Ding dong. Sensha-Dō is back in session. Girls und Panzer is returning to World of Tanks on October 15, and this time Oarai Girls' High School is bringing one of its most mechanically obsessed crews with it: Team-Leoponsan, commanded by Nakajima and accompanied by a new Tiger (P) Leoponsan heavy tank.
The latest collaboration does considerably more than add another anime-themed skin. Nakajima, Suzuki, Hoshino and Tsuchiya are joining World of Tanks as a complete four-member German crew, with dynamic conversations when deployed together, while their Porsche Tiger-inspired vehicle arrives as a new Tier VI heavy equipped with an unusual Improved Mobility System. Two new Team-Leoponsan 2D styles, decals, emblems, missions and a GuP Token event store complete an event running from October 15 through October 22, 2026.
For a team made up of Oarai's automotive club, giving their famously troublesome Tiger (P) a button that makes it move faster is almost suspiciously appropriate.
Team-Leoponsan finally joins Oarai's growing World of Tanks roster
World of Tanks has been gradually expanding its Girls und Panzer representation rather than attempting to add every school and crew at once.
Previous collaborations brought Miho Nishizumi and Team-Ankou aboard the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H Ankou, followed by Jatkosota and Kuromorimine vehicles, St. Gloriana, Saunders and, earlier in 2026, Oarai's history-obsessed Team-Kabasan with its StuG III Ausf. F.
Team-Leoponsan therefore fills another conspicuous gap in Oarai's lineup.
The four-person crew consists of Nakajima as Commander and Radio Operator, Hoshino as Gunner, Suzuki as Loader and Tsuchiya as Driver. Those are the same roles associated with the team in the anime, where the four students belong to Oarai's automotive club and operate the Porsche Tiger. The official Girls und Panzer site continues to identify all four characters as members of the Leopon automotive team.
World of Tanks preserves that structure rather than simply turning Nakajima into another standalone crossover commander.
Putting all four girls together unlocks their team conversations
Nakajima receives her own unique Commander voiceover, but the more interesting feature requires the full crew.
Assign Nakajima, Suzuki, Hoshino and Tsuchiya to the same German vehicle and they unlock dynamic team dialogue during battle. The characters can respond to one another as events unfold rather than reducing the collaboration to a single announcer replacing the standard commander voice.
There are restrictions. All four characters have locked major qualifications, so their crew roles cannot be changed or retrained, and they are restricted to German vehicles. That makes the obvious home for them their own Tiger (P) Leoponsan, although players can move them to other compatible German machines under those limitations.
Wargaming is once again supporting the Japanese dialogue through the official Girls und Panzer Subtitles Mod, which adds English subtitles and character portraits to the voiceovers.
That system has become one of the strongest parts of the recurring collaboration. Girls und Panzer is fundamentally a series about teams rather than isolated tank commanders, so preserving the chatter between crew members captures much more of its identity than simply putting character artwork on a vehicle.
Nakajima is exactly the commander you would expect for this tank
Team-Leoponsan has always occupied a distinctive position within Oarai.
These are not simply students who happen to operate a tank. They are the school's automotive club, and their characterisation revolves heavily around machinery, driving and motorsport.
The official Girls und Panzer profile describes Nakajima as Team-Leoponsan's commander and radio operator aboard the Porsche Tiger and specifically notes her love of rallying. Hoshino is the team's gunner but is also described as an exceptionally talented driver, while Tsuchiya is the actual Tiger driver and explicitly loves drifting. Suzuki, meanwhile, serves as Loader and dreams of owning a professional Sensha-Dō team.
Wargaming leans directly into those personalities.
Nakajima is presented as the relaxed commander who stays calm in combat. Hoshino combines gunnery with her reputation behind the wheel. Suzuki handles the ammunition, while Wargaming's description of Tsuchiya essentially admits that telling her not to drift is unlikely to achieve anything.
That automotive obsession makes the new vehicle mechanic especially fitting.
The Tiger (P) Leoponsan is not just a renamed tech-tree Tiger
The main mechanical addition is the Tiger (P) Leoponsan, a new Tier VI German heavy tank.
Wargaming describes it as a close-range brawler and, crucially, equips it with an Improved Mobility System that can temporarily boost its mobility and help it accelerate rapidly toward its maximum speed. It also comes with an exclusive built-in visual style representing Team-Leoponsan.
That immediately separates it from the usual approach to licensed crossover tanks.
Instead of taking an existing World of Tanks vehicle and changing only its visual presentation, Wargaming has given the Leoponsan machine a gameplay hook connected directly to the crew's personality. Team-Leoponsan likes speed, engines and pushing machinery harder than it probably ought to be pushed; their Tiger gets a system specifically designed to make a heavy tank surge forward.
The precise competitive value will depend on its final statistics, armour layout, gun characteristics and how aggressively players can exploit the mobility boost. Wargaming's current promotional page confirms the mechanic but does not expose every numerical parameter cleanly in its public text version, so treating it as automatically stronger than other Tier VI heavies would be premature.
What is already clear is that it is designed to behave differently.
That mobility mechanic is also a very good joke for anyone who knows the anime
The real joke is the vehicle itself.
Team-Leoponsan does not drive an ordinary Tiger I. Its vehicle is the Porsche-designed VK 45.01(P), commonly known as the Porsche Tiger or Tiger (P), the unsuccessful competitor to the Henschel design that became the production Tiger I.
The official Girls und Panzer technical archive describes the machine's unusual drivetrain in considerable detail. Two air-cooled petrol engines generated electricity that then powered electric motors, producing what the series itself describes as a hybrid-style propulsion system. The Oarai specification is listed at 57 tonnes, with an 88 mm KwK 36 main gun and a road speed of 35 km/h.
Historically, Porsche's design lost the Tiger competition and did not enter mass production in the intended form, although hulls already manufactured for the programme were subsequently used for the Ferdinand/Elefant tank destroyer.
Girls und Panzer turns the machine's mechanical eccentricity into part of Team-Leoponsan's identity. The automotive club is exactly the sort of crew capable of keeping an awkward prototype running.
Now World of Tanks gives that same prototype an active mobility-enhancement system.
It is difficult to imagine a more appropriate crew to receive a heavy tank with what is effectively a temporary go-faster button.
The collaboration continues World of Tanks' shift toward increasingly faithful GuP vehicles
The earliest World of Tanks x Girls und Panzer content was naturally dominated by Team-Ankou and its Panzer IV, the most recognisable combination from the anime.
The crossover has become much broader since then.
The 2024 return expanded the playable selection with the BT-42 Jatkosota HS and Tiger II Kuromorimine, complete with their corresponding crews and dynamic Japanese dialogue. St. Gloriana followed in 2025 with the Churchill and Centurion, while Saunders later entered with the Sherman Firefly. Team-Kabasan then brought its StuG III Ausf. F into the game in March 2026.
The October 2026 event brings those earlier vehicles back into the same collaboration alongside the new Tiger (P) Leoponsan.
That means the current Girls und Panzer lineup now stretches across Oarai, St. Gloriana, Saunders, Kuromorimine and Jatkosota, with several of the anime's most recognisable tanks represented as distinct World of Tanks vehicles rather than generic skins.
Team-Leoponsan consequently feels less like an isolated guest appearance and more like another piece of a collection Wargaming has been deliberately building over several years.
Two new 2D styles extend Leopon's identity beyond the Tiger
The new tank is not the only Team-Leoponsan cosmetic addition.
Wargaming is releasing two new all-season Team-Leoponsan 2D styles that can be applied to other vehicles, allowing players to carry the team's visual identity beyond its dedicated Tiger. New Nakajima and Leopon-themed customisation elements accompany them, including decals and the team's distinctive mascot emblem.
The adjustable Oarai 2D style also returns.
That older style lets players combine different paints, school-team emblems and inscriptions, with options including the familiar Anglerfish, Turtle, Duck, Hippo, Rabbit and other Oarai symbols alongside the classic “Panzer Vor!” inscription.
Additional 2D styles representing Team-Kabasan, St. Gloriana, Saunders, Kuromorimine and Jatkosota are returning as well.
The result is an event that increasingly resembles a miniature Girls und Panzer customisation ecosystem rather than a single premium-tank sale.
The GuP Token system gives players something to earn without buying the entire collaboration
There is also a playable event structure surrounding the crossover.
During the event, players can complete special Random Battle missions using Tier IV or higher vehicles to collect GuP Tokens. Wargaming currently lists a repeatable damage task awarding three tokens, a daily five-kill objective worth 15 tokens and a one-time 18,000 base XP objective awarding 85 tokens.
Those tokens can then be spent in the Girls und Panzer Event Store.
One of the most notable rewards is Commander Nakajima with Brothers in Arms as a zero perk for 150 GuP Tokens. Returning commanders including Miho Nishizumi, Erwin, Darjeeling, Alice Shimada, Kei, Erika Itsumi and Mika are also listed at the same token cost.
The store additionally includes the Leopon 2D style for 50 tokens, character decals for 10 tokens and Leopon emblems for eight.
That distinction is important because the collaboration is not exclusively built around paid bundles. Players who mainly want a commander, style or collection of smaller cosmetics have a progression route through normal battles.
Almost the entire modern Girls und Panzer collaboration is returning with them
Team-Leoponsan may be the new attraction, but Wargaming is using the event as another opportunity to reopen much of the existing crossover catalogue.
The returning vehicle selection includes the Pz.Kpfw. IV Ausf. H Ankou, StuG III Ausf. F Kabasan, Churchill St. Gloriana, Centurion St. Gloriana, Sherman Firefly Saunders, Tiger II Kuromorimine and BT-42 Jatkosota HS alongside the new Tiger (P) Leoponsan.
That makes the October event particularly relevant for players who skipped one of the earlier collaborations.
It also demonstrates how large the World of Tanks side of Girls und Panzer has become. What began with the obvious Miho-and-Panzer-IV combination now covers multiple schools, national tech trees, vehicle classes and crew configurations.
Team-Leoponsan expands Oarai specifically, joining Team-Ankou and Team-Kabasan as another complete school crew represented with its own signature vehicle.
There are still plenty of Girls und Panzer teams that could be added in the future, but Oarai is starting to look considerably more like Oarai.
The timing puts Girls und Panzer into an unusually busy October for World of Tanks
The collaboration begins October 15 at 11:00 CEST on the European server and ends October 22 at 11:00 CEST, with corresponding regional schedules for North America and Asia.
It is arriving during an already crowded month.
World of Tanks' October schedule also includes Update 2.4.1 and the Halloween Babylon: Dark Tower event, alongside competitive activities and other specials. Wargaming's monthly overview specifically listed Girls und Panzer among October's headline promotions before the full Team-Leoponsan reveal was published.
That makes the GuP event comparatively compact at one week.
Players interested in the collaboration therefore have a fairly narrow window to complete its missions, collect tokens and decide which returning content they want before the event rotates out again.
Team-Leoponsan may be one of the most natural World of Tanks crossovers yet
There has always been an obvious compatibility between Girls und Panzer and World of Tanks. Both revolve around recognisable armoured vehicles, and Wargaming can reproduce much of the anime's identity without forcing unrelated mechanics into the game.
Team-Leoponsan takes that compatibility a little further.
Nakajima, Suzuki, Hoshino and Tsuchiya are mechanics and petrolheads before they are conventional soldiers. Their signature vehicle is an eccentric Porsche heavy-tank prototype with an unusual drivetrain. Their driver likes drifting, their commander likes rallying and the entire team's personality revolves around making machinery perform.
World of Tanks has responded by giving them a Tiger (P) with an active mobility-enhancement system.
That is more interesting than simply painting an existing tank in Oarai colours. It takes something recognisable about the characters and converts it into gameplay without losing the fundamental identity of World of Tanks.
Team-Leoponsan, the Tiger (P) Leoponsan and the wider Girls und Panzer event arrive in World of Tanks on October 15, 2026. The collaboration runs until October 22 and brings the four-member Oarai crew, dynamic team dialogue, the new Tier VI heavy, GuP Token missions, two new Leopon styles and a large selection of returning Girls und Panzer vehicles and cosmetics.
Panzer vor — just don't tell Tsuchiya to stop drifting.
