Operation Detachment revives iconic historical battles in February's Pages of History

02/02/2026 - 11:20

February places you directly at the centre of some of the 20th century’s most decisive conflicts with a new edition of Pages of History, this time dedicated to Operation Detachment. Throughout the month, you’ll have the chance to fight in scenarios inspired by Iwo Jima, Narva, Laos, and Iraq, utilizing historical vehicles tied to these theatres of warwhile unlocking special rewards along the way.

From February 1st to the 28th, the event features 8 consecutive tasks that will test your consistency and skill. Each completed challenge grants a trophy with a reward, while finishing the entire path unlocks a unique profile background, reserved only for those who see it through to the end. Progress is tiered, making every victory one step closer to the final prize.

The historical core of the event revolves around Operation Detachment, the codename for the American amphibious to capture Iwo Jima. On February 19th, 1945, American forces hit the beaches under intense Japanese fire. Days later, on February 23rd, the capture of Mount Suribachi led to one of the most iconic images in military history: the raising of the American flag. Finally, on March 26th, the island was brought under American control after weeks of brutal combat.

With this event, War Thunder once again blends gameplay with historical context, inviting you to relive key battles while unlocking unique rewards. The question is inevitable: are you ready to write your own page of history this February? More information here.
