Marathon’s promotion is becoming as enigmatic as its own universe. The video Tech Demo Gone Wrong | Marathon Showroom Prank features a mock technological demonstration that spirals into an elaborate sci-fi prank for unsuspecting participants.

The setting is the supposed showroom of Sekiguchi Genetics, a fictional corporation within the Marathon world dedicated to experimenting with radical technologies like consciousness transfer. During the presentation, visitors are shown prototypes designed to port the human mind into new artificial bodies—a concept that fits perfectly with the game’s transhumanist identity.

One of the video's most intriguing moments is the introduction of the K.A.A.L.1model, a technological pet capable of hosting a digital consciousness. The promotional tagline is as haunting as it is humorous: “Don’t say goodbye, say good boy,” hinting that even pets could become vessels for the mind.

The demonstration also showcases the Vandal shell model, an enhanced body with superior physical capabilities, equipped with Microjetsand aDisrupt Cannon. The disclaimer included in the video—emphasizing that the disruptor cannon is "not a toy"—is part of the prank’s ironic tone, reinforcing the over-the-top corporate aesthetic of the game’s universe.

With this promotional piece, Bungie continues to expand Marathon’s narrative world beyond the gameplay, using humor and fictional marketing to introduce key lore concepts. Would you dare to attempt a consciousness transfer if promised an upgraded body... or would you rather keep your mind exactly where it is?

In Marathon, even a simple tech demo can end very, very badly.
