Relive D-Day and some of the most decisive battles of World War II in the new War Thunder historical event

Few military operations have left such a deep mark on modern history as theNormandy landings. More than eight decades after the famous D-Day, War Thunder once again shines the spotlight on one of the most important moments of World War II with a new edition of 'Pages of History', the monthly event that invites players to recreate real conflicts using vehicles linked to each clash.
Throughout the entire month of June, players will be able to participate in a series of challenges inspired by historical events spanning various war fronts, from the beaches of Normandy to the fighting in Karelia, Libya, or Lithuania. The initiative is part of one of War Thunder's most established traditions, where Gaijin Entertainment uses themed events to combine progression, exclusive rewards, and historical outreach.
The central focus of this edition is, without a doubt, the Allied landings of June 6, 1944, one of the largest amphibious operations ever executed. Known as Operation Overlord, the offensive brought together more than 150,000 Allied soldiers who landed on Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches, marking the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe occupied by Nazi Germany.
Gaijin has chosen precisely this episode as the main image for the event. Participants will be able to unlock an exclusive profile background called 'Landing Zone: Normandy', a reward that pays tribute to the soldiers who took part in an operation considered by many historians to be the beginning of the end for the Third Reich.
The official description also recalls the massive defensive effort deployed by Germany prior to the invasion. The so-called Atlantic Wall included fortifications, coastal batteries, anti-tank obstacles, minefields, and kilometers of defenses intended to prevent any Allied landing. However, by the end of June 6, all five beaches had been secured, and the invading forces had established a beachhead that would change the course of the war.
From a gameplay perspective, the event will run between June 1 and June 30 and will consist of eight consecutive tasks. Each one will grant a trophy with varied rewards, while completing all objectives will allow players to obtain the exclusive profile background. As is customary in Pages of History, many missions will be linked to vehicles and nations directly related to the events depicted.
This format has become one of the most appreciated features by the community. Unlike other events focused exclusively on rewards, Pages of History seeks to recreate the context of real battles and encourage players to use historical vehicles in scenarios inspired by specific conflicts.
The choice of June is no coincidence either. Every year, the anniversary of D-Day generates a large amount of special content in historical games, museums, and commemorative events around the world. War Thunder usually takes advantage of these dates to pay tribute to key episodes of World War II through events that combine entertainment and historical memory.
Furthermore, the timing is especially appropriate for a game whose main strength remains its massive catalog of authentic military vehicles. With more than two thousand ground, naval, and aircraft vehicles recreated with a high level of detail, War Thunder has the ideal foundation to represent historical campaigns from different eras.
The new Pages of History will not only allow players to obtain exclusive rewards. They also offer an opportunity to revisit some of the most decisive episodes of the 20th century from the perspective of the vehicles that participated in them.
And few dates hold as much historical weight as that morning of June 6, 1944, when thousands of soldiers crossed the English Channel to launch an operation that would change the fate of Europe forever. More information here.
