Waypoint Update (4.0)

Waypoint Update (4.0)

2022 has been a pretty full year for No Man's Sky with free Major Updates like SENTINEL, OUTLAWS, Leviathan, and ENDURANCE, plus many of its popular expeditions. Additionally, the game has been ported to SteamDeck, where it has become surprisingly popular. Now, on top of that, the game team is about to release it on Nintendo Switch, and as if that wasn't challenging enough, they're also releasing a big update on all platforms... We're talking about 4.0 WAYPOINT, the 21st free Major Update that went into production last Friday and brings a design and balance overhaul, including inventories, milestones, cataloging, and game modes. It also features hundreds of community-favorite quality of life improvements. For more information, check out the full patch notes.

The Endurance Update Comes to No Man’s Sky

The Endurance Update Comes to No Man’s Sky

What is probably the biggest update of the year for No Man’s Sky has launched. For this reason, it’s called Endurance, and the focus is on freighters, frigates, and fleets. Endurance brings a complete overhaul of freighters and fleets, allowing players to live and work aboard their home in the stars, together with their own crew. It also brings a range of quality of life improvements, with instant access to warping and teleportation. Players can now build vast freighter bases on a scale not seen before, with specially themed areas and new features for growing food and manufacturing, plus new technology like the ability to scan and analyse planets from space. One of the most striking changes is to asteroids, which are now more varied and appear in vast fields, with thousands on screen at once. There are new Interstellar-style black holes, nebulae, and space atmospherics to explore. Travellers can enjoy these new incredible space vistas from windows and portholes, which they can now build on their freighters. Players can also build exterior sections on their freighters to use for increased flexibility, or just to admire the universe. If you want to find out more details about this amazing update, take a look at the complete patch notes.

Expedition 7 | Leviathan

Expedition 7 | Leviathan

So far players have been enjoying the most recent Major Update, OUTLAWS, whether it's hunting pirates for bounties, becoming intergalactic smugglers, searching for the treasure of The Blight in the latest expedition, or simply exploring space. Today, a new No Man's Sky expedition arrives: Leviathan. The goal is to give each expedition a unique character and playstyle, but the dev team thinks Leviathan feels especially different. This seventh expedition traps the Travelers within a time loop and offers a taste of roguelike gameplay. Difficulty adjusts to survival mode settings and each kill means a reset of the loop. As players explore the loop,  they will recover memory fragments, lost remnants of previous loops. These manifest as procedurally generated technology, meaning that each reset of the loop may play out very differently. If you want to discover more details about this update, we recommend that you read this post.

Expedition 6 | The Blighted

Expedition 6 | The Blighted

The new expedition of No Man’s Sky, The Blighted, is aligned with the pirate theme of Outlaws. The travellers will follow the tracks of a pirate faction known as The Blight and their mysterious treasure, adding up clues and deciphering their findings. The expeditions give us the chance to mix different game styles, and this frenetic treasure hunt should seem different to previous expeditions. The Blight is alert to the presence of travellers looking for their wealth and they have taken hostile measures to hunt the treasure hunters in the hills of Issh 77/R6. Get your boat ready to embark on a journey through exotic stars and marine beds to the heart of Sentinel and fugitive territory, and for those who persevere, to find the legendary pirate treasure The Blight. Find out more details here.

The Outlaws update is now here

The Outlaws update is now here

Outlaws is the second 2022 update and arriving alongside it there is a new and rich streak of pirate tradition and the first new No Man’s Sky spaceship in more than two years. The pirates of the No Man’s Sky universe have represented a threat to any interplanetary journey for a long time. For six years, they have roamed through the stellar systems without control, making the most of the unaware and vulnerable travellers and attacking their spaceships in search of any valuable load they could have. For the most part, although they have been a nomadic race, they only represent a threat in deep space. If you want to find out more information about the new update, just take a look here.
