Street Fighter 6 puts avatars in the spotlight with chaotic new modes and more ways to unlock rewards

Street Fighter 6 continues to increase the importance of custom avatars within its ecosystem, and the upcoming update featuring Ingrid, scheduled for May 28th, will add two new modes specifically designed for those who enjoy creating impossible fighting styles. Capcom has officially unveiled Avatar Random Match and Avatar Arcade Mode, two additions that push even further the idea of turning every player into a unique fighter.

And looking at the setup, the chaos seems completely intentional.

The biggest headline is Avatar Random Match, a mode centered around showdowns using custom characters built from a mix of techniques from different masters. In Street Fighter 6, avatars can combine moves learned from multiple characters, allowing players to create hybrid styles that would never exist within the traditional roster.

That means something pretty dangerous for game balance… and pretty fun for those looking for extreme experimentation.

Capcom seems to be fully embracing this madness, promoting battles where an avatar can assemble attacks inspired by various fighters to create completely unpredictable builds.

However, the most interesting addition might actually be Avatar Arcade Mode.

This new mode will allow players to repeatedly face off against different Masters, strengthening bonds with them and accelerating progression rewards. Among the confirmed benefits is a new route to unlock each master's highly coveted Outfit 2, which is especially important for players focused on completing cosmetic content.

This decision is interesting because it addresses a frequent community critique: some unlocks tied to master affinity could feel a bit too slow for certain types of players. Adding another progression method partially lowers that barrier.

Furthermore, the mode turns training with legendary characters into a more structured and repeatable activity, reinforcing one of Street Fighter 6’s most unique features: the blend of a classic fighting game with near-RPG progression within World Tour.

All of this will arrive alongside additional rewards, avatar level-ups, and more incentives to invest time into custom content.

The community has already begun reacting, particularly to the potential of Avatar Random Match, as it could generate some of the most absurd matchups seen in the game so far. The move-mixing system has always had room for unpredictable configurations, and this new mode seems designed precisely to exploit that.

It is also another clear sign of Capcom’s strategy with Street Fighter 6: constantly expanding the game beyond pure competitive play. While the professional circuit continues to grow, the studio keeps adding content focused on creativity, customization, and less rigid experiences.

With Avatar Random Match and Avatar Arcade Mode, Street Fighter 6 once again reinforces one of its biggest departures from previous installments: here, it’s not just about mastering the classic characters… it’s also about building an impossible fighter and seeing just how much chaos you can cause inside the ring.
