Solo Leveling Goes Beyond the Limits With 500 Free Draws and a New Endgame Era
Solo Leveling is celebrating two and a half years by doing considerably more than handing out anniversary currency. The 2.5th Anniversary update, BEYOND, launches on October 22 with up to 500 Special Draw Tickets and 10,000 Essence Stones available through its celebration events, a free SSR Hunter

Solo Leveling is celebrating two and a half years by doing considerably more than handing out anniversary currency. The 2.5th Anniversary update, BEYOND, launches on October 22 with up to 500 Special Draw Tickets and 10,000 Essence Stones available through its celebration events, a free SSR Hunter and Exclusive Weapon selector through the 25THANNIV code, Sung Jinwoo's level cap rising to 170, the new Requiem Job Change, Holy Guardian Barrier Go Gunhee, Successor of the Fangs Velvet and two substantial new endgame activities. Netmarble is presenting the entire package as the beginning of ARISE's next phase rather than another seasonal checkpoint.
The timing supports that ambition. Solo Leveling has now surpassed 70 million cumulative downloads worldwide, according to Netmarble, while the development team has spent recent months openly acknowledging that veteran players have not always felt sufficiently rewarded for the power they accumulated. The anniversary's “Beyond the Limits” tagline is therefore doing double duty. Sung Jinwoo is pushing into the Monarch conflict that represents one of the original story's biggest escalations, while the game around him is adding new reasons to build stronger teams after players have already cleared much of its existing progression ladder.
Five hundred pulls make this one of ARISE’s biggest return points
The easiest number to put on a thumbnail is 500, and Netmarble knows it. The 2.5th Anniversary celebration promises up to 500 dedicated Special Draw Tickets through the anniversary events, alongside as many as 10,000 Essence Stones.
That is an enormous amount of account-building currency for existing players and an even more important incentive for somebody considering returning after months away. ARISE has accumulated a large Hunter roster, alternate versions, Successors, exclusive weapons and increasingly specialised elemental teams. Catching up through ordinary Rate Up banners can therefore become intimidating very quickly. Anniversary giveaways provide an opportunity to rebuild an account's depth rather than simply hand everybody enough currency for a handful of pulls on the newest character.
The wording remains important, however. These are rewards obtained across the anniversary celebration, not 500 tickets deposited instantly into every mailbox when maintenance ends. Players will need to participate in the associated events and meet the relevant conditions to collect the full amount.
Netmarble is also advertising up to 10,000 Essence Stones across the festivities, giving players flexible currency for areas where anniversary-specific tickets do not solve the problem. That combination is much healthier than an event where every reward is locked to one temporary banner.
25THANNIV gives the celebration something much more valuable than random pulls
The most immediately useful reward may actually be the new redemption code:
25THANNIV
Netmarble's anniversary PV advertises it alongside a 2.5th Anniversary Celebration SSR Hunter & Exclusive Weapon Selection Ticket, allowing players to add a guaranteed character-and-weapon combination rather than leaving the entire celebration to gacha probability.
That distinction matters enormously in a game where the difference between “another SSR” and “the SSR my account actually needs” can be several months of investment. A selector can repair a missing elemental team, provide the cornerstone for a newer class composition or finally pair an important Hunter with the weapon necessary to make that build perform properly.
Information shared during the anniversary developer broadcast indicates that the selector covers eligible Buster and Stacker Hunters through Lee Joohee, Pilgrim of the Labyrinth, together with the selected Hunter's Exclusive Weapon. Because the selector itself is being introduced with the new client, players should expect the anniversary code to become usable in conjunction with the October 22 update rather than treating it like an ordinary pre-maintenance coupon.
For anybody returning specifically because of BEYOND, this is the reward to plan around before spending tickets blindly.
The story is finally reaching the Monarchs’ assault
The anniversary also moves the main narrative into Act 18: Attack of the Monarchs, one of the most important turning points in Solo Leveling.
By this stage, Sung Jinwoo is no longer simply a Hunter growing more powerful than everyone around him. The conflict has escalated into a confrontation with beings operating on an entirely different scale, and the anniversary material shows him facing the Monarchs directly as the war behind the Gates becomes impossible to ignore.
The source material's Monarch confrontation represents exactly the kind of story beat ARISE benefits from adapting because it gives the combat designers enemies capable of matching the absurd power escalation already built into the game's progression systems. Fighting another conventional dungeon boss after players have assembled advanced Hunters, high-tier weapons, Cores, Shadows and specialised elemental compositions can only feel threatening for so long.
The Monarchs provide a narrative excuse for the numbers to become ridiculous again.
It also makes the anniversary's progression overhaul feel thematically coherent. Sung Jinwoo is reaching another limit in the story at the same moment players are being given another set of systems designed to push their accounts beyond the previous ceiling.
Requiem pushes Sung Jinwoo from Level 160 to 170
Sung Jinwoo's maximum level increases from 160 to 170, accompanied by a new Job Change called Requiem and a new Ultimate Skill.
Job Changes have historically been some of ARISE's clearest markers of Jinwoo's personal evolution because they alter more than a number on the character screen. They connect progression with his transformation through Solo Leveling's story, providing new visual identity and combat tools alongside the statistical jump.
Requiem arrives at an appropriate moment. By Act 18, Jinwoo's relationship with the Shadow Monarch's power is becoming central to everything happening around him, and Netmarble can begin designing encounters around a player character much closer to the upper reaches of the source material.
The additional ten levels also feed directly into the anniversary's wider message about restoring meaning to account growth. Netmarble has acknowledged that Total Power sometimes became disconnected from how powerful players actually felt inside difficult content. BEYOND is supposed to make growth more legible again: gain power, access harder encounters and feel the advantage when your build exceeds what the activity expects.
Simply raising a cap would not solve that problem by itself. The surrounding systems are what make this particular cap increase more interesting.
Holy Guardian Barrier Go Gunhee gives the Chairman another life
The headline new Hunter is Holy Guardian Barrier Go Gunhee, a Water-element Buster and alternate-world interpretation of the Hunters Association Chairman.
Like other Memorial Hunters, this version comes from a reality altered by the Cup of Reincarnation. Instead of simply recreating the elderly Go Gunhee players already know, Netmarble imagines a younger Chairman who endured tragedy and dedicated that renewed strength to constructing a system capable of protecting other Hunters.
His combat style draws on the Four Divine Beasts: Azure Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger and Vermilion Bird imagery feeds into a martial-arts kit built around protection and physical force. Netmarble has identified him as a Defense-scaling Water Buster, with Meiri Laine and Elena Renault among the Hunters intended to synergise with him.
That makes his arrival relevant beyond character nostalgia. Water gains a new Buster option at a time when ARISE increasingly designs endgame encounters around specialised classes and complete elemental compositions. If players are going to be encouraged to build four-Hunter mono-element teams for new content, holes in individual elemental rosters become considerably more important.
Go Gunhee is therefore both an anniversary character and part of the infrastructure for the new meta.
Velvet continues the Successor system with the Monarch of Fangs
The update's other major playable addition is Successor of the Fangs Velvet, a Fire-element Successor inheriting the power of Adan, the Monarch of Fangs.
Successors have allowed ARISE to explore a progression route distinct from conventional Hunters, inheriting aspects of the Monarchs' power rather than fitting neatly into the game's existing roster structure. Velvet pushes that concept directly into the anniversary's story theme.
Her combat revolves around switching stances, accumulating power through repeated attacks and converting that momentum into enhanced strikes. Rather than treating her inherited ferocity as a single transformation button, Netmarble describes a character whose strength grows as she maintains the rhythm of combat, culminating in an Ultimate designed around the fantasy of an apex predator becoming increasingly dangerous once the fight is underway.
The Fire alignment also matters strategically because Successor resources are becoming less fragmented. The October update consolidates separate Legacy Seals into a common currency, allowing existing resources to be carried more naturally toward future Successor draws instead of remaining permanently tied to individual releases.
Velvet therefore arrives as both a new character and a demonstration of how Netmarble wants the Successor system to function going forward.
Deep Containment Zone finally asks for four Hunters at once
Deep Containment Zone may be the update's most important new mode because it changes the basic team-building assumption. Instead of the standard three-Hunter structure used across much of ARISE, the mode deploys four Hunters simultaneously against modified “Experiment” versions of familiar bosses.
Igris and Kargalgan are scheduled as the initial subjects, but these are not simply larger-health versions of existing encounters. Each Experiment introduces abnormal battlefield conditions including shockwaves, summoned creatures, collapsing areas, gas leaks and random floor hazards. Netmarble wants players thinking about team functions instead of assembling three damage dealers and brute-forcing the timer.
The central new mechanic is Union. Deploy four Hunters sharing the same element, fill the Union gauge and the team can unleash a powerful one-use ability accompanied by additional effects based on the classes represented in the squad.
That creates a meaningful reason to develop roster depth. One enormously invested DPS Hunter cannot provide every role required by a four-character composition, particularly if the season's mechanics reward specific buffs, debuffs or class interactions. Deep Containment Zone is explicitly designed to make players reconsider characters who might otherwise have remained on the bench.
Its initial release is being described as a Beta, giving Netmarble room to adjust difficulty and team requirements after seeing what actual accounts can produce.
Battlefield of Infinity turns every boss into part of the timer
Where Deep Containment Zone is about composition, Battlefield of Infinity is about endurance.
The mode evolves the Infinite Relay Boss Challenge Netmarble previously discussed during its roadmap plans. Players face a continuous sequence of bosses and try to defeat as many as possible before time expires, with separate Sung Jinwoo and Hunter versions available.
Kills determine progression, achievement thresholds and ranking performance. Rewards include Essence Stones, Rate Up Draw Tickets, event materials and Gold, giving the activity a more direct relationship between how far a build can push and what the player earns.
This is precisely the type of mode the developers said ARISE was missing. A player could spend months increasing Total Power but reach a point where there was no activity capable of demonstrating what that investment actually accomplished. An endless boss ladder creates a practically elastic target. Becoming stronger does not merely reduce the clear time on content you already finished; it can move the account another boss deeper into the run.
Whether that remains satisfying will depend heavily on ranking structure and reward distribution. Netmarble has been unusually candid about community frustration surrounding competitive leaderboards, account sharing and cheating, and has said the new ranking philosophy will continue to be adjusted if it does not improve the experience.
But as a pure combat concept, Battlefield of Infinity gives endgame growth a much clearer measuring stick.
Statues create another progression layer after the boss dies
The new Statue system converts major victories into permanent account progression. Defeating powerful Expert enemies such as Igris, Kargalgan and the Monarchs allows players to unlock representations of those achievements and then refine them for additional stats.
Five Statues are planned for the system's initial release, split across progression affecting Sung Jinwoo/Successors and Hunters. Each Statue contains three stat slots that can be refined using dedicated materials, with desirable rolls lockable while players continue improving the remaining slots.
Bringing all three stats to at least B grade unlocks an additional special effect.
Yes, it is another layer of optimisation in a game that already has many of them. But the design at least connects that progression directly to combat accomplishments. A Statue is evidence that the account defeated a specific high-level challenge, and upgrading it turns that victory into power used against whatever comes next.
Materials feed back through activities including Deep Containment Zone and Activity Funds, which connects the new systems instead of leaving each one completely isolated.
The danger is obvious: too many parallel progression currencies can quickly become maintenance rather than meaningful growth. BEYOND will need to prove that Statues create noticeable decisions rather than another collection of mandatory percentage increases.
Seasonal Cards turn the webtoon itself into a collection system
Special Commissions are also being replaced by Seasonal Cards, a collectible system built around scenes from the Solo Leveling webtoon, ARISE characters and monsters.
Players collect cards, complete themed sets and earn rewards including Rate Up Draw Tickets, Essence Stones and Dungeon Keys. Duplicates convert into Card Points that can be exchanged toward additional packs, while Joker Cards can fill gaps in incomplete collections.
This is lighter than the anniversary's new combat systems, but it may be one of the smarter retention additions. Solo Leveling exists because players are attached to the source material, and using recognisable webtoon panels as collectibles gives ordinary daily activity a progression track that is visually tied to that fandom rather than another abstract resource.
It also provides something to work toward on days when a player is not pushing rankings or high-difficulty bosses. Not every anniversary system needs to demand an optimised team.
BEYOND is also rebuilding the systems underneath all this content
The 2.5th Anniversary update includes a wider structural pass that would be easy to overlook beside the free summons. Guilds are being reworked, rankings are becoming seasonal, existing endgame activities are receiving higher difficulty tiers and several underperforming Hunters, weapons, leader skills and Shadows are being rebalanced.
Guild attendance will become more meaningful, Guild Buffs are being redesigned around personal progression and Netmarble has longer-term plans for additional cooperative Guild content through the following months. The ranking overhaul will separate several forms of account and content performance while attempting to group players with comparable activity levels.
Workshop of Brilliant Light, Simulation Gate, Unstable Dungeon, Battlefield of Chaos and Mind Rift are also part of the higher-difficulty expansion, giving established accounts additional places to use the power generated by the new systems.
That broader context is why BEYOND matters more than a normal anniversary festival. Netmarble is not pretending every issue can be solved by giving everyone hundreds of pulls. The studio's own developer notes have repeatedly acknowledged complaints about repetitive endgame, weak progression feedback and distrust around rankings.
October 22 is supposed to begin addressing those complaints rather than simply burying them beneath anniversary rewards.
Seventy million downloads later, ARISE is trying to make progression matter again
Solo Leveling's 2.5th Anniversary BEYOND update launches October 22, 2026. The celebration includes up to 500 Special Draw Tickets and 10,000 Essence Stones, while the 25THANNIV redemption code is being promoted with a 2.5th Anniversary SSR Hunter and Exclusive Weapon Selection Ticket.
Beyond the rewards, Act 18: Attack of the Monarchs advances Sung Jinwoo into one of Solo Leveling's defining conflicts. His cap increases from Level 160 to 170, Requiem becomes his next Job Change and a new Ultimate accompanies that evolution. Holy Guardian Barrier Go Gunhee joins as a Water Buster, Velvet arrives as the Fire-aligned Successor of the Fangs, Deep Containment Zone introduces four-Hunter battles and Union mechanics, Battlefield of Infinity creates an endless boss challenge and Statues and Seasonal Cards add two new long-term progression systems.
Netmarble has now taken Solo Leveling beyond 70 million global downloads. That makes the 2.5-year milestone impressive by itself.
But BEYOND is built around a more difficult question than how many people have downloaded the game.
It is trying to give the ones still playing a reason to keep leveling.
