The battle to become the ultimate gladiators of World of Warcraft has reached its biggest moment of the year. Blizzard has unveiled the official trailer for the Arena World Championship (AWC) Season 1 Finals—an event that will bring together the top eight arena teams from EuropeandNorth America to clash for a $100,000 prize pool, international prestige, and, above all else, a coveted spot in the highly anticipated BlizzCon 2026 Grand Finals

The tournament kicks off on June 5 and will run through June 7, marking the culmination of the first competitive season of World of Warcraft: Midnight

BlizzCon reclaims its Crown as the ultimate WoW PvP goal

The 2026 season brings a massive shift to the World of Warcraft competitive ecosystem.

With the return of BlizzCon, Blizzard has completely redesigned the structure of the AWC into a year-long circuit that concludes on the convention's main stage. For the first time in several years, the World Finals will be contested live in front of thousands of screaming fans.

The Season Finals starting this week represent the final major hurdle before making the trip to Anaheim.

Europe and North America arrive with clear favorites

The season has been defined by a handful of organizations dominating their respective regions.

In Europe, teams like Echo and Streamerzone.gg have shown extraordinary consistency throughout the various qualifying Cups, cementing themselves as the prime candidates to lock in their BlizzCon spots.

Right behind them are fierce contenders, including:

  • Borgir King
  • Stop Nerf MW
  • Dobob
  • Habos Babos
  • Last Dance

These squads have pulled off some of the biggest upsets of the season and will look to seize any opportunity to defy the odds.

Meanwhile, in North America, the storyline has been dictated by a bitter rivalry between Gators Back and Welcome to the Jung—two rosters that have dominated practically the entire season thanks to their incredible adaptability to the current meta.

Five tickets to the World Finals on the line

Beyond the immediate cash prize, the true prize for the competitors is booking their ticket to the 2026 AWC Grand Finals.

Blizzard has confirmed that the Season Finals will award direct qualification spots for the world championship, while a final slot will be decided later via a new Cross-Region Playoff featuring teams from different territories.

The Grand Finals at BlizzCon will host six teams battling it out for a massive $300,000 prize pool, making it the biggest World of Warcraft competitive event of the year.

Midnight’s first true competitive test

These finals will also serve to gauge the competitive state of Midnight, the newest World of Warcraft expansion.

Over the past few months, class compositions, balance patches, and a shifting meta have sparked intense debate within the PvP community. The Season Finals will be the first major international showcase to reveal which strategies and builds have truly survived the game's evolution.

As is always the case in the AWC, microscopic adjustments to talents, specializations, or team comps can be the difference between championship glory and instant elimination.

The ultimate summer PvP spectacle begins now

With the elite squads of Europe and North America locked and loaded to enter the arena, Blizzard triggers one of the most vital phases of its Esports calendar.

The coming days will decide which gladiators keep their road to BlizzCon alive, and which will see their season come to an end just outside the gates of World of Warcraft's biggest competitive stage.

In a game where a single split-second decision can flip an entire series, the AWC Finals promise to deliver some of the most intense battles Azeroth has witnessed in all of 2026.
