High-octane chases, new premium vehicles, and anime heroines take center stage in War Thunder's latest chapter

While War Thunder continues to expand its catalog of historical vehicles and military content, Gaijin Entertainment keeps developing one of its most peculiar original collaborations. The studio has unveiled "Cold Pursuit," the second episode of the Senrai Maidens series—a storyline that blends cinematic action, an anime aesthetic, and some of the most advanced main battle tanks in the game.

In this new installment, agents Emily, Ling, and Usagi must stop a private military organization threatening global stability and prevent a runaway train from plummeting off a cliff. The narrative serves as the backdrop for the arrival of three new premium bundles inspired by the protagonists.

Three new premium tanks inspired by the Senrai Maidens

The update introduces three themed bundles focusing on different nations and playstyles.

The reserved Emily arrives alongside a customized British Challenger 2 OES, a variant tailored specifically for players who prefer resilient vehicles capable of holding defensive positions during long engagements.

On the other hand, Ling becomes the representative of the Chinese tech tree with a personalized MBT-2000, a main battle tank designed to capitalize on mobility and quick reaction times on the battlefield.

The third addition is Usagi, who joins the game with a modified Japanese Type 90 (B). This is one of the most interesting vehicles in the batch thanks to its famous four-second autoloader, a feature that allows it to maintain a higher rate of fire than many contemporary tanks.

Exclusive voiceovers arrive for the entire collection

One of the standout features of this update is the addition of customized crew voices.

Each Senrai Maidens vehicle now features exclusive voice lines tied to its respective protagonist—a feature that has also been retroactively applied to previous bundles in the collection. Players can easily toggle these voices on or off via the settings menu at any time.

This upgrade aims to strengthen the identity of these bundles, setting them even further apart from traditional premium vehicles.

A growing collection within War Thunder

The Senrai Maidens are not a brand-new addition to the game.

The initiative kicked off months ago with characters like Kate and Elsa, whose popularity was massive enough to spark official fan art contests organized by Gaijin. The community's response was so overwhelmingly positive that the studio ended up expanding the original number of planned winners.

With the arrival of Emily, Ling, and Usagi, the collection now boasts six main bundles, cementing itself as one of the game's most recognizable cosmetic lines.

Special rewards for dedicated collectors

Gaijin has also prepared several exclusive rewards for players who complete the collection.

Players who purchase all three new bundles will automatically receive a special reward related to Usagi while those who own all six Senrai Maidens bundles will unlock additional content tied to the story's mysterious antagonist.

Furthermore, the studio has distributed several free promotional items related to the main characters to boost community engagement.

A distinct flavor within a military simulator

The existence of Senrai Maidens remains a fascinating curiosity within a game primarily known for its historical and military realism.

However, Gaijin has made it clear that these bundles are entirely optional. The fictional camouflages can be hidden using the game's customization filters for players who prefer to keep their visual experience grounded in historical accuracy.

This balance between military authenticity and alternative content has allowed War Thunder to appeal to vastly different audiences without losing its core identity.

Looking at the steady expansion of the Senrai Maidens project, it is clear that the adventures of Emily, Ling, and Usagi are far from over.

Because while historical conflicts continue to rage on the battlefields of War Thunder, these heroines have carved out their very own place in the war. More information here.
