Genshin Impact introduces Prune and teases a story where a witch hunt could end in an unexpected alliance

HoYoverse continues to build the mystery surrounding the new characters linked to Luna VII, and the recent teaser dedicated to Prune hints at one of the most unique and human narratives seen in recent Genshin Impact previews. Title "Listen to the Witch Hunter’s Vow!", the studio introduces a figure obsessed with eliminating witches... though everything points to her mission ultimately taking a completely different turn.

The presentation defines Prune as someone driven by absolute conviction. Her desire to eliminate witches is born neither from empty arrogance nor simple threats; the teaser emphasizes that her determination is entirely real. However, it also leaves a warning loaded with irony and potential emotional conflict: no one ever taught her what happens when the hunter gets too close to what they swore to destroy.

And that seems to be the true core of the character.

Rather than building another rigid figure based solely on duty or revenge, HoYoverse appears to be betting on a story centered on personal contradictions, prejudices, and unexpected bonds. The premise recalls classic narratives where the line between enemy and ally gradually blurs.

The term "witch-hunter" is also particularly striking within the recent context of Genshin Impact. After several teasers packed with references to fallen angels, divine punishments, and mysterious entities, introducing characters directly tied to hunting witches suggests that the next narrative arc could dive much deeper into hidden factions, forbidden magic, or ideological conflicts within the world.

The community has already begun speculating on whether Prune will have connections to groups like the Hexenzirkel, the organization of witches repeatedly mentioned in the game's lore. HoYoverse has spent years slowly building the mystery around certain figures related to ancient magic, so the appearance of a witch hunter might be no coincidence.

The teaser also hints at a tone that is less solemn and more ironic than that of other recent characters. While figures like Nicole were shrouded in celestial tragedy and existential symbolism, Prune seems to be built around the clash between firm ideals and emotions that could ultimately shatter those convictions.

This could make her one of the characters with the most dynamic narrative development in future storylines.

Visually and thematically, the concept of a hunter obsessed with fulfilling an oath fits perfectly with HoYoverse's recent taste for characters shaped by internal conflicts rather than simple goals.

All of this comes at a time when Genshin Impact seems to be clearly intensifying the narrative weight of its new characters ahead of the next major events related to Teyvat. Stories are increasingly focusing on clashing ideologies, fate, sacrifice, and the ambiguous relationships between allies and enemies.

For now, HoYoverse is keeping the mystery around Prune under wraps. But following this teaser, it seems evident that her story won't just be about hunting witches... but about discovering what happens when your deepest certainties begin to shatter.
