FragPunk militarizes the battlefield with Steel Guard and transforms Nitro, Broker, and Hurricane into war machines

The new era of FragPunk will bring more than just competitive changes and balance adjustments; it is also beginning to forge a much more aggressive visual identity. The studio has officially unveiled the Steel Guard Bundle, a cosmetic collection included within the Season 5 Chapter 1 ecosystem, designed to transform several roster characters into true mechanized combat units.

The promotional tagline leaves little room for interpretation:

“No mercy. Only machinery.”

And looking at the trailer, that concept holds up down to the very last detail.

The stars of the bundle are Nitro, Broker, and Hurricane, three characters receiving new skins inspired by reinforced steel, industrial armor, and an aesthetic clearly driven by brute force and military tech.

The collection bets on a design where almost all human elements disappear. The result conveys the feeling of soldiers reconstructed for endless warfare, rather than simple combatants wearing armor.

This approach fits perfectly with the tone that Season 5 – The Darkest Hour is trying to build around the game: a darker, more mechanized era defined by constant conflict.

Visually, the Steel Guard Bundle seems to rely on heavy metallic surfaces, cold lighting, and visible mechanical components. Everything reinforces a specific idea: absolute endurance and destructive capacity.

The choice of characters doesn't seem accidental either

Nitro, Broker, and Hurricane have very different profiles within the roster, so applying the same theme to all three helps create the feeling of a specialized military unit rather than isolated cosmetics.

Furthermore, these types of collections usually have a significant impact on competitive shooters because customization also functions as an expression of identity during matches. Many players end up associating specific visual styles with their main characters or usual roles.

The community has already begun reacting, especially to the bundle's extremely industrial tone and the possibility that Steel Guard might eventually expand to other Lancers in future seasons.

Beyond the cosmetics, this launch continues to reinforce a clear trend in FragPunk: pairing major gameplay changes with a cohesive artistic direction. While new characters, card adjustments, and meta updates arrive, the aesthetics also evolve to reflect that sense of transformation.

With the Steel Guard Bundle, FragPunk adds another layer to The Darkest Hour. Because when a season begins to be defined by steel, machinery, and a total absence of compassion… it usually means the battlefield is changing more than it seems.
