World of Warships is preparing to celebrate 11 years at sea with Update 15.8, a major anniversary release filled with returning activities, commemorative rewards and new reasons to revisit vessels that may have spent years sitting quietly in Port.
The headline additions include the return of Festive Rewards for Tier V ships and above, a birthday package containing Premium Account time and cosmetic items, a new Dockyard campaign featuring British battleship Marlborough B and three Operations created specifically for lower-tier vessels.
Update 15.8 also introduces the Maritime Parade Port, anniversary collections, new ships, seasonal competitive activities and an Event Pass looking back across the game’s history. The result is an update that uses World of Warships’ anniversary not only to distribute rewards, but also to encourage players to explore more of their existing fleets.
Eleven years of naval battles
World of Warships originally launched on September 17, 2015. Over the following 11 years, its roster has expanded from a relatively focused selection of surface vessels into a large collection of battleships, cruisers, destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarines and superships drawn from numerous naval traditions.
Update 15.8 commemorates that history with the new Maritime Parade Port, where decorated ships and celebratory scenes create the backdrop for the anniversary. Players can also obtain an 11 Years of Glory flag as a permanent reminder of the event.
The celebration begins with a substantial birthday gift. After completing their first battle during the update, Captains can visit the Armory to claim a package containing the Happy Blastday enemy destruction effect, the Blast & Bash permanent camouflage, three Battle of Santiago de Cuba containers, three Red Steel Titan Premium containers and 11 days of Warships Premium Account.
This package is separate from the rewards earned through the larger Festive Rewards system, so it should be claimed even by players who do not intend to clear the anniversary bonuses from every eligible ship in their Port.
Snowflakes return across Tier V and higher ships
Festive Rewards, commonly known by the community as Snowflakes, form the centre of the 11th Anniversary event. Eligible vessels receive a one-time seasonal bonus that can be activated by completing the associated combat objective.
Tier V through Tier X ships award Festive Tokens, while superships provide Steel. The number of tokens increases with the vessel’s tier: Tier V ships provide 25 Festive Tokens, rising through the progression until Tier X ships award 125. Each eligible supership instead grants 200 Steel.
Players can remove a ship’s Snowflake by earning the required amount of Base XP. The objective scales from 200 Base XP at Tier V to 600 Base XP for Tier X ships and superships.
There is also a fleet-wide mechanic designed to reduce the amount of time required by Captains with particularly large collections. Earning 1,000 Base XP can activate additional Snowflakes on other vessels, with the number of extra bonuses determined by the total number of ships in the player’s Port. Accounts holding 600 or more ships can clear as many as seven additional bonuses through this system.
This structure means collectors do not necessarily have to play one battle with every vessel they own. However, the total reward potential still depends heavily on the size and tier distribution of the fleet.
Festive Tokens open several reward routes
Festive Tokens earned from anniversary ships can be exchanged for a broad selection of rewards. The most expensive target is Japanese supercruiser Kurama, available in Early Access for 11,000 Festive Tokens.
Reaching that total will require an extensive collection of qualifying ships, making Kurama primarily a long-term-fleet reward rather than a realistic target for every account. Players with smaller Ports can instead spend their tokens on Supercontainers, economic bonuses, signals, collection containers and enemy destruction effects.
The new Press F enemy destruction effect costs 2,500 Festive Tokens, while the returning This Is Fine effect is available for 2,000. Supercontainers cost 125 tokens each, subject to a purchase limit, providing a more flexible option for players who cannot reach the highest anniversary milestones.
Captains will need to decide whether to concentrate their currency on a major reward or divide it among multiple smaller items. There is no universally correct choice: Kurama offers a defined addition to the fleet, while containers and economic resources spread their value across future progression.
Two historical collections expand the anniversary grind
Update 15.8 uses its anniversary containers to support two collection paths.
Red Steel Titan Premium containers contain elements for a 60-piece historical collection. Completing the full set rewards the Tier IX Soviet battleship Sovetskaya Rossiya and an associated achievement. Duplicate elements can be exchanged at a ratio of three duplicates for one missing item.
Battle of Santiago de Cuba containers contribute to another historical collection connected to Spanish unique Commander Pascual Cervera y Topete. The birthday gift includes three containers from each collection, giving players a starting point without completing either set automatically.
These collections create longer-term goals beyond the immediate anniversary period, although players should examine the available acquisition methods before committing resources. A few complimentary containers reduce the number of remaining elements but do not guarantee that a collection can be finished without additional purchases or extensive token spending.
Veteran Captains receive expanded service rewards
Wargaming is also extending the Honorable Service system with a new reward for players reaching the 11th anniversary of their first battle. Accounts must have completed at least 25 battles to qualify for the relevant annual reward.
The 11-year package includes the For Meritorious Service patch, three weeks of Warships Premium Account, five Legendary economic bonuses of each type, 12 Supercontainers, 15 White permanent camouflages and a 50% discount coupon.
This reward is tied to the individual account anniversary rather than being issued universally on the same date. Eligible players reaching the milestone during the opening days of Update 15.8 may receive it within a week of the anniversary of their first battle.
A revised September login calendar supplements these bonuses with Premium Account days, Credits, Coal, Free XP, Supercontainers and containers carrying decals or enemy destruction effects.
Marlborough B begins the Black Friday campaign
The Dockyard reopens in Update 15.8 with Marlborough B, a Black Friday version of the Tier IX British battleship Marlborough. Its construction campaign also serves as the opening stage of World of Warships’ 2026 Black Friday activities.
Marlborough B carries sixteen 356 mm guns arranged across four quadruple turrets. Its large main battery, relatively fast reload and substantial salvo weight allow it to place a considerable number of shells into the air. Good concealment for its tier can help the battleship disengage or choose when to reveal its position.
Those strengths are balanced by less reliable main-battery accuracy, comparatively vulnerable armour and an exposed citadel. Marlborough B is therefore unlikely to reward players who simply present broadside and trade damage without considering positioning. Its volume of fire is threatening, but maintaining that output requires careful management of angles and incoming fire.
Construction is divided into 28 phases. Up to 23 phases can be completed through combat missions, leaving five mandatory stages that must be purchased with Doubloons.
Individual phases cost 1,400 Doubloons. The published structure also includes starter packs covering five phases for 4,500 Doubloons or 10 phases for 8,500 Doubloons. These packs are only available before completing 10 Dockyard phases through combat missions.
The mission chains run throughout Update 15.8 and the first three weeks of Update 15.9. During the final week of Update 15.9, construction can still be completed using Doubloons. Players interested in Marlborough B should therefore calculate both the required playtime and mandatory currency cost before beginning the grind.
Three new Operations bring low-tier ships back into action
One of the most practical additions in Update 15.8 is a group of PvE Operations created for lower-tier vessels. Existing Operations have generally focused on higher tiers, leaving many early Tech Tree and Premium ships with relatively few structured cooperative activities.
Trial by Fire becomes available from Tier II, Swarm of Steel begins at Tier III and Beehive opens from Tier IV. All three can scale upward and support ships as high as Tier VI.
Team composition changes according to tier. Tier II through Tier IV variants are designed for groups of five players, while Tier V and Tier VI versions accommodate seven. At the lower tiers, bots can fill vacant positions after a short matchmaking period, reducing the risk of a queue failing because too few players selected the scenario.
For Tier II through Tier IV, teams are restricted to vessels from the same tier. Full Divisions are supported, allowing groups to enter together rather than relying entirely on matchmaking.
Higher-tier variants introduce additional mechanics involving capture points, smoke, retreating or concealed destroyers and aircraft-carrier defence. Players with more than 200 battles may also encounter more challenging variants at the lower tiers.
These Operations should provide a more controlled environment for newcomers learning targeting, positioning, consumable use and objective management. For veterans, their greater value lies in creating a reason to revisit ships that progression would otherwise leave behind.
Killer Whale is also receiving a Tier V–VI adaptation. Its revised objective requires players to rescue and escort a damaged allied cruiser from an enemy base, changing the scenario’s original mission structure.
Competitive activities continue alongside the celebration
Update 15.8 launches Clan Battles Season 35, titled Komodo Dragon. The season uses a five-versus-five format with Tier VIII battleships, cruisers and destroyers. Teams may field no more than one battleship, while specific restrictions apply to several individual ships.
Three Brawls are also scheduled across the update. Their formats range from Tier VIII five-versus-five battles to a Tier X destroyer-only event with modified movement, gun and torpedo characteristics.
These activities prevent the anniversary from becoming entirely focused on PvE missions and resource collection. Competitive players still receive new formats to explore, while the Dockyard, Snowflakes and Operations provide parallel objectives for more progression-focused Captains.
Update 15.8 celebrates both collection and combat
The strongest aspect of Update 15.8 is the variety of ways it recognizes World of Warships’ history. Long-standing players can convert the size of their fleets into Festive Tokens and anniversary rewards, while newer Captains receive low-tier Operations that make the opening stages of the game more useful and engaging.
Marlborough B provides a demanding long-term construction objective, but its five mandatory paid phases mean the Dockyard should not be treated as a completely free ship event. Likewise, Kurama’s 11,000-token price makes it a reward aimed primarily at accounts with very large fleets.
Even without reaching those headline prizes, the birthday gift, Premium Account time, Snowflake resources, collection containers and new PvE scenarios give most players something practical to pursue.
After 11 years of naval battles, Update 15.8 is both a celebration of how far World of Warships has travelled and an invitation to take older vessels back out to sea.
