A karambit arrives for the first time in FragPunk in a season marked by corruption and the collapse of order

Visual identity has always been one of FragPunk's greatest strengths. While other competitive shooters lean into more conventional futuristic designs, Bad Guitar Studio's title has built much of its personality around extreme aesthetics, alternative universes, and cosmetics that seem to tell their own stories. The new Eroded Light collection follows exactly that path, but with an addition that many players have been waiting for: the first-ever karambit in the game's history.
The developer has officially revealed the Eroded Light skin line, a marquee feature of Season 5 Chapter 1, available through the Lucky Prize Pool system starting May 28. The collection revolves around a dark theme where corruption slowly consumes every structure of power, blending cold steel, decadent symbols, and an aesthetic inspired by the fall of ancient civilizations.
The undisputed star of the trailer is the new karambit, a melee weapon type that is extremely popular within the competitive shooter genre thanks to titles like Counter-Strike and VALORANT. Its inclusion holds special weight because it marks the first time FragPunk has introduced this specific knife format to its cosmetic catalog.
And it doesn’t seem like an accidental choice.
Karambits often occupy an almost iconic status within shooter cosmetic economies. They frequently become some of the community's most sought-after items due to their unique animations, inspect mechanics, and aesthetic appeal. In games where customization is key, the arrival of a karambit generates just as much hype as a new skin for a primary weapon.
The version showcased in Eroded Light opts for an aggressive, ceremonial appearance. The design pairs eroded metallic surfaces with details inspired by symbols of corruption, featuring a blade that reflects the very concept of decay that gives the collection its name. This is all paired with visual effects that reinforce the feeling that the weapon comes from a world where order has completely collapsed.
This theme aligns perfectly with the narrative tone FragPunk is developing for its fifth season. Under the tagline “Count up your sins,” the promotional material emphasizes concepts related to judgment, moral decline, and the destruction of control systems. It’s an artistic direction that stands in stark contrast to previous, more colorful or experimental seasons.
The timing of this release is also notable. FragPunk continues to solidify its position within the competitive tactical shooter market, relying heavily on two distinct elements that set it apart from its rivals: the Shard Cards system, which alters the rules of each match, and a much bolder visual identity than most direct competitors.
Skin collections play a vital role within the game's ecosystem. They don't just change weapon appearances; they reinforce the unique personality of each season and build a recognizable visual lore for the community.
The Eroded Light collection follows a growing trend in FragPunk: designing skins that feel like part of a complete thematic universe rather than isolated drops. The karambit, the primary weapons, and the effects all share a cohesive artistic direction, heavily boosting their appeal to collectors.
For now, it remains to be seen how the community will respond to the Lucky Prize Pool system and how the game's first karambit will be received. However, one thing is glaringly obvious after watching the trailer: Bad Guitar Studio knew exactly that introducing a karambit would get people talking.
If the goal was to capture player attention ahead of the new season, it looks like the smallest weapon in the update might just end up being the biggest deal.
