Gorr the God Butcher has already brought his crusade into Marvel Rivals. Now players are about to enter the place where the consequences of that crusade have been carved directly into reality.

NetEase Games has revealed The God Quarry, the new Domination map coming to Marvel Rivals on September 24 UTC as part of Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy. Far removed from the bright streets, futuristic cities and recognizable Earth locations that make up much of the game’s current map pool, the new battlefield is buried among the petrified remains of dead gods and built around some of the most abstract concepts in the Marvel multiverse.

The reveal introduces locations including the Halls of All-Knowing, Confessional Eternity and the House of Ideas, while continuing the season’s central story surrounding Gorr. Loki has apparently met his own end and returned in a dramatically altered role as The Chronicler, recording the battles between heroes and the God Butcher with his own blood.

It is one of Marvel Rivals’ strangest environments yet, and that seems entirely appropriate for a season built around the idea that even gods can die.

The God Quarry Turns a Graveyard of Gods Into a Battlefield

The basic premise immediately separates the new map from most existing Marvel Rivals locations. NetEase describes the God Quarry as lying deep among the petrified corpses of fallen deities, with the “ultimate hub of reality” hidden somewhere inside.

The map reveal leans heavily into that scale. Instead of treating the dead gods as background lore, their enormous remains become part of the environment itself, creating the impression that the heroes are fighting through a cosmic archaeological site constructed from beings that once existed far above ordinary mortals.

That choice also provides a natural visual extension of Gorr’s philosophy. Season 10 is not simply about another villain attempting to conquer territory or accumulate power. Gorr believes gods themselves are the problem, and the God Quarry transforms that ideology into environmental storytelling. Every petrified divine corpse effectively becomes another monument to the argument he has spent the season making with All-Black the Necrosword.

The resulting battlefield looks less like somewhere designed for human habitation and more like a place that exists outside the normal rules governing the rest of the Chronoverse.

It Is a New Domination Map

The God Quarry joins Marvel Rivals as a Domination map, placing it in the same broad gameplay category as locations such as Birnin T’Challa, Hell’s Heaven, Krakoa and Klyntar: Celestial Husk.

Domination concentrates both teams around contested capture areas rather than following the attacking and defending structures used by Convoy and Convergence. That means the map’s geometry, entrances, vertical routes and lines of sight around its objective spaces will be particularly important once players begin learning it.

The reveal trailer gives players their first real look at those spaces but does not yet provide enough competitive data to determine which team compositions will become strongest there. As always with a new Marvel Rivals map, the visual presentation is only one side of the equation. Vertical heroes can exploit geometry that grounded characters cannot, destructible environments can change routes during a fight, and apparently minor cover positions can become defining features once coordinated teams begin testing them.

The God Quarry therefore arrives as both a narrative location and another variable for the competitive map pool.

The Halls of All-Knowing Embrace Cosmic Minimalism

One of the map’s most striking named areas is the Halls of All-Knowing, which NetEase specifically describes through its minimalist design.

That aesthetic provides an unusual contrast with the gigantic divine remains surrounding the God Quarry. Marvel cosmic environments can easily become visually overloaded with energy, machinery and impossible architecture, but the Halls appear to approach cosmic knowledge through restraint instead.

The name itself suggests a place where information transcends ordinary archives. Within the context of Season 10, that is particularly interesting because the conflict increasingly revolves around who gets to define the story of gods, mortals and the multiverse itself.

Gorr sees divinity as a lie that keeps mortals dependent. Loki, now transformed into the Chronicler, is recording events rather than manipulating them in his traditional role as the God of Mischief. A location dedicated to “all-knowing” therefore fits neatly into a season concerned with belief, recorded history and the consequences of who controls those narratives.

Confessional Eternity Takes the Opposite Architectural Approach

If the Halls of All-Knowing are deliberately minimal, Confessional Eternity appears designed around brutalism.

NetEase calls it a brutalist sanctuary, immediately establishing another visual language inside the same map. Where the Halls suggest knowledge and abstraction, Confessional Eternity evokes judgment, confession and permanence through heavier architecture.

The contrast should help distinguish the different stages of a Domination match visually, but it also reinforces how much effort the environment team is putting into making individual sections of the God Quarry feel conceptually different rather than simply changing decorative assets around similar combat spaces.

That has become one of Marvel Rivals’ stronger environmental traits. Maps frequently use recognizable Marvel locations as foundations but then exaggerate them through the Chronoverse, creating versions designed to support both a specific seasonal storyline and a six-versus-six hero shooter.

The God Quarry pushes that approach into much more surreal territory.

Loki Has Become The Chronicler

The map reveal also provides one of the most significant developments in the ongoing Season 10 story: Loki has died.

Death in a Marvel multiverse is rarely straightforward, and that remains true here. Rather than disappearing completely, Loki has apparently embraced nihilism and become The Chronicler inside the House of Ideas.

His new purpose is to document every desperate confrontation between the heroes and Gorr, using his own blood to record what happens.

That transformation has already been foreshadowed elsewhere in Season 10. The Godbomb Battle Pass includes a Loki — The Chronicler costume, while the season launch added new Loki lore titled Journey into Mystery. The seasonal Tetrameron event also directly involves assisting the Chronicler with his work.

The God Quarry now provides a physical location for that identity.

It is a dramatic reversal for a character normally associated with deception. Loki has spent much of his Marvel history changing stories through manipulation, illusion and carefully constructed lies. The Chronicler instead records what happens, apparently resigned to watching catastrophe unfold rather than pretending it can be avoided.

The House of Ideas Places the Conflict at the Edge of Reality

The presence of the House of Ideas pushes the map further into Marvel’s metafictional cosmic territory.

Within the reveal, it serves as the place where Loki performs his work as the Chronicler. That immediately distinguishes the God Quarry from more geographically conventional battlefields. Players are not simply entering another kingdom, planet or dimension; they are moving through spaces tied to concepts such as knowledge, eternity, narrative and reality itself.

That scale makes sense given Gorr’s objectives.

Season 10 opens after the God Butcher has already assassinated two deities. His larger campaign is aimed at eliminating divine power across the Chronoverse, and the season’s imagery repeatedly returns to the Godbomb, both as a story element and as the name of the current Battle Pass.

The God Quarry therefore feels less like an optional detour in the season and more like the environment where its themes become explicit.

Gods have died. Their remains surround the battlefield. Loki is documenting what comes next. Gorr is still hunting.

The heroes arrive in the middle of all of it.

Gorr Is Already Reshaping Marvel Rivals’ Story

Season 10 began on September 11 with Gorr the God Butcher joining the playable roster as a Duelist.

His gameplay directly incorporates All-Black the Necrosword and the grotesque consequences of his victories. Gorr can create Black Berserkers from defeated enemies and use the symbiote-derived power of All-Black to move through engagements before commanding those creatures against his opponents. His Ultimate transforms the weapon into the Annihilablade, reinforcing his identity as a character built around aggressive elimination and the conversion of death into additional pressure.

That makes the God Quarry an unusually direct match between character and environment. Gorr is not simply the season’s new hero while an unrelated map arrives alongside him. The entire location exists within the same story, extending his crusade beyond character selection and into the battlefield itself.

Even the seasonal presentation has reflected his arrival. Butcher’s Blasphemy opened with the explicit message that “even the gods can die,” establishing Gorr’s campaign as the central threat before the God Quarry reveal made the consequences physically visible.

The New Map Continues an Increasingly Ambitious Run of Environments

The God Quarry joins a map roster that has expanded dramatically since Marvel Rivals launched.

Recent seasons have brought environments ranging from the living mutant landscapes of Krakoa and Arakko to the symbiote-infested Celestial Husk, the mythological ruins of Thebes and the arena structures of K’un-Lun. Each location has allowed NetEase to use the Chronoverse premise to combine recognizable Marvel ideas with new versions designed specifically around the game’s seasonal narrative.

The God Quarry may be one of the clearest examples of that philosophy so far. Its design is not merely cosmic in the generic sense. Different spaces have distinct architectural identities, enormous dead gods establish the surrounding geography and Loki’s transformation gives the environment a living narrative presence.

For players primarily interested in competitive play, those details will eventually become secondary to routes, sightlines and objective control. But strong visual identity matters in a game where players can spend hundreds of matches rotating through the same environments.

A Domination map still has to work mechanically. It does not have to look like anything else while doing it.

Galacta’s Gift Is Also Returning With the September 24 Update

The God Quarry is not the only addition scheduled around the September 24 update. Season 10’s roadmap also includes the return of Galacta’s Gift, giving players another opportunity to earn a Costume Coin.

The associated Costume Coin exchange selection is also being refreshed, adding another incentive to participate even for players who are less interested in the seasonal lore surrounding Gorr.

Season 10 has been structured as a staggered rollout rather than a single launch-day content dump. Gorr, the Godbomb Battle Pass, the Tetrameron and the first wave of cosmetics arrived with the September 11 launch, while Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking followed on September 17. The God Quarry now represents the next major step before the game begins moving toward Season 10.5 in October.

That mid-season update is expected to continue the larger Path to Doomsday storyline with additional game modes rather than another new playable hero.

The God Butcher Finally Gets His Battlefield

The most effective part of the God Quarry reveal is how thoroughly it commits to the central idea of Season 10.

Gorr wants a universe without gods. NetEase could have represented that conflict through dialogue and cinematics alone, but the God Quarry turns it into somewhere players physically occupy. Divine corpses become landscape. Knowledge becomes architecture. Eternity becomes a sanctuary. Loki dies and returns as a chronicler forced to write down what everyone else is still trying to survive.

That gives the map a purpose beyond expanding the Domination rotation.

Beginning September 24 UTC, every fight inside the God Quarry becomes another small part of the story Loki is supposedly recording in blood. Whether the heroes ultimately alter fate remains a question for the wider Season 10 narrative.

Whether players can hold the objective while staring at the fossilized corpse of a dead god is a considerably more immediate problem.
