World of Tanks is heading into the jungle with Battle Pass Special: Far Cry, a limited-time crossover with Ubisoft’s shooter series running from July 16 to July 27. The event adds a dedicated Battle Pass Special Chapter inspired by the lawless spirit of Far Cry, with five franchise characters, themed customization rewards, special missions, Twitch Drops and the brand-new M-VII-Y, an American Tier IX Premium heavy tank dressed in the exclusive Twisting Paths 3D style.

Far Cry turns World of Tanks into a hostile island battleground

The central idea behind Battle Pass Special: Far Cry is simple: take the chaos, survival pressure and tropical brutality associated with Far Cry, then translate it into World of Tanks’ armored battlefield. Wargaming is not presenting this as a small cosmetic store rotation. It is a full Battle Pass Special Chapter with 40 stages, themed rewards and a new tank as its main prize.

The crossover leans heavily into the most recognizable parts of Ubisoft’s franchise. Jack Carver and Dr. George Krieger are available through Chapter Progression, while Jason Brody, Citra Talugmai and Pagan Min appear through special bundles. Each crew member comes with a unique voiceover, which is a relevant detail for collectors because it gives the crossover more presence inside actual battles rather than limiting it to static portraits or decals.

That character selection is also broader than expected. Instead of focusing only on Far Cry 3, the event pulls from different parts of the series’ history. Jack Carver and Dr. Krieger connect the collaboration to the original Far Cry, Jason Brody and Citra represent the island nightmare of Far Cry 3, and Pagan Min brings in the flamboyant brutality of Far Cry 4. The result is a crossover that treats Far Cry as a franchise legacy event rather than a single-game promotion.

The tone is deliberately hostile: survival, distrust, jungle customizations and the sense that every reward has been dragged out of a dangerous island. That fits the collaboration better than a clean military crossover would have. Far Cry has always been about places where order collapses and the player is forced to adapt. In World of Tanks, that fantasy becomes a themed progression track built around armored survival.

M-VII-Y becomes the event’s main prize

The headline reward is the M-VII-Y, a new Tier IX American Premium heavy tank available through Chapter Progression. Wargaming describes it as a rugged machine built to endure hostile terrain, and the vehicle comes with the exclusive Twisting Paths 3D style.

The style is doing a lot of the thematic work here. It is not just jungle camouflage slapped onto a tank. The Twisting Paths design uses palm leaves, improvised details, tribal markings and a gun inspired by Citra’s knife, with a blade-like shape and carved patterns. It is a direct attempt to make the tank look as if it has been shaped by the island rather than merely deployed there.

That matters because premium tanks in events like this live or die on two levels: gameplay value and presentation value. Wargaming has not framed the M-VII-Y as a simple novelty vehicle. It is the final reward of the improved track, packaged with a crew and Garage slot, and clearly positioned as the centerpiece of the chapter. Whether players value it long-term will depend on its battlefield performance, but as an event object it has a strong visual identity.

The 3D style also reflects the wider Far Cry mood. Details such as machete references, green barrels, bamboo, harpoon-inspired elements, “Dead Weight” imagery and memento-style equipment reinforce the idea of a tank that has passed through a brutal island transformation. It is exaggerated, but that is the point. This is Far Cry crossing into World of Tanks, not a historically restrained armor package.

Context and current situation

The event arrives as part of Wargaming’s ongoing use of special Battle Pass chapters to bring external IPs into World of Tanks. These collaborations are designed to create short, focused progression windows where players can earn thematic rewards outside the standard seasonal structure.

In this case, the format is familiar but the theme is strong. Players progress through 40 Chapter Stages across Base and Improved Reward tracks, earning Far Cry-inspired decals, inscriptions, 2D styles, crew members, Personal Reserves, bonds, credits, WoT Premium Account days and other useful items. The three major 2D styles are Trouble in Paradise, Tatau and Jungle Fever, each connected to different parts of the Far Cry visual identity.

There are also paid event bundles built around character recruitment and extra missions. The Tyrant bundle includes Pagan Min and mission rewards such as Experimental Equipment components, credit reserves and x5 XP missions. Hard Choices includes Jason Brody and Citra Talugmai, with missions that can reward bonds, training materials and additional x5 XP missions.

Wargaming is also supporting the event with special missions and Twitch Drops. The mission chains include free offers such as the Dead Weight decal and Boomer inscription, while participating content creators will offer Drops with Far Cry-themed decals, reserves and consumables. That gives players more than one route into the event, even if they are not pushing hard through the full Improved track.

What it means for players

For active World of Tanks players, the key priority is deciding how far to push the chapter before July 27. The M-VII-Y is the obvious target, but reaching it requires commitment to the event’s progression structure. Players who only want free cosmetics or smaller rewards should still check the missions and Twitch Drops, because there are several themed items available outside the main premium chase.

For collectors, this is a high-value crossover. The combination of five voiced Far Cry crew members, three 2D styles, decals, inscriptions, a 3D-styled premium tank and special bundles gives the event more depth than a single branded vehicle drop. The strongest appeal is likely to be for players who enjoy franchise-themed crews and garage identity as much as pure vehicle performance.

For players mainly focused on efficiency, the value calculation is more practical. The Improved Reward track contains the biggest prize, but players should weigh the time window, their current Battle Pass progress habits and whether they actually want another Tier IX American heavy before spending. A strong theme does not automatically make a vehicle essential.

For Far Cry fans, the event is unusually broad. Bringing together Jack Carver, Krieger, Jason, Citra and Pagan Min creates a wider franchise celebration than expected. It would have been easy to build the whole collaboration around Vaas or Far Cry 3 imagery alone, but Wargaming and Ubisoft have instead spread the references across multiple entries.

A brutal crossover with a clear progression hook

Battle Pass Special: Far Cry works because it understands the appeal of the source material. It is not clean, polished or restrained. It is about survival, hostile terrain, unstable characters and the feeling that the island changes everyone who stays there too long.

For World of Tanks, the event adds a clear short-term goal: progress through the special chapter, recruit Far Cry characters, collect jungle-themed customizations and unlock the M-VII-Y with its Twisting Paths 3D style. The limited window from July 16 to July 27 means players should not treat this as a passive background event. If you want the full island haul, the grind starts immediately.
