FragPunk Season 5 Chapter 2 brings Dreamland Headshots Battle Pass and major Shard Card changes

09/07/2026 - 09:10

FragPunk is opening Season 5 Chapter 2 with a new content drop built around the Dreamland Headshots Battle Pass, login rewards, event challenges and a notable shake-up to the game’s Shard Card pool. The update is not just a cosmetic refresh. It also adjusts several Lancers, changes weapon behavior and removes dozens of cards from core modes, making this chapter a meaningful mid-season reset for players who have been following Darkest Hour.

Dreamland Headshots leads the new Battle Pass

The headline addition is the Season 5 Chapter 2 Battle Pass, titled Dreamland Headshots, which goes live on July 9. Its main cosmetic push centers on new Superb Lancer skins for Pathojen and Ixchel, with Pathojen [Kepler Medic] and Ixchel [Intoxicating Barkeep] leading the pass. A Rare Lancer skin, Sunning Waves, is also part of the chapter’s cosmetic lineup, alongside five Superb weapon skins under the Dreamland Headshots theme.

That Battle Pass focus fits FragPunk’s current live-service structure. The game’s progression model relies heavily on chapter-based cosmetic drops, free reward tracks, event missions and rotating incentives to keep players returning between larger seasonal beats. Here, the update is clearly designed to give both paying and free players something to chase: premium-style skins for collectors, but also login rewards, event currency and free items for anyone willing to play during the chapter window.

The free reward push is particularly visible through the new Chapter Login campaign. Players who log in daily can claim items including the Dreamland Headshots lobby wallpaper, Seal Cone headwear, Metallic Rose and Neon Purple stickers, an Ultra Can, Darkest Hour sticker packs, a Darkest Hour charm gift pack and 600 Glunite Coins. It is a standard retention tool, but a useful one: it rewards regular check-ins without demanding ranked performance or heavy grinding.

The Seaside Challenge Ranked Vacation event adds another layer of progression. Its reward pool includes Mad Dog-S - Meow Milk, Ultra Cans, Rank Protection Cards, Darkest Hour sticker packs, a charm gift pack, basic sticker packs and 350 Glunite Coins. The inclusion of Rank Protection Cards is notable because it gives competitive players a more practical reason to engage with the event, rather than treating it as a purely cosmetic checklist.

Context and current situation

The update arrives as FragPunk continues to position itself as a fast-paced 5v5 hero shooter with a tactical shooter structure and a rule-breaking Shard Card system. That system remains the game’s core differentiator: rather than relying only on gunplay, Lancer abilities and map control, each round can be modified by cards that alter match conditions, player behavior, weapons or objectives.

For Season 5 Chapter 2, Bad Guitar Studio is making a significant pass on that card ecosystem. In Shard Clash, the update removes 62 Shard Cards. In Chaos Clash, it removes 32 Shard Cards. Deathmatch gets a more symmetrical change, with 14 Shard Cards added and 14 Shard Cards removed. That is a substantial rotation, and it suggests the developers are trying to tighten the match experience rather than simply piling more modifiers onto an already chaotic system.

The update also adjusts several Lancers. Broker’s Goddard’s Vengeance receives a larger rocket damage radius and a larger maximum explosion damage radius, although the damage falloff is now more pronounced. Zephyr’s Fade Away is reworked so its usage replenishes over time, while invisibility interactions and domain duration are adjusted. Chum’s Chomper gets a health increase from 75 to 100, giving the ability more staying power.

Other Lancer changes are more about responsiveness and utility. Wildstyle can equip the graffiti gun faster, swap to other weapons more quickly and interrupt the post-fire animation sooner. Dex’s Mimic Trap now has increased range, damages and exposes the player who triggers it, and sends Dex a notification when the trap is triggered or destroyed. Kismet receives meaningful changes too: Misery Angel no longer pulls enemies within range and now replenishes over 45 seconds, while Hello, Goodbye shifts away from continuous movement damage and applies a 12% vulnerability effect instead.

Weapons are also being tuned. Highlife gets reduced bullet spread while hipfiring, while weapons such as Boom Broom, My Way and Vicious receive reload timing adjustments intended to better match animation sequences. These are not flashy changes, but in a tactical shooter, small timing and spread adjustments can affect weapon feel significantly.

What it means for players

For casual players, Season 5 Chapter 2 is mainly a reason to log back in, claim free rewards and explore the new Dreamland Headshots cosmetics. The login campaign and event rewards are direct, easy to understand and broad enough to appeal to players who do not want to spend every session in ranked.

For competitive players, the more important story is the card and balance layer. Removing dozens of Shard Cards from Shard Clash and Chaos Clash should have a clear impact on match pacing, round predictability and tactical planning. FragPunk works best when its chaos feels deliberate rather than random. A tighter card pool can make matches easier to read while still preserving the unpredictable identity that separates the game from more traditional tactical shooters.

The Lancer changes could also affect pick priorities. Dex looks more informative and punishing thanks to the updated Mimic Trap, while Kismet’s changes may shift how players use her pressure tools. Zephyr’s altered resource flow around Fade Away could change how aggressively players manage invisibility and positioning. None of these adjustments should be treated as a full meta reset on their own, but combined with the Shard Card rotation, they make the chapter more substantial than a simple Battle Pass update.

The free rewards are useful, but the real test will be whether the new chapter improves match quality. FragPunk’s biggest strength is also its biggest design risk: the Shard Card system can make rounds memorable, but too many modifiers can dilute strategy. This update appears to recognize that tension by cutting, rotating and rebalancing rather than only adding more noise.

A cleaner chapter built around rewards and readability

Season 5 Chapter 2 gives FragPunk a familiar live-service package: a new Battle Pass, free login rewards, event incentives and cosmetic goals. What makes the update more interesting is the scale of its gameplay housekeeping. Between the large Shard Card removals, Lancer adjustments and weapon feel changes, Darkest Hour is getting a sharper second chapter with more than just new skins.

For players already active, the update should be worth checking immediately for the free rewards and new Battle Pass track. For returning players, the bigger question is whether the cleaned-up card pool and balance adjustments make the game feel more readable without losing the chaotic identity that defines FragPunk.
