Rocket League x One Piece Is Live: Earn Luffy’s Straw Hat and Take the Going Merry Onto the Pitch

The Straw Hat Pirates have traded the open sea for the Rocket League pitch. The Rocket League x One Piece crossover went live on November 1 and runs until November 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. CET. Players can earn Luffy’s Straw Hat, a boost inspired by the crew’s wanted posters and a trail featuring the Going Merry by completing in-game challenges.

The trailer also introduces a separate Item Shop lineup with anime decals, themed wheels and the High Tides Goal Explosion. A second shop drop follows on November 7, when the Mercedes-AMG G 63 arrives with its own One Piece decals. The distinction is useful if you’re after one item in particular: Luffy’s hat comes from scoring goals, while the Mercedes is a shop release.

Luffy’s Straw Hat Takes Three Goals in One Competitive Match

The crossover’s most recognisable reward is Luffy’s Straw Hat Topper, which puts the captain’s signature hat on top of your car. Psyonix’s announcement describes the requirement as an online hat trick, but the live challenge specifies a Competitive match. You need to score three goals yourself in the same match. A team scoring three goals, or a player scoring once across three matches, won’t satisfy the challenge.

The other headline rewards can be earned across multiple games. The Straw Hat Crew Boost requires 56 centres or clears and sends wanted posters streaming behind the car when you boost. The Going Merry Sea Trail asks players to earn 4,117 points in online matches, giving the crew’s ship a place in their loadout.

Free reward How to earn it
Luffy’s Straw Hat Topper Score a hat trick in one Competitive match.
Straw Hat Crew Boost Record 56 centres or clears.
Going Merry Sea Trail Earn 4,117 points across online matches.
One Piece Antenna and two Player Banners Complete the corresponding event challenges.
Up to five Treasure Chests Play online matches and complete the chest challenge.

The hat is the one to prioritise if you’re working through the event: it takes a single three-goal performance. The boost and trail can progress while you play those matches, and the boost gives defensive clears the same value as attacking centres. Players who usually set up goals or cover the back post have a reward that fits how they already play.

Octane and Fennec Get One Piece Decals

The Item Shop takes a different approach, with Luffy and Going Merry designs spread across the Octane and Fennec offerings. The launch lineup includes car bundles listed at 1,100 Credits each, themed wheels at 400 Credits, and the High Tides Goal Explosion at 2,000 Credits.

The Going Merry is represented in several ways. The free trail lets players carry the ship into their existing setup, while the shop adds a Going Merry decal and a goal celebration that brings the ship into the scoring sequence. For anyone who just wants a nod to the crew’s first ship, the trail is the option to work towards through matches.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Arrives on November 7

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 joins the Item Shop six days after the event began. The SUV comes with its own One Piece decals and uses the Merc hitbox, giving players a different body preset from the Octane and Fennec featured in the opening shop lineup.

The November 7 date applies to the Mercedes shop drop. The challenge rewards are already available, so players can work towards the hat, boost and trail while waiting for the SUV. The event closes on November 23 at 6:00 p.m. in mainland Spain, which is the deadline to finish the challenges.
