Magic: The Gathering Arena

05/11/2021 - 09:51

When Wizards of the Coast launched Magic back in 1993, they had no idea it would enjoy success on such a colossal scale.

We’re talking about a game that has attracted more than 35 million players to date in its physical and digital format, and whose fanbase continues to grow since the arrival of Arena.

In Magic The Gathering: Arena (may we point out that it’s FREE TO PLAY) players can access each and every collection launched since November 2017.

One of Magic’s biggest flaws used to be that it was impossible to catch up if you left the game for a while or if you were new to it. It’s a straightforward in-person game – almost anyone can pick up the rules quickly – but that was where it ended. Wizards of the Coast was always keen to waive the entry fee to its most prized possession, releasing simple starter packs, affordable deck-building kits and basic annual collections. Even so, the economic aspect, need for an opponent and lack of support from certain stores on rules, etc., put some players off who simply wanted to grab their cards and play.

In this respect, Magic The Gathering: Arena completely changed the dynamic and mechanics; and we wouldn’t be exaggerating by saying that from then onwards the game changed drastically. The video game acts as a tutorial and a way in, as well as complimenting the game in its physical format. It’s a 360º experience that unites expert and novice, treating them as equals and presenting them both with personalised offers and proposals.

Don’t give it another thought – get straight to it! Enjoy the unique experience of a game that has been moulded to perfection over the years.
