Who doesn’t remember those exciting and stressful times infront of the arcade game machine playing Windjammers? What a time that was…

The good thing is that we now have Windjammers 2 for the PC and coming along with it, hand in hand, is no other than Dotemu.

Normally launching a frisbee would take us back to those peaceful holidays on the beach but in Windjammers, that is far from the reality!

On this occasion, Dotemu has gone even further and updated the title in several aspects. It’s clear that the graphics are more visible now they have gone from pixel graphics to hand drawn characters, with plenty of detail and a comic style similar to that of Street of Rage 4. Another important change is the playability, although the objective of the game has stayed the same. One of the most highlighted changes is the possibility of jumping when the rival launches a balloon to dunk the floor and get points for the “Miss”.

Another really cool thing coming with the new version of the game is that there are now 10 playable characters rather than the 6 available in the first release.

There are two main game modes. One of them is the Arcade mode, where like in the original game, we must beat the machine in different games to unblock the final scene for each character. Get ready to sweat because the machine has no mercy. Then, on the other hand, there are the classification games where we can compete with players worldwide to get to the top. This is one of the things that gives the game so much hype, as before there was no way of playing against other players, other than being together in the same place. If we would prefer that, we also have the option of Local Versus, where we can play a few games with friends while having a few drinks and laughing (or fighting) on the sofa.

If you like retro, this is your game, and it will bring back a lot of memories. If you like challenges, this game is for you. If you like tension, get playing… Come on, it’s worth having a few games of this epic title!
