Strinova has launched Veil of Shadows, opening its 26SP4-1 seasonal update with the debut of Nora, a new Scissors Agent who combines reconnaissance, disruptive summons and unusually flexible vertical movement.
Nora enters the roster as a Vanguard, but she is not limited to revealing enemy positions from a safe distance. Her spirit-based abilities are designed to locate opponents, pressure the targets they uncover and create openings that the rest of the attacking team can immediately exploit.
Her companion Cernon is central to that identity. Nora can send a spirit into contested territory to expose enemies before it attacks, while her Ultimate fills the surrounding area with hunting manifestations capable of disrupting entrenched defenders. A passive triple jump then gives Nora the mobility needed to follow that information personally rather than waiting for another Agent to initiate the engagement.
Veil of Shadows is live now, bringing Nora into Strinova alongside a new seasonal progression cycle, limited-time events, updated rewards and another reason for players to reconsider how information should be converted into aggression.
Veil of Shadows makes supernatural reconnaissance its central fantasy
The new season adopts a noticeably more mystical tone than Strinova’s usual combination of advanced technology, multidimensional science and anime-inspired tactical warfare.
Nora is described as a genius sorceress and the heir to an ancient form of spirit summoning. She can call the beings associated with the Dark Strings into the physical world, turning supernatural creatures into practical tools during combat.
That premise gives Veil of Shadows an identity immediately connected to its headline Agent.
The season is not using shadow imagery only as a cosmetic theme. Nora’s entire role revolves around forces that move ahead of her, locate hidden opponents and attack from directions that are difficult to control through conventional gunfire.
Her visual design reinforces that contrast. She carries the equipment expected from a modern tactical operative, but her most important capabilities come from ritual commands, summoned spirits and Cernon rather than drones, grenades or mechanical surveillance devices.
Strinova has always allowed fantasy and technology to coexist. Veil of Shadows pushes that relationship further by introducing a Vanguard whose intelligence-gathering tools feel closer to a curse than a reconnaissance system.
Nora expands The Scissors with information rather than another pure Duelist
Nora joins The Scissors, placing her on the attacking side of Strinova’s standard Demolition structure.
That faction placement is strategically important.
Attackers need information before they commit to a site. Entering a defended area without identifying crossfires, traps and concealed Agents can result in an immediate loss of resources or players. The problem becomes more pronounced in Strinova because defenders can use Stringification, vertical terrain and layered map geometry to occupy angles that would not exist in a conventional tactical shooter.
A Vanguard is expected to reduce that uncertainty.
Nora can identify where resistance is concentrated and help the team decide whether to continue its push, redirect toward another route or commit additional abilities before entering.
However, she is not designed as a passive observer. Her kit combines scouting with what the official update describes as breakthrough capability.
That distinction separates her from a character whose contribution ends when an enemy silhouette appears. Nora’s information is accompanied by direct pressure, allowing her to disrupt the position she has just uncovered and create a window for the attacking formation.
This gives The Scissors another way to begin an engagement without adding yet another Agent whose primary value comes from personal damage output.
Her summoned spirit turns reconnaissance into an immediate threat
Nora’s Active Skill sends a spirit toward a selected area.
Once it reaches the destination, the spirit reveals enemies within its detection range. It can then lock onto a nearby opponent, attack them and apply a stun effect.
That sequence gives the ability three connected functions.
First, it checks an area without requiring Nora or one of her teammates to expose themselves directly. This is valuable when approaching a site entrance, testing an elevated position or confirming whether a defender remains behind cover.
Second, it creates pressure against anyone successfully detected. The revealed player cannot simply remain stationary and wait for the scan to expire because the spirit can transition from reconnaissance into an attack.
Third, the stun creates an opportunity for follow-up damage. A target caught without adequate cover may be vulnerable to Nora’s weapon, a teammate’s ability or a coordinated entry from several Scissors Agents.
The ability therefore turns information into tempo.
A conventional scan may tell the attackers where a defender is standing, but the team must still create a safe method of challenging them. Nora’s spirit begins that challenge automatically by forcing the opponent to move, destroy the threat or accept the risk of being controlled.
Even when the spirit fails to secure meaningful damage, the reaction it produces can still be valuable. A defender who leaves a strong position has already conceded part of the site before the attackers enter.
The spirit can clear uncertainty from Strinova’s most dangerous corners
Strinova’s third-person perspective gives players significant informational control around cover.
An Agent can remain protected behind a wall while using the camera to observe an approach. Stringification adds further possibilities by allowing characters to flatten their bodies, move along surfaces and exploit narrow or elevated routes.
These systems make unverified corners particularly dangerous.
Nora’s Active Skill gives attackers a way to contest that uncertainty without relying exclusively on manual peeking. A summoned spirit can be directed toward the suspected defensive area and force the opponent to reveal their presence.
The value is not limited to finding one isolated player.
A well-positioned scan can identify whether a site is heavily occupied, whether defenders have rotated away or whether the attacking team is walking toward a stacked defense. That information can affect the entire round.
The lock-on attack also makes predictable defensive positions less comfortable. A defender may know that an attacker is approaching but still need to leave cover before Nora’s team has physically crossed the entrance.
This should make the skill especially effective when coordinated with smokes, area-control abilities or fast Duelists. Nora removes part of the uncertainty, another Agent blocks or divides the defenders’ vision and the entry player exploits the resulting confusion.
Cernon transforms Nora’s Ultimate into a stalemate breaker
Nora’s Ultimate, Forbidden Curse! Dark Feast, Commence!, summons multiple manifestations of Cernon to hunt enemies within the surrounding area.
The summoned creatures pursue targets and attack after closing the distance, turning a controlled defensive space into an environment where opponents must manage threats from several directions.
This makes the Ultimate particularly suited to breaking stalemates.
Defenders frequently gain an advantage when attackers hesitate outside a site. The defending team can preserve its crossfires, wait for the round timer to become a problem and force the attackers into a rushed final commitment.
Nora can disrupt that structure by filling the area with autonomous pressure.
The defenders must decide whether to hold their positions, retreat from the affected zone or expose themselves while dealing with the summoned creatures. None of those responses is free.
Remaining in place risks taking damage or being disrupted before the attackers arrive. Moving away can surrender valuable angles. Focusing on Cernon can reduce the attention available for tracking Nora and the rest of her team.
The Ultimate should also have value after the objective has been planted. Nora can use it to complicate a retake, force defenders away from predictable entrances or create enough distraction to prevent a coordinated defuse attempt.
Autonomous pressure can be more valuable than direct damage
The effectiveness of Dark Feast will not depend only on how much damage Cernon inflicts.
Autonomous summons change the number of problems an opponent must solve simultaneously.
A player fighting Nora’s team already needs to track gunfire, abilities, Stringification routes and potential flanks. Cernon adds moving threats that do not require Nora to control every action personally.
That creates cognitive pressure.
An enemy may turn to deal with a summon and expose themselves to a waiting attacker. They may retreat into another part of the site and separate from their support. They may spend a defensive ability that would otherwise have been available for the main engagement.
The Ultimate can therefore generate value without eliminating anyone directly.
Its most important contribution may be forcing the defensive formation to lose coherence. A structured team is difficult to break when every player can maintain their assigned angle. Once multiple autonomous threats begin moving through that structure, defenders are more likely to act individually.
Nora’s team can then attack the gaps created by those separate reactions.
Nora’s triple jump adds a new vertical threat to the roster
Nora’s Passive Skill periodically allows her to perform a triple jump.
This is one of the most distinctive elements of her kit because it changes how she interacts with Strinova’s existing movement systems. Most Agents already have access to Stringification, gliding and wall-based traversal, but an additional mid-air jump creates routes and attack timings that other characters cannot reproduce in the same way.
The passive can help Nora reach elevated positions, change direction during an engagement or appear above an opponent’s expected crosshair placement.
It also supports her Vanguard role.
After the spirit identifies a vulnerable target, Nora can use the extra jump to follow through from an unusual elevation. She is not forced to approach from the same ground-level route that the defender has already prepared to hold.
The movement can also provide defensive value.
A triple jump may allow Nora to escape a close-range threat, cross a dangerous opening with a less predictable trajectory or delay her descent while waiting for a teammate to create cover.
Its strongest applications will depend on individual maps. Small elevation differences, railings, rooftops and ledges that are irrelevant to most Agents may become practical staging points for Nora.
Triple jumping and Stringification create difficult aiming problems
Nora’s mobility becomes more significant when combined with Stringification.
Turning into a two-dimensional form already reduces the target profile and allows players to glide, wall-stick or move through restricted spaces. A triple jump gives Nora another method of disrupting the opponent’s aim before or after entering that state.
She can rise higher than expected, flatten during part of the movement and then return to three-dimensional form from an unusual angle.
This does not make her impossible to hit. The passive is limited by its recharge structure, and jumping in open space can still make her trajectory readable to an experienced opponent.
However, it increases the number of possibilities defenders must consider.
A player holding a conventional head-height angle may need to react to Nora appearing significantly above it. Someone tracking her descent may see that timing extended by another jump. A defender assuming that she cannot reach a particular ledge may discover that the location is part of her entry route.
That movement skill ceiling should give Nora lasting value beyond the novelty of her summons. Players who understand the maps will find better uses for the passive than those treating it only as a way to jump higher during a direct firefight.
A compact automatic weapon supports aggressive follow-up play
Nora enters combat with a compact, high-rate-of-fire primary weapon suited to mobile close- and medium-range engagements.
That weapon profile complements her abilities.
Her spirit reveals and disrupts opponents, but Nora still needs to capitalize on the opening. A weapon capable of rapidly applying pressure allows her to move behind the summon and finish an enemy before they fully recover or reposition.
The trade-off should be range discipline.
A compact automatic weapon is less suited to repeatedly challenging precise long-range positions than a rifle or marksman platform. Nora’s player needs to use the spirit and triple jump to reduce the distance rather than expecting to win every fight through raw weapon statistics.
This reinforces her identity as a breakthrough Vanguard.
She creates the information, disrupts the target and then enters the space her ability has made available. She is not intended to remain permanently behind the team while someone else uses every opening.
At the same time, attacking without support would waste much of her utility. Nora can begin the confrontation, but a coordinated team will gain far more from the reveal and stun than a player attempting to convert every spirit into a solo elimination.
Nora creates a more aggressive alternative to existing reconnaissance Agents
Strinova already contains Agents capable of revealing enemy locations and providing intelligence, with Lawine serving as one of the most familiar examples.
Nora does not need to replace those characters to change team composition.
Her defining difference is the way her information tools transition into aggression. The spirit does not merely locate an opponent. It can lock onto the target and interfere with their ability to hold the position safely.
The Ultimate expands that concept by creating a larger area of autonomous pressure.
This makes Nora attractive for teams that want their reconnaissance Agent to participate directly in the entry rather than primarily providing information from behind the first line.
Other scouting characters may still offer better coverage, different range, more consistent detection or utility that fits a particular map. Nora’s triple jump and compact weapon also require a player comfortable with aggressive movement and close engagements.
The real competition between Agents will depend on cooldowns, reveal duration, counterplay and the reliability of the summoned creatures.
Nora’s release should therefore expand the reconnaissance category rather than reduce it to one obvious selection.
Her arrival could change attack-side compositions in Demolition
Because Nora belongs to The Scissors, her largest competitive impact should appear on the attacking side of Demolition.
A typical attacking formation needs several different functions: information, entry pressure, area control, support and enough direct firepower to convert successful ability usage into eliminations.
Nora can contribute to several of those requirements without fully replacing the specialists responsible for them.
Her Active Skill gathers information and pressures one position. Her Ultimate disrupts a broader area. Her mobility allows her to participate in the entry. Her weapon gives her enough immediate threat to exploit stunned or displaced defenders.
That flexibility can make drafting easier, but it also creates a potential balance concern.
Agents who perform several roles at an acceptable level can become more valuable than characters who excel at only one. If Nora’s reconnaissance is reliable, her control is strong and her personal combat remains competitive, teams may have little reason not to include her.
The deciding factor will be opportunity cost.
Selecting Nora means not selecting another Scissors Agent. Her team must determine whether her mixed toolkit provides more value than a dedicated Duelist, Controller or alternative Vanguard on the chosen map.
Cernon is a mechanical partner rather than a decorative mascot
Nora’s relationship with Cernon is central to both her character presentation and gameplay.
Strinova already uses companions and summoned entities as part of several character identities, but Cernon is integrated directly into Nora’s tactical function. The creature is not present only to strengthen her visual silhouette or provide narrative flavor.
It is the mechanism through which she scouts, attacks and controls space.
That integration makes the partnership easier to understand during gameplay. When Nora calls on Cernon, the player immediately knows that the spirit is connected to her supernatural role rather than being an unrelated tactical device.
It also gives the developers room to expand her characterization.
Nora may be introduced as a gifted practitioner of spirit summoning, but her trailer presents a lighter and more chaotic personality than the phrase “ancient art” might suggest. Her relationship with Cernon can carry humor, conflict and companionship without weakening the tactical seriousness of their abilities.
The result is an Agent who fits Strinova’s wider anime identity while still having a kit that can be read clearly in competitive terms.
Veil of Shadows uses Strinova’s strongest mechanical idea
Strinova’s defining feature remains Stringification: the ability to shift between three-dimensional and paper-like two-dimensional forms.
Every new Agent needs to interact meaningfully with that system.
Nora’s kit appears designed to do so in several ways.
Her spirit can investigate positions occupied by flattened or concealed opponents. Her triple jump expands the routes from which she can enter Stringification or return to normal form. Her Ultimate creates mobile pressure that can make it more difficult for enemies to remain safely attached to one defensive location.
That relationship is more important than simply introducing another powerful ability set.
A new Agent should create situations that feel specific to Strinova rather than reproducing a familiar hero-shooter archetype with different animation effects. Nora’s supernatural reconnaissance becomes distinctive because it operates inside maps where players can flatten, glide and occupy unusual layers of geometry.
Her spirit-summoning fantasy is new, but the tactical questions it creates are firmly connected to the game’s existing identity.
The most important balance question is how much counterplay the spirits allow
Nora’s toolkit combines several effects that are individually powerful in a tactical shooter.
Her Active Skill can provide reconnaissance, damage and control. Her Ultimate can send multiple autonomous threats toward enemies. Her passive adds unique mobility.
The complete package will need clear counterplay.
Opponents must be able to recognize when a spirit is approaching, understand whether it can be destroyed or avoided and identify how long its reveal or control effects will remain active.
The summoned creatures also need reliable but understandable pathfinding. A spirit that becomes trapped on geometry would make Nora inconsistent. One that follows enemies through every obstacle without meaningful limitations could make defensive positioning feel irrelevant.
Visual and audio communication will be equally important.
Players need to know when they have been detected, which direction the threat is approaching from and whether Nora’s Ultimate still controls the surrounding area. Competitive clarity cannot be sacrificed solely to make the supernatural effects more elaborate.
The first weeks of Veil of Shadows will show whether those interactions remain fair once coordinated teams begin building full site executions around Nora.
The seasonal sign-in provides an accessible entry point
Veil of Shadows includes a dedicated sign-in event running from July 23 through August 20.
Players can collect rewards by logging in during the event period, with the announced pool including Memory Sequences, Basestrings and other progression materials.
This gives returning players an immediate route into the season without requiring them to complete demanding competitive objectives from the first day.
Memory Sequences remain particularly relevant because of their connection to Strinova’s cosmetic acquisition systems. Basestrings provide another flexible resource for exchange shops and other reward structures.
A login event does not replace meaningful gameplay progression, but it reduces the cost of re-entering the game during a new season.
For players returning specifically to test Nora, those resources can also support the broader account systems they may have ignored during previous updates.
The Season Event Store gives regular activity a second reward layer
The 26SP4 Season Event Store is also receiving new supplies.
Players can complete seasonal activities to obtain the relevant event currency and exchange it for rewards, including Memory Sequences and limited customization items.
This structure gives routine participation additional value.
A daily or weekly objective can contribute to its original event track while also advancing the player toward a separate store purchase. The player then has more control over which rewards they prioritize instead of receiving every item through one fixed linear progression.
The system works best when the currency remains available through several activities. Players focused on Ranked, casual modes or limited-time events should all have practical ways to participate without being forced into one narrow playlist.
The seasonal reset creates urgency, however. Unspent event currency and unclaimed rewards may not carry forward indefinitely, so players need to review the store before the season ends rather than assuming every resource will remain available later.
Water Balloon Battle provides a lighter counterpoint to the shadow theme
The wider seasonal update also introduces a limited-time Water Balloon Battle activity.
Its structure shifts the focus away from Strinova’s normal tactical intensity. Players collect items from the environment to earn points while avoiding incoming water-balloon attacks.
The mode gives Veil of Shadows a deliberately lighter secondary activity.
Nora’s spirit-summoning presentation and the season’s darker imagery provide the main competitive fantasy, while the water-balloon event offers a lower-pressure space built around movement, item collection and playful disruption.
That contrast is useful in a live-service shooter.
Not every seasonal activity needs to reinforce Ranked play or demand the same mechanical precision as Demolition. Casual modes can encourage players to experiment with movement, complete event milestones and spend time with the roster without treating every mistake as a lost round.
It also gives Nora’s unusual mobility another environment in which to be tested. A triple jump should be valuable when navigating toward collectibles or avoiding projectiles, even when the mode’s objectives are very different from a site attack.
Veil of Shadows needs Nora to remain interesting after the launch period
New Agent releases naturally produce an initial surge of attention.
Players want to test the abilities, learn the movement routes and determine whether the character is strong enough for competitive compositions. That interest can fade quickly when the kit lacks depth or becomes dependent on one overpowered interaction.
Nora has several systems capable of sustaining longer-term experimentation.
Spirit placement requires map knowledge. The triple jump creates movement routes that may take weeks to identify. Dark Feast can be combined with different team abilities depending on the site, objective and opponent composition.
The question is whether those systems remain rewarding once players understand the obvious combinations.
A healthy Nora should provide reliable value without allowing one summoned spirit to determine every engagement automatically. Her player should need to select the correct area, time the follow-up and use the mobility intelligently.
The opponent should similarly be able to learn the audio cues, pathing and limitations of Cernon rather than feeling helpless whenever the abilities are activated.
Nora gives Strinova a Vanguard who attacks through uncertainty
The 26SP4-1 gameplay trailer presents Veil of Shadows as Nora’s season, and her kit justifies that position.
She adds a new form of reconnaissance to The Scissors, but the information is only the beginning of her contribution. Her spirit exposes enemies and attacks the position it has uncovered. Cernon’s manifestations create wider pressure through the Ultimate. Her triple jump then allows Nora to follow from elevations and trajectories that defenders may not be prepared to track.
That creates a clear tactical identity.
Nora does not simply reveal the path ahead. She makes that path harder for the enemy to hold.
The effectiveness of the design will depend on cooldowns, counterplay and the reliability of her summons, particularly in coordinated Demolition matches. A Vanguard combining information, control and mobility can become oppressive when any one part of the kit is too consistent.
For now, Veil of Shadows has introduced an Agent whose supernatural theme is directly connected to Strinova’s competitive systems.
Nora has brought the spirits into the battlefield. The Scissors now need to prove they can turn what those spirits uncover into victory.
