Ghost Ships and a Changing Map Await in World of Warships’ Bermuda Triangle

The first order is to find out what happened to a missing expedition. The second is to get out alive. Horror From the Abyss sends seven players into the Bermuda Triangle in a temporary World of Warships PvE event, where a cult’s fleet guards a chain of islands that grows darker and changes shape from one Operation to the next. The trailer sets up the mystery; in the game, the investigation spans four missions, from searching for survivors’ traces to stopping airships before they reach a temple.

The event is live with Update 15.10. On the European server, it runs until 17 December 2026 at 03:00 CET. You can join from the event banner in Port or through the battle-type selector. Everyone starts with the same rental ship, the Expeditioner, but its equipment can change enough over the course of the event for two players to take very different ships into the same fight.

Four Operations take the Seekers of Mu deeper into the Triangle

The Seekers of Mu begin with Vanished Expedition, the Operation currently available in Europe. From 5 to 12 November, teams capture key areas to gather information on the missing expedition, then make for the evacuation zone. Madness Crusade takes over from 12 to 19 November, reversing the objective: this time it’s the cult’s transports trying to escape, and your team needs to stop them from taking rare artefacts with them.

In Origin of Terror, running from 19 to 26 November, players escort Professor Patel’s expedition to the central island, defend the researchers while they investigate the ruins, then shepherd the transports back to safety. Harbingers of Doom follows from 26 November to 3 December. That finale brings three cultist airships into play. Staying close slows them down, while their escorts can speed them up, so keeping enemy ships away from the airships is part of protecting the temple.

All four Operations use Grim Islands, but familiar sightlines and routes don’t always stay familiar. Some islands grow taller as the event progresses, and one scenario introduces a waterspout that damages ships caught inside it. Ghost ships add a different problem: Wraith, Specter and Phantom appear in groups and can return with restored health if the team fails to destroy them all before they vanish. During the first two weeks of Update 15.11, the four Operations return in a random rotation with adjusted scenarios, giving players another chance to see missions they missed.

The Expeditioner can change roles between missions

The Expeditioner has five configurable slots: main battery, auxiliary armament, hull, consumables and shield. Each has five branches, and you can mix parts across them. Warrior is the balanced starting option. Watcher favours range, Prowler trades endurance for speed and close-range burst damage, Artificer offers more tactical tools with tighter limits on their use, and Shockwaver is built around splash damage against groups.

That flexibility is useful when the job changes from catching transports to guarding them. You can swap in a different hull or auxiliary weapon without rebuilding the rest of the ship. Module levels earned on the reward track apply across all branches of that module, so switching equipment doesn’t send you back to level one. Relics, the temporary event currency, unlock additional branches and more specialised upgrades. They also buy talents for event Commander Pedro Lucero, once you’ve opened the relevant talent slots through progression.

Stars unlock upgrades, journal entries and free rewards

The reward track advances with Stars earned by completing main and secondary objectives. The first Operation makes the trade-off clear: capturing more key areas can earn extra progress, but the team still needs to reach evacuation and complete the primary mission. A failed primary objective awards no Stars, and later weeks award more Stars per task to help players catch up. Progress also unlocks entries in the Journals of the Seekers, where the expedition’s story continues between battles.

The free rewards include the Shadow Blades enemy destruction effect, six permanent camouflages, and three Commanders with individual voiceovers: Pedro Lucero, Narrator and Nemesis. Five of the camouflages feature glowing runes. The track also includes the Seekers of Mu and Cultists flags, Coal, a Port slot and four days of Warships Premium Account. The first time you win any of the four Operations, you’ll earn the Horror From the Abyss achievement.

If you want to follow the mystery in order, start with Vanished Expedition before the European rotation changes on 12 November. If you’re joining later, the December rotation gives you another shot at all four scenarios before the event closes on 17 December.
