Streets of Rage 4

With Streets of Rage 4 we return to the streets of Wood Oak City to leave behind a trail of destruction and the mark of our knuckles stamped into the anatomy of hundreds of enemies. The ones in denim jackets, the thugs in baggy, flashy yellow rainjackets, and those damn chubby guys in caps that are so hard to knock down...

We can eat the mythical chickens and apples found lying in the street and destroy urban furniture, recreational machines, and all kinds of objects while defending ourselves in street justice (even when it wasn’t necessary).

The main thing to keep in mind is that Streets of Rage 4 is a game designed by and, above all, for fans of SEGA’s beat ‘em up trilogy. And not only that, but it even dares to give direct continuity to a saga especially loved by those who had the 16-bit black beast. Three titles that, logically, are a product of their time and whose frequent re-releases are more aimed at veterans than new players. DotEmu is fully aware of this.

For this reason, the return of Axel, Blaze, and Adam begins with the not-so-simple task of honoring SEGA’s legacy. But it also comes with the responsibility of giving it direct continuity after a lapse of no less than 26 years since the launch of the last installment.

And, without neglecting all of the above, it takes the risk of finding a new visual identity and its own gameplay sensations that don’t simply leave the whole game anchored to nostalgia or make the mistake of coming off as generic. Luckily for everyone, Streets of Rage 4 has been placed in good hands.

To conclude, Streets of Rage is an exceptional game in its purest form that will bring back wonderful memories to older players and magnificent sensations to younger ones who will get to enjoy a classic oldie title in its modern form.
