Fortnite Treasure Hunters’ One Piece Trailer Brings the Straw Hats to Crossbones Isle

The Going Merry sails into Fortnite in a new One Piece Hybrid Trailer made in partnership with Toei Animation. Released alongside Treasure Hunters on November 1, the video opens with an animated sequence before shifting to the game itself. That change of format captures the scale of the crossover: the Straw Hats get an introduction in the style of their anime, then their ship, weapons and powers become part of an island that players can explore and fight over.
Treasure Hunters is already live as a Chapter 7 mini-season. Luffy, Nami and Usopp headlined the first Item Shop release, while Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin joined the Battle Pass. Zoro, Sanji and Tony Tony Chopper are due in the next shop wave, and Zoro has his own competitive cup. The biggest changes, though, are already on the island: matches now take place on the 80-player Crossbones Isle, where eating a Devil Fruit can change the way you fight.
Toei Animation Gives the Crossover Its Own Anime Opening
The hybrid trailer brings the two versions of the crossover together. Its animated opening gives the crew a familiar look and rhythm before handing over to footage of Luffy moving through Fortnite’s island. The Going Merry appears on the approach, and even a cannon gets the Straw Hats’ Jolly Roger. Those details carry the crew’s identity into the island itself, where the action shifts from a scripted sequence to the sort of encounter players can have in a match.
Toei also produced the standalone collaboration animation released through the official One Piece channels. Its credits name Kokoro Kondo as director and Chiharu Akakura for character design, with Hiroshi Kitadani’s “We Are!” on the soundtrack. That companion cut is worth distinguishing from Fortnite’s hybrid edit: it lets the anime sequence stand on its own, while the hybrid trailer uses it to set up the new Battle Royale season.
Crossbones Isle Recreates Some of One Piece’s Earliest Stops
Crossbones Isle is a skull-shaped map designed for 80-player matches. It puts several stops from the Straw Hats’ early adventures within reach of one another. Windmill Village brings Luffy’s hometown to the coast, Baratie Bay has the floating restaurant, and Loguetown gives players a harbour town to search. At Arlong Park, the fish-men’s stronghold becomes a landing spot squads can contest.
The island has locations of its own as well, including the ships at Plunder Port and the fortress at Fort Fortuna. Cannons can launch players across the map, so a position that looks far from the next fight can still offer a quick route into it. Epic has also made chests refill over time. A location cleared early in the match can hold loot again later, making a return trip worthwhile if the storm allows it.
Devil Fruits Change How You Fight
The Gum-Gum Fruit transforms the player into Luffy and lets them attack with long-range punches and foot slams. It also has a charged launch that can send the player flying. The Flame-Flame Fruit gives players Ace’s abilities, with rapid attacks and a Fire Fist finisher. These transformations come from items found during a match, separately from the Luffy and Ace outfits available through the shop and Battle Pass.
Other characters are represented through equipment. Zoro’s Three Sword Style combines close-range slashes with a dash, while Usopp’s Slingshot gives players a ranged weapon built around lining up individual shots. Nami’s Tangerine restores health and shields and gives a boost when moving through water. Together, the items cover several different needs: closing the gap, attacking at range or recovering after a fight.
The season finds a use for the series’ wanted posters, too. Tear one down and it becomes a treasure map leading to a buried Sprite Chest. The returning Sprite Mastery track sits under the lobby’s Treasure tab, with new pages opening weekly. Players who master 40 Sprites earn the Navigator’s Nosedive Umbrella.
Luffy Leads the Item Shop While Ace and Robin Join the Battle Pass
The character rollout is split between the Battle Pass, the Item Shop and competitive rewards. Ace and Nico Robin are the One Piece characters in the pass. Monkey D. Luffy, Nami and Usopp went into the shop at launch alongside themed accessories. Among those items is the Going Merry Glider, which lets players bring the ship into their own drop onto the island.
| Character or item | How it arrives |
|---|---|
| Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin | Treasure Hunters Battle Pass |
| Monkey D. Luffy, Nami and Usopp | Item Shop launch wave, November 1 |
| Roronoa Zoro and Sanji | Item Shop, scheduled for November 7 |
| Tony Tony Chopper | Sidekick, scheduled for November 7 |
| Buggy | Item Shop, scheduled for November 13 |
Chopper’s category is the one to look out for in that second wave. Epic lists him as a Sidekick, a companion cosmetic rather than an outfit you equip as your own character. Buggy has two dates to keep straight as well: Epic’s update notes place him on the island from November 8, while his Item Shop outfit is scheduled for November 13.
The Zoro Cup Gives Players Another Route to the Outfit
The European One Piece: Zoro Cup is scheduled for November 6, with separate Duos sessions for Battle Royale and Zero Build. There is also a Zoro Mobile Cup, which uses Solo Reload. Eligible top finishers can earn Zoro’s outfit and matching cosmetics. Some placements also carry a physical treasure box in eligible countries, containing a One Piece Card Game booster box and a crossover poster. Epic lists final session times in the Compete tab, and prize thresholds vary by region and format.
The Buggy Cup follows on Epic’s announced calendar on November 13. Beyond the cups, the island’s roster keeps changing: A$AP Rocky’s battleship is already part of the opening week, and later arrivals include Lil Uzi Vert, Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto and Oscar. The next stops for One Piece fans are Zoro, Sanji and Chopper’s shop wave, then Buggy’s arrival on the island. Epic has set December 5 for the Chapter 7 finale.
