World of Warships Update 15.6 Introduces a New Battle Pass, Affondatore Salvage Event and Expanded Riposte Map

World of Warships Update 15.6 is set to reshape several familiar systems at once, led by a new Battle Pass format that replaces linear progression with a strategic naval map and player-selected reward routes.
The upcoming update, teased under the tagline “Choose Your Course,” is built around a more flexible progression structure, major quality-of-life changes for Unique Commander talents, a wider battle-map rotation for Riposte and the return of Salvage for Victory.
The latter will give players a new way to work toward the Italian superbattleship Affondatore, using stockpiled in-game resources alongside event-earned Salvage Tokens.
Update 15.6 is still based on work-in-progress information, so individual values, schedules and final reward details may change before the patch reaches the live servers.
A Battle Pass that lets players choose their own route
The headline feature of Update 15.6 is the introduction of a new Battle Pass system.
Instead of moving through a standard linear reward track, players will progress across a naval-themed strategic map divided into three separate areas. Each area contains individual sectors, allowing Captains to decide which route to follow and which rewards to prioritise first.
The system is intended to give players more control over progression. Rather than unlocking every reward in a fixed order, players can chart a route toward the sectors they consider most valuable, whether that means resources, bonuses or additional reward nodes.
Players will earn Battle Pass Points through daily and weekly missions, then spend those points to claim sectors connected to territory they have already captured. That means progression will still require planning: not every reward can be reached immediately, and the route chosen early may affect how efficiently players reach later objectives.
The first area will be available when Update 15.6 launches, while the second and third areas are planned to unlock one and two weeks later, respectively. Once unlocked, each area will remain open until the Battle Pass ends.
Strategic map actions add more decision-making to progression
The Battle Pass map is not only about picking the shortest route.
Some sectors will include special on-map actions that can influence other parts of the progression board. These can increase a sector’s reward value, reduce the Battle Pass Point cost needed to claim targeted sectors or introduce additional conditions that must be met before a specific node becomes available.
That is a meaningful change from a simple mission ladder.
A player may want to pursue a direct path toward a desired reward, but a detour through a reward-buff sector or a point-discount sector could make a later route more efficient. The system is designed to reward planning without preventing more casual players from gradually making progress through their own chosen path.
Each of the three map areas can also be upgraded separately with Doubloons, unlocking additional rewards for the sectors in that area. These bonus rewards apply both to already captured sectors and to sectors claimed later, giving players a reason to consider when and where to invest.
The new format is initially planned to run for one update, with World of Warships positioning it as the first version of a system that may evolve through future feedback.
Salvage for Victory returns with Affondatore as the main prize
Update 15.6 will also bring back Salvage for Victory, this time with Early Access to the Italian superbattleship Affondatore as the central reward.
The event will allow players to make progress by spending several types of stockpiled resources: Credits, Elite Commander XP, Coal and Uncommon economic bonuses. Each of those resource types can contribute up to half of the total progress required.
Players will also be able to earn Salvage Tokens by completing Personal Challenges. These tokens can cover up to 30% of the required progress, making active participation an important part of the event even for Captains who do not want to spend large amounts of stored resources.
Completing the event grants Early Access to Affondatore alongside a commemorative flag. The ship’s Early Access period is currently planned to last for three updates before it moves into the Tech Tree with Update 15.9.
Unlike some previous Salvage for Victory events, this version will not include midpoint rewards. The focus is entirely on the final objective: securing Affondatore.
Riposte expands into Random and Co-op Battles
The Riposte map is also receiving a broader role in Update 15.6.
Until now, Riposte has mainly appeared in competitive formats such as Brawls, Clan Battles and Ranked Battles. Those modes will retain their current version of the map, but Update 15.6 will introduce tailored variants for both Random Battles and Co-op Battles.
The Co-op version of Riposte will feature three Key Areas, while Random Battles will receive two separate versions of the map, each built around four Key Areas.
This adjustment is important because map layout and capture-area placement have a direct effect on how World of Warships battles develop. A version designed for competitive play does not necessarily translate cleanly to standard Random Battles or faster Co-op matches, so the new variants are intended to make Riposte work more naturally across different pacing and team structures.
Players familiar with the map from Ranked or Clan Battles should therefore expect some familiar terrain, but not necessarily the same tactical flow.
Unique Commander talents are getting broader usability changes
Update 15.6 will also bring adjustments to Unique Commander talents.
The stated objective is to make these talents more useful across a wider selection of battle types while improving consistency between Commanders. The changes are framed as quality-of-life improvements rather than a complete redesign of the Commander system.
That could matter for players who own special Commanders but do not regularly play the exact modes or ship types that previously best supported their talents. Making triggers more broadly applicable may reduce situations where a powerful ability feels too conditional or difficult to activate in ordinary play.
The final list of talent adjustments has not been detailed in the teaser itself, so players should wait for the complete patch notes before changing builds or retraining Commanders.
Summer Festival and more content are still on the horizon
The teaser closes by pointing toward a Summer Festival that will bring “a lot of ships” to World of Warships.
The exact structure of the event remains under wraps, but the development information associated with Update 15.6 indicates that several rare ships are planned to be available directly during the festival, including the new Conte Verde alongside ships such as Nanning, Cambridge, Arkhangelsk, Royal Sovereign, Rhode Island, Suzuya, Tsurugi, Almirante Grau and Cheshire.
More details are expected in future announcements.
For now, Update 15.6 looks like a system-focused patch with a clear emphasis on choice. Players will choose how to cross the Battle Pass map, decide which resources they are willing to commit toward Affondatore and adapt to a broader selection of maps and Commander talent rules.
The course is changing. Captains will soon decide where to sail first.
