Trackmania teams up with Sanofi to turn speed into a tool for diabetes awareness

While collaborations between brands and video games usually focus on cosmetics or standard promotions, Trackmania has opted for a much more unusual approach. Ubisoft Nadeo and the pharmaceutical company Sanofi have launched Racing for Diabetes, a limited-time event running from June 7 to June 14 that aims to give players a glimpse into some of the daily challenges faced by people living with diabetes through custom-designed tracks built to mirror those experiences

The initiative is available for free to all players and unfolds across a special series of five Weekly Shorts, each focusing on a different aspect of managing the condition daily.

Five tracks that simulate the reality of living with diabetes

Far from just slapping in-game advertising onto billboard assets, the event leverages Trackmania’s core driving mechanics to represent real-world scenarios.

The journey kicks off with Understanding Diabetes, a track that symbolizes blood glucose fluctuations through sudden accelerations and braking tied to factors like diet, stress, exercise, and rest.

Following that, players will face:

  • Staying on Track, where visual effects and control layout shifts represent the impact of fatigue and high blood sugar levels.
  • Every Day is Different, a track centered heavily on constant decision-making.
  • Decisions Under Pressure, Designed around split-second reactions and immediate adaptation.
  • Balance the Curve, a circuit that visually replicates a complete daily glycemic curve.

According to Ubisoft, the goal is for players to grasp fundamental concepts related to diabetes management while competing in classic, high-intensity Trackmania challenges.

An exclusive reward for conquering the challenge

In addition to the educational tracks, participants can unlock an exclusive car skin inspired by the collaboration.

The design can be claimed directly from the official event club within the game and will only be available during the promotional window.

A collaboration sparking community debate

While the educational intent of the project has been warmly received by a portion of the player base, the choice of Sanofi as a partner has also sparked discussions within the Trackmania community. Social media platforms and specialized forums have seen debates surface regarding the historical role of major pharmaceutical companies within the insulin market, particularly in the United States.

It is worth noting that these critiques stem strictly from user opinions and are not part of the event's official messaging. The collaboration presented by Ubisoft and Sanofi focuses exclusively on diabetes awareness and gamified health education.

Trackmania continues to explore new ways to connect

Racing for Diabetes proves once again the sheer flexibility of Trackmania’s live-service model.

Over the last few years, the game has utilized its robust creation tools to host professional esports tournaments, community campaigns, charity events, and diverse brand partnerships. This time around, the ultimate goal isn't breaking world records or climbing global leaderboards.

It's about better understanding a medical condition that affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

And doing so through something as fundamental as staying on track.
