BLACK CLOVER: QUARTET KNIGHTS

Firstly, we must say that it is very rare that such a successful manga or anime does not have its own adaptation in the form of a video game, and this is one of the reasons why Bandai Namco has decided to bet on Black Clover, Yuki Tabata's acclaimed work in which we discover the story of Asta, a young orphan who aspires to become king of wizards in a world where everyone has magical abilities except him.

Another important note is that instead of resorting to the typical 3D fighting game in open environments, this time we can enjoy a third-person action game fully focused on four-on-four competitive team multiplayer.

The objective of the game varies depending on the mode we choose, although the truth is that there is not much variety, and everything is summed up into Zone Control, Treasure Hunt, and Crystal Carry. The game lacks different mode options and the ones available aren’t particularly original, however, they do work well and they offer an intense and fun experience

Regarding abilities, Black Clover falls under the genre of hero shooters, which means that players are able to fight, choosing from various characters of the series, each one with their own magic and special techniques. Also, each player takes on a different role (melee fighter, long-distance spell caster, healer, and support), so having a balanced group often increases your chances of victory.

The good thing is that, since each player feels different in their role, they bring variety to the game, while encouraging others to give it a try.

After each game, we will receive gold to invest in unlocking new content, such as additional costumes, color variants, phrases, elements for our player card, and, most importantly, cards to customize our character’s equipment.

As for the controls, they are very simple and accessible, since we can only perform the basic attack; the link ability (if we perform ours, a warning appears on screen, then another member of the team will do the same, enhancing its effects); and the defensive move (a unique ability that needs to be recharged after its use to fill the energy bar). Also, we are able to use the objects that we find in the different scenarios and operate with fairly high mobility, allowing us to jump and grab onto ledges, and propel ourselves (even remaining in the air with other characters).

Finally, the soundtrack has quality compositions with a slight epic touch that helps to perfectly set the scene for confrontations. Sound effects are varied and very recognizable, and, of course, the dubbing is from the original Japanese anime.
