Clover Kingdom has spent years asking who will eventually become Wizard King.

Fortnite has provided a considerably stranger test.

Grab the grimoire, survive 99 other players and see who gets the crown first.
