The Nine-Tails is preparing to strike Bermuda once again as Free Fire revives the first chapter of its NARUTO SHIPPUDEN collaboration. The returning crossover introduces new Battle Royale activities alongside familiar locations, ninjutsu abilities and rewards inspired by the internationally popular anime series.
Garena’s latest gameplay presentation focuses on the features players will encounter across the transformed version of Bermuda. The Nine-Tails will no longer be limited to creating chaos around the island, as players will apparently have an opportunity to control the creature through the power of the Sharingan. A new Ninja Academy can also be explored, while additional ninjutsu abilities expand the collaboration’s influence beyond cosmetic bundles.
Free Fire × NARUTO SHIPPUDEN Chapter 1 is returning during September 2026. Garena has not included a precise closing date in the latest global announcement, so players should check the in-game event calendar for the schedule applicable to their region.
The Nine-Tails returns to terrorize Bermuda
The Nine-Tails invasion was one of the defining features of the original collaboration, fundamentally changing the opening stages of Battle Royale matches on Bermuda.
In the first version of Chapter 1, the creature could attack the transport plane, an arsenal or a location on the ground. Each possibility produced a different situation and encouraged squads to reconsider their initial route. A damaged plane could disrupt the normal beginning of a match, while an attack on a valuable location could turn that area into an immediate point of interest.
The returning event builds upon that concept by giving players a more active role. Garena’s written promotional material confirms that the Nine-Tails can be controlled using the Sharingan, potentially transforming the creature from an unpredictable environmental threat into a contested source of power.
The detailed conditions required to take control have not yet been fully explained in the global written announcement. It remains unclear whether players must capture a particular location, obtain a special item or complete a sequence of objectives before commanding the Nine-Tails. The duration of that control and the creature’s available attacks have also not been specified.
Even without those details, the feature suggests an important change in emphasis. The original event asked players to react to the Nine-Tails, whereas the returning version appears to let them compete for influence over it. If control is restricted to one player or squad, the associated objective could become one of Bermuda’s most dangerous hotspots.
Explore the new Ninja Academy
The crossover also adds the Ninja Academy, a new Naruto-themed destination that players can explore during Battle Royale matches. The announcement does not yet provide a complete breakdown of its internal layout or available resources, but themed locations in Free Fire are rarely designed as purely decorative attractions.
A recognizable landmark can significantly alter rotations across Bermuda, especially during the opening weeks of an event. Players interested in discovering every reference will inevitably converge on the location, while more competitive squads may visit it in search of special items, ninjutsu or advantageous loot.
This combination can make the Ninja Academy a particularly volatile landing zone. Its popularity among Naruto fans is likely to produce frequent early engagements, while its unfamiliar layout will temporarily favor players who learn its entrances, vertical routes and defensive positions first.
The Academy joins the Hidden Leaf Village content associated with Chapter 1. During the original 2025 event, Garena reconstructed the village where Rim Nam Village had previously been located. Players could visit recognizable areas such as Hokage Rock, the Hokage Mansion, the Exam Arena, Naruto’s house and the Ichiraku Ramen Shop.
The ramen shop was more than environmental storytelling. Eating a bowl of ramen provided an automatic Energy Point regeneration effect that remained active throughout the match. Garena has confirmed that the Hidden Leaf Village is returning, although the company has not yet clarified whether every interactive feature from its original appearance will operate in exactly the same way.
New ninjutsu enters the loot pool
Ninjutsu abilities are another major component of the returning collaboration. Players will be able to discover and use new techniques in combat, adding supernatural tools to Free Fire’s traditional selection of firearms, explosives and survival equipment.
The original Chapter 1 distributed ninjutsu through scrolls found around the map. Its abilities included projectile-based attacks capable of destroying Gloo Walls and charging techniques that damaged enemies struck by them. Naruto-inspired revival points also used a Summoning Reanimation Jutsu effect to return eliminated players to the battlefield with improved starting equipment.
The 2026 version is being promoted with new ninjutsu, but Garena has not published a definitive global list of every technique or its numerical properties. Specific damage values, cooldowns, ranges and inventory restrictions should therefore not be assumed until they appear in the game or in official patch documentation.
Their presence nevertheless creates several tactical questions. A technique capable of breaking defensive structures can punish squads that rely too heavily on Gloo Walls, while movement or area-control abilities could reshape close-range fights. Their usefulness will ultimately depend upon availability: rare scrolls can become valuable objectives, but overly common abilities risk dominating conventional gunplay.
The most successful Free Fire collaborations usually integrate their licensed powers into the game’s existing rhythm instead of replacing it. Ninjutsu should give players additional options, but positioning, weapon accuracy and squad coordination will still need to determine the majority of encounters if the event is to remain balanced.
Free Hinata or Jiraiya bundle rewards
The collaboration is also accompanied by a new selection of free Naruto-themed rewards. Garena has confirmed that players can choose between a Hinata Bundle and a Jiraiya Bundle as a free grand prize through the special event interface.
This choice is important because Hinata is the major new character addition associated with the returning chapter, while Jiraiya’s outfit was one of the recognizable rewards from the original event. Offering one of the two bundles allows returning players to pursue a new costume without excluding newer participants who missed Chapter 1’s initial run.
Players should consider the choice carefully if the event does not permit both bundles to be claimed. Garena’s announcement identifies them as alternative grand prizes, but the precise mission requirements and whether the unselected bundle will remain available through another route may differ between regional versions.
Additional free collectibles have also been promised. The original crossover offered items such as a Naruto Battle Card, a Hokage Rock Gloo Wall, Rock Lee headwear, a Hidden Leaf Village headband and event-themed avatars. However, players should not assume that the complete 2025 reward track will return unchanged. Only the rewards shown in the current in-game event interface should be treated as confirmed for the 2026 edition.
A crossover built around playable ideas
Chapter 1 originally launched between January 10 and February 8, 2025, introducing Naruto content across Battle Royale and Clash Squad. Alongside its themed environments and abilities, it featured character bundles based on Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake, Sakura and Jiraiya.
Its cosmetic catalogue included the Naruto Multi-Look Changer with Sage Mode and Kurama Link Mode, the M4A1 Naruto Theme, the Snake Sword Katana, the Ninja Run emote and Free Fire’s first Super Emote, which summoned Gamabunta outside active combat.
Garena expanded the partnership later in 2025 with Chapter 2: Ninja War. That continuation introduced more abilities and collectibles associated with the conflict between the Hidden Leaf Village and the Akatsuki. The campaign subsequently received the award for Best Use of IP or Licence at the 2026 Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards.
The return of Chapter 1 therefore serves two audiences. Newer players receive access to the crossover’s original setting and ideas, while veterans get revised gameplay, a new character bundle and another reason to revisit Bermuda.
More than another collection of anime skins
The most promising aspect of the returning event is its focus on playable content. Character outfits remain an important part of the collaboration, but the Nine-Tails, Sharingan mechanic, Ninja Academy and ninjutsu abilities give the crossover a presence inside actual matches.
Controlling the Nine-Tails could become the central attraction if Garena provides meaningful counterplay and prevents one squad from gaining an overwhelming advantage too early. The Ninja Academy must similarly offer more than a visually accurate location if it is expected to remain relevant after players have explored it for the first time.
Some important details remain unconfirmed, including the complete ninjutsu roster, exact event schedule, reward requirements and rules governing control of the Nine-Tails. Those omissions make it too early to judge the event’s balance. What is clear is that Garena is treating the collaboration as a gameplay event rather than a simple rerun of old cosmetics.
Bermuda is becoming a ninja battlefield once again, and this time the island’s most dangerous creature may be fighting under the command of a player.
