Anna needs find new friends and a new job in another country. But, at the same time, she also has to fight off the strange monsters and visions following her around.

To achieve her goals, Anna has had to move to a place which appears to be hiding some very disturbing secrets. Aside from its creepy elements, the game gives us a taste of the situations that many immigrants find themselves in. Anna must deal with the stresses of getting to know new people, the loneliness that comes with leaving your old life behind, and the challenges that a language barrier poses. What’s more, she seems to have a lot of other personal struggles, including problems with medication that she takes for work. She has a really tough life, and you experience her struggles first-hand in Pill Baby.

Reality for Anna is a rocky path – as if she needed more challenges. At times, she finds herself fighting off sinister creatures in live-action combat sequences. For this, she has a wide range of moves that can be used in combo. She also has various custom gloves which give her even more power, and which can be used for elemental attacks. Some of the things she is fighting against may surprise you from time to time. The monsters appear to be connected to her feelings and her life, and can tell you more about Anna and her struggles should you pay close attention.

Pill Baby is both an intriguing mix of bleak storytelling about life as an immigrant and a challenging action title. It may seem a strange mix at first, but linking the struggle of life as an immigrant to physically fighting off monsters (which are related to the challenges she faces in life) makes for a really interesting game.

Pill Baby comes recommended as an indie game which is intriguing to play with a profound story. On top of this, it is visually very unique. This, of course, delights some and comes across as very random to others.
