The last Dead Cells update has finally a release date

Launched in 2018, Dead Cells quickly delighted many roguelike fans, but now, six years later, the Motion Twin and Evil Empire game will see its final batch of new content in Update 35. The final update, appropriately titled "The End is Near", will be released this month, on August 19th. Fans of Dead Cells should mark this date to enjoy the last new contents coming to the game.

Return to Castlevania celebrates its first anniversary

It's been a whole year since you were able to storm Dracula's Castle in a new mission, meet famous heroes, fight classic monsters with iconic weapons, and take on Death and Dracula in epic battles. All backed by original and reimagined tunes! To celebrate this joyous occasion, the Dead Cells team has lowered the price of the base game and all DLC, including Return to Castlevania! Announcement of a much-desired thing…

You've been asking for it for years and it's here! Well, almost... Motion Twin has announced that a Dead Cells animated series WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 2024! Made, of course, by Bobbypills, the French studio behind the game's animated trailers, the show takes place on (surprise, surprise) a cursed island that's been plagued by a strange plague. After the island's stupid king developed a remedy that ended up turning the entire population into monstrous creatures, prophecies begin to appear depicting a fire-headed hero who will kill the King. As it happens, this headless hero is real, but saving a kingdom is not on his agenda and he just wants to be left alone. Well, guess who isn't going to be left alone... More information here.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is now available!

It's finally here... Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC is now available! Storm Dracula's Castle in a new mission, meet famous heroes, battle classic monsters with iconic weapons, and face off against Death and Dracula in epic battles, all backed by original and reimagined tunes! You can even play as all the main characters from the famous series with 20 new outfits! This is Motion Twin's tribute to the main inspiration for Dead Cells, so they've put a lot of time and effort into making this the best Castlevania x Dead Cells experience possible. We already know the release date for Return to Castlevania!

We have already waited long enough to find out the release date of the Return to Castlevania DLC, which as the Motion Twin team said would take place in Q1 2023 and we are already in February, so… It will be March 6! Here's a short trailer of the game: NOTE: Keep in mind that what you have seen is approximately 5% of the content that will be offered. There's still a lot to discover in March, so stay tuned for more reveals to come in the near future.

New teaser for Return to Castlevania

New reminder that Dead Cells' next DLC, Return to Castlevania, is coming early this year. To get you mentally prepared for some vampire flogging and slaughter, the Motion Twin team has created a little preview that gives a nod to the classic Castlevania games and some (very quick) glimpses of the gameplay... The applications for streamers and content creators to request keys in Keymailer have also been opened. More information here.

Dead Cells Brings Castlevania back!

It's official: the next Return to Castlevania DLC arrives Q1 2023! Castlevania is arguably one of the biggest inspirations behind Dead Cells and Return to Castlevania is this exciting game’s most ambitious DLC to date. The Dead Cells team managed to convince KONAMI to let them recreate this iconic pillar of gaming, bringing Castlevania back to its 2D action roots. Everyone is Here Vol. II update now available!

Once again, we will be able to enjoy another update that means a crossover between the best indie games on the market: Everyone is Here Vol. II. More weapons, abilities and skins from players' favorite indie games are coming. But who is in the update? The answer is simple: Terraria, Risk of Rain, Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight, Katana ZERO, and Slay the Spire. The Boss Rush update is out now!

If you want, you can now play the Boss Rush update! Take on 3-5 bosses in a row to unlock new items. Oh, and don't forget to try out the new upgraded versions of the bosses... New Dead Cells Update Boss Rush Is Available in Alpha Testing

Do you want to know how the new Dead Cells expansion works? Well, it's very simple... There is a new area that can be accessed through the basement door in Prisoner's Quarters, where the training room and tailor are accessed. You will have to go through the basement door and follow the corridor until you reach the third door with the red boss head next to it. Going through that door you will find another 4 doors that will take you to 4 different scenarios where you will fight with: 3 consecutive bosses 3 consecutive bosses with modifiers 5 bosses in a row 5 consecutive bosses with modifiers What are modifiers? Basically, bosses have been given even more ways to kick your butt. You can think of extra limbs, healing powers, friends to help them crush you... 2022 Roadmap and everything coming in 2023

The Motion Twin team is taking a little breather from constant alpha/beta/update announcements to kill off the belief that, with the latest DLC “The Queen and the Sea,” we are at or near the end of Dead Cells' lifetime. To clarify the situation, we're giving you a little roadmap for the rest of the year. The development team is reasonably confident on the release times and content, but there are no guarantees in game development, so please don't take this as gospel truth. Dead Cells releases a new alpha!

Hot on the tails of our accessibility release, we're releasing a new alpha into the wild!  In this update we'll be adding the long awaited panchaku and a new Bobby outfit to go with it, a ton of rebalancing on weapons & items, reworking the legendaries system to make it more intuitive & interesting, Soul Knight content and (game changer!) letting you pet your pets.  The patch notes are here, keep reading! 

Don't miss the “Breaking Barriers” update!

The latest 'Breaking Barriers' update is now available and makes Dead Cells more accessible to everyone. It has been five years since the game launched in Early Access and the development team decided it was time to make sure that Dead Cells can be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Things to highlight: Lots of new options to improve accessibility, such as adjustable font type and size, input customization, and individual adjustment of sound effect volumes. Assist mode including customization of enemy health/damage, trap speed/damage, and parry window. More options to play with multiple lives, primary weapon auto-hit, and full map reveal. Big reduction in the cost of early-game weapons. 7 weapon reworks. Check the patch notes, but if you prefer videos, take a look at the VLOG where all the changes are shown:

Break the Bank is now live!

The new free Break the Bank update is now available! New biome, 3 enemies, 3 weapons, 3 mutations… There have also been many changes applied to life quality and error corrections. To give you a bit of context, the bank is a completely new optional biome that appears randomly each time, replacing the following biomes if you choose to enter it. To unblock it you only need to reach the Hand of the King once, easy right? If you have been at the King’s Hand before, the bank will already appear the next time you start a game. Try out a brand new biome!

Dead Cells is getting a new alpha for the next free update. Enjoy The Bank! It is a new optional biome that appears randomly during your run. To unlock the biome, just arrive at the Hand of King. If you’ve already been there before, The Bank will appear the next time you start a game. They are also bringing more ways to use gold into the game. Hotfix for The Queen and the Sea DLC

The Dead Cells team has just made a hotfix available for users that solves several errors from The Queen and the Sea DLS, as well as some balance changes. We must highlight that there are also adjustments for the new DLC weapons in the game. If you want to read the full list, you can click here.

The Queen and the Sea DLC is now available! You can finish the path started with The Bad Seen and Fatal Falls DLC and try to reach the new final! The Queen and the Sea DLC will arrive on 6th January

With this DLC we are finishing off the path that we started years ago with The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls. Finishing a trilogy requires special touches and the Motion Twin team believe you are going to enjoy several of these in this DLC. You will find a new and incredible boss who will surprise you several times, one of the new levels is completely different to anything you had previously seen in Dead Cells and, if you complete this DLC, there is also a new ending!
