The Legless Ace stars in March’s Pages of History in War Thunder

Military history comes to life once again in War Thunder with the March edition of Pages of History, a monthly event that transports players to some of the most decisive theaters of World War II.

Throughout the entire month, from March 1st to March 31st, you can take part in eight consecutive tasksset in historical fronts such as Rzhev, Vienna, the Rhine, or the Euphrates. Each completed challenge awards a trophy with rewards, and those who manage to clear all eight tasks will also receive an exclusive profile icon, specially designed for this edition.

This month’s protagonist is Douglas Bader, famously known as "The Legless Ace." A pilot for the British Royal Air Force, Bader lost both legs in a 1931 flying accident, which led to his discharge from service. However, with the outbreak of war, he returned to the cockpit and played an active role in the Battle of Britain, becoming one of the conflict's most prominent aces.

On August 9th, 1941, he was shot down over France; while bailing out, he lost one of his prosthetic legs. In an extraordinary gesture of chivalry, German forces allowed British planes to paradrop a replacement prosthetic. Over the course of his career, Bader amassed at least 20 confirmed aerial victories, cementing his place in military aviation history.
