Settle It on the Streets: Rocket League Season 24 Introduces Honor Duel

A close defeat no longer needs to end with complaints in the post-match screen. Season 24 gives players a direct way to settle unfinished business through Honor Duel, a new feature that can turn an ordinary match into an immediate one-on-one rematch. That competitive addition leads a sizeable update launching on September 23 with Black Market Trade-Ins, three Rocket Pass vehicles, configurable scoreboards, revised mouse-and-keyboard controls and several Limited Time Events.

Built around an underground street-racing atmosphere, the new season places individual skill and personal style at the centre of Rocket League. Season 24 begins at 9 AM PT and runs until December 9, giving players almost three months to complete its Rocket Pass and seasonal challenges.

Honor Duel Turns Rivalries Into Immediate 1v1 Matches

Honor Duel allows a player to challenge another competitor from their current match to a one-on-one confrontation. If the opponent accepts, both players enter the duel as soon as the original match finishes, removing the need to exchange party invitations or organise a private lobby.

Other participants from the original match can choose to spectate, transforming the challenge into a small audience event rather than an isolated rematch. This should be particularly effective when two players have spent an entire game trading goals, demolitions, saves or Quick Chat messages and want an opportunity to determine who performs better without teammates.

The feature gives Rocket League a formal structure for a social behaviour that has existed throughout the game’s history. Players have always requested rematches or invited opponents into private 1v1 games, but Honor Duel integrates that rivalry directly into the match flow.

Its long-term value will depend on how frequently players accept challenges and whether the system can discourage harassment or repeated unwanted invitations. As a voluntary feature, however, it creates a potentially entertaining bridge between regular matchmaking and the more personal pressure of a duel.

Honor Duel will also contribute to Rocket Rivalry, a seasonal creator competition. Players can equip the title of the creator they support and earn points by winning Honor Duels. Those results will help determine which personalities advance towards a planned showmatch in London.

The featured lineup includes JZR, ApparentlyJack, Tenacity, Forky, almost, Firewall154, Twisty and Crnovy, representing different regions and sections of the wider Rocket League community.

Black Market Trade-In Finally Gives Duplicates a Purpose

Season 24 introduces a highly requested extension to the existing Trade-In system. Players will be able to exchange three duplicate Black Market items and receive another Black Market reward.

The returned item will either be completely new to the player’s collection or a painted version they have not previously acquired. This restriction is important because it prevents the system from immediately replacing three duplicates with another identical item.

Duplicate Black Market cosmetics have been a persistent frustration, particularly since player-to-player trading was removed. Lower-rarity items already had a progression path through Trade-Ins, but unwanted Black Market rewards could remain trapped in an inventory without offering any meaningful value.

The new system does not restore direct trading between players, and it requires three duplicate items before providing a replacement. Nevertheless, it creates a practical use for some of the rarest unwanted cosmetics and provides collectors with another route towards missing or painted variants.

Three New Cars Headline the Season 24 Rocket Pass

The Season 24 Rocket Pass contains three new Car Bodies, each assigned to an established hitbox. This gives players three different gameplay profiles instead of presenting the vehicles as purely visual variations.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 uses the Octane hitbox. That makes it the most immediately familiar option for a large portion of the community, combining a road-going hot hatch design with the dimensions used by the game’s most popular competitive body.

The Dominus GT 76 uses the Dominus hitbox, providing the flatter profile commonly preferred for powerful flicks and direct striking. Its name and styling place it firmly within the season’s modified street-machine identity.

The third vehicle, the Pareto 5S, uses the Breakout hitbox. This longer, lower configuration offers another alternative for players who favour precise touches and a more elongated visual body.

Additional Rocket Pass highlights include the Forewarned: Holographic Wheels, Synapse Boost, Vextor Decal, Treadsparks Trail and Anipop Goal Explosion. Players will unlock these and other cosmetics by progressing through the seasonal tiers.

Bullet Ball Brings a Last-Car-Standing Battle

Two Limited Time Events begin alongside Season 24. The first major alternative mode is Bullet Ball, available from September 23 through October 6.

Bullet Ball replaces traditional football with a survival-focused arena battle. A fast homing ball selects one player as its target and demolishes that vehicle on impact unless the driver successfully redirects, freezes or transfers the threat.

A forward dodge parries the ball towards a different player. A precisely timed backflip freezes it temporarily, after which the closest vehicle becomes the next target. Players can also hold the grab command while dodging to seize an opponent; if the current target successfully grabs another competitor, the captured player inherits the incoming attack.

The result is a last-car-standing ruleset built around timing, awareness and opportunistic betrayals. Unlike standard Soccar, scoring is irrelevant. Survival depends on reading the ball’s trajectory while monitoring every opponent attempting to redirect danger elsewhere.

Persona 5 Invades Rocket League on September 25

A separate Persona 5 Limited Time Event runs from September 25 to October 12. Its challenges award a collection of themed cosmetics, including Trickstar Wheels, Morgana’s Token Boost and Trail, a Phantom Thieves of Hearts Universal Decal and a Persona 5 Royal Octane Decal.

Further rewards include the TAKE YOUR HEART Player Title, Joker Topper, Morgana Player Banner, P5R Avatar Border and Treasure Chest. A repeatable challenge also grants 20,000 XP, giving players an additional way to advance their Rocket Pass while the collaboration remains active.

The Item Shop will offer a matching Mona Car Bundle containing the Mona Car Body, Wheels and Decal. Panther and Joker variants will be available for the vehicle, alongside Phantom Thieves of Hearts Wheels and a Goal Explosion.

Run It Up Offers Challenges Across the Entire Season

The longer Run It Up event remains active from September 23 until December 9. It contains 14 new challenges and introduces Nova Collection Drops alongside Sport, Special, Deluxe and Import rewards.

The Nova Collection includes the Ronin GXT Car Body, Laser-Light Goal Explosion, Neural Network Decal, InfoSec Boost and Fissure Trail. Two additional Titles will maintain live counts of a player’s Season 24 victories and MVP awards.

These tracking Titles give sustained objectives more visibility. Instead of representing a completed milestone with a static label, they continue reflecting the player’s performance as the season develops.

Content creators will also distribute redeemable codes throughout Season 24. The resulting Creator Drops can contain items ranging from Sport to Black Market rarity, although availability will depend on the individual creator campaigns.

Scoreboards and MVP Celebrations Become More Personal

The end-of-match podium is being revised to give the match MVP a more prominent celebration. The selected player’s Goal Explosion will activate inside the open goal positioned behind the team, adding further value to one of the game’s most visible cosmetic categories.

Players can also customise the in-game scoreboard by selecting four statistics to display beside the score. Up to four unique tracked stats can be configured for each mode, drawing from almost all the statistics available in the career section of the player profile.

That should make the scoreboard more useful for different playstyles. A dedicated goalkeeper may prioritise saves and clears, while an aggressive player might prefer shots, goals or demolitions. Competitive players can focus on information that helps them evaluate performance instead of relying on the same universal selection in every playlist.

Season 24 also adds exclusive rewards for players finishing inside the Top 100 of the 3v3, 2v2 or 1v1 Soccar leaderboards. Five Titles will distinguish placement bands, beginning with Top 100 and progressing through increasingly prestigious positions to the number-one player.

Mouse and Keyboard Controls Receive a Modernisation Pass

Mouse-and-keyboard users will gain updated default bindings and additional configuration settings. New players will receive the modernised setup automatically, while existing users can test it without being forced to abandon their established controls.

A Free Look Camera is also being introduced, allowing players to direct their view independently whenever necessary. The feature is designed around mouse-and-keyboard input but can also be enabled by controller users who want to experiment with a different camera arrangement.

Because camera awareness is fundamental to rotations, recoveries and defensive positioning, Free Look could become more than a convenience. Its competitive usefulness will depend on how comfortably players can integrate it without sacrificing immediate car control.

Season 24 Rewards Individual Skill Without Abandoning Style

Honor Duel is the defining addition because it creates a new interaction rather than simply rotating playlists or adding cosmetics. It formalises one of Rocket League’s most familiar competitive impulses: challenging the opponent who believes they were the real reason their team won.

Black Market Trade-In addresses a separate inventory problem, while the three Rocket Pass vehicles cover the Octane, Dominus and Breakout hitboxes. Bullet Ball provides the experimental party mode, and the Persona 5 crossover adds a recognisable collaboration shortly after launch.

Together with configurable scoreboards, improved MVP presentations and revised controls, these features make Season 24 broader than its street-racing theme initially suggests. Rocket League Season 24 launches on September 23 at 9 AM PT and runs until December 9.
